It does beg the question what was happening on the training ground that players leave us and can command places in higher tier teams when they were absolutely dire for us. Typical example is Tielemans who is now plying his trade at Old Trafford. I was also impressed with the performance of Luke Ayling who absolutely bossed the back line, sometimes playing the ball across the field, sometimes pinging it to the left or short to the right or into the midfield. Then I saw the antics of our World Cup star with Okoli passing the ball back and forth to each other like a hot potato because neither wanted to take any responsibility and do something with it. The contrast could not be starker. Wrexham have just spent 15 million on a new keeper!
oldbluefox Posted 11 August Posted 11 August But doesn't take away from the fact he had a good game which is more than could be said of his time at City. Give credit where credit's due. That's all I was saying.

Six clean sheets in eight games. We looked to be recovering from a rocky start. We stopped for the stupid World Cup in the desert. Didn't restart well and his confidence crashed. He's such a confidence player and once that was dented he was too fragile to seemingly get back whilst with us. Needed the move.

Not replacing Schmeichel and his inclusion for the first 29? games of the season was tantamount to accepting relegation. His performances in 2022/23 confirmed him as one of the worst keepers we've ever had. 3

Yes, Ward did have a few games where he was decent but no well-run club would gamble on that having seen his wretched performances earlier in the season. Forest went all out to get Keylor Navas. But Top and Rudkin had handed the keys to Rodgers, the rest is history.
Claudio Fannieri Posted 11 August Posted 11 August Wonder if we have received an offer very close to our valuation for Skipp or Hamza and have started making serious moves for potential replacements, could we try and gazump Huddersfield’s move for Archie Collins 1
RichardGearman Posted 11 August Posted 11 August Just spoke to my liverpool supporting pal, said he's always looked tidy when playing in cup games and compares him to curtis jones in terms of play style. Maybe not the traditional 6 but at league one level can learn big time.

He plays the same heavy possession style as teams at the top of the PL do so it's a good environment for their youngsters. Top clubs ain't sending their young lads to play kick and rush. Never thought of it like that, very good point.
