Foxes1 Posted 15 August Posted 15 August Unless he was injured Page should have at least been on the bench. We aren't going to get a lot for him so if he gets a knock so be it, he is a better option than Skipp. 3
Chicken Nugent Posted 15 August Posted 15 August I really hope we don't sell him and he gets decent minutes this season

Which makes sense in terms of harmony within the squad. 1

davieG Posted 17 August Posted 17 August Louis Page's Leicester City absence explained as transfer link dismissed | Leicestershire Live Louis Page's Leicester City absence explained as transfer link dismissed Louis Page has been linked with a move away from Leicester City this summer Josh Holland Leicester City correspondent 07:00, 17 Aug 2026 Russell Martin confirmed that the decision to leave Louis Page out of the Leicester City squad was "completely different" from the reasons behind Stephy Mavididi and Wout Faes' absences. All three players were left out of the squad at Meadow Lane as the Foxes started their 2026/27 League One campaign with a 1-1 draw against Notts County. Martin confirmed pre and post-match that Mavididi and Faes were left out amid transfer speculation. The City revealed that bids have been turned down for both players, admitting they "probably" won't be at the club for much longer. Page was another surprise exclusion from the 18-man squad, but the teenager was part of the travelling group in Nottingham. He watched the game with members of staff next to the dug-out before conducting some fitness drills post-match. The 18-year-old has been linked with a move to Manchester United and Arsenal in recent weeks, with Martin confirming that a bid has been turned down for the midfielder. However, the Leicester manager told LeicestershireLive after the draw that Page's situation is different to that of Mavididi and Faes. “No, not at all," he said when asked if Page was left out for similar reasons. I had a good chat with Louis and I’ll have a chat with him on Monday. "We’re away from home, no centre-half [on the bench] Bade [Aluko] can cover that, Christian [McFarlane] as a fullback and can operate down the left side. "Then we wanted to have as attacking a bench as we possibly could. Unfortunately for Louis, he missed out today.” 1

I did say last week that there's a likelihood players like Page might not even make the squad and that is staggering. You have the elite willing to paying £10m + for him and he can't get in the 18 match day squad in League One? Unreal 19
Bablemikey Posted 17 August Posted 17 August Put Braybrook at 6 and Page in at 8 for Burton. Skipp to bench. 4

He was 100% left out due to the bid/protecting the asset. RM and the club just trying to get more money. 5

Page would have given us more control. I think it maybe also Martin protecting him, highly likely at 18 he's heads all over the plans with all the speculation. Do you say that or protect him and say its tactical. Edited 17 August by coolhandfox 3

Yeah hopefully he's just protecting him but there is a real issue with only having 7 subs and the squad we've got. Page has to have the team built around him if we get to the end of the window and he stays. 1
RowlattsFox Posted 17 August Posted 17 August 7 subs is going to be a big issue. Someone is going to miss out each week, probably easier to leave Page out than others. Add Chaplin to it too from up coming squads. 4

Unreal It's likely he's had his head turned and Martin is keeping him out of the spotlight until it all gets resolved one way or the other. Seen managers do this a million times with young players. If he stays and this is still happening after the window shuts then we should be worried though. 2

I'd love to see Aluko at LB, Page at 8 and Braybrooke at 6. Then get your experience around them, still 5 slot in the team you can put experience, at CB, Burns RW and Chaplin at 10. Not sure he trusts Page yet, Alves, Braybrooke and Joseph seem to have earnt there way in. I think losing Nelson to injury has been a massive loss. Just praying someone takes Mavididi, BCDR, Souttar and Skipp off our hands. Edited 17 August by coolhandfox 3

davieG Posted 17 August Posted 17 August until the likes of Bobby Decordova-Reid, Hamza Choudhury, Oliver Skipp, Woyo Coulibaly are gone the academy lads are always going to be 3rd choice.

That's why the claim that he was left out because he's definitely being sold seemed wide of the mark. Especially with him being in and out of the team, the speculation will affect him more. Hoping it's just a case of getting to September with him still here and then he'll be back in the squad 1
