Most likely 1st Sept when the window shuts

"Michal Antonio? Jon Rudkin here"

I think we are perhaps over analysing Russell's comment here, we have more pressing areas to recruit in and I would imagine if the opportunity comes up later in the window, we'll probably recruit another striker.

Exactly. The window is open for a few more weeks and it feels like we're going to be down to the bare bones for centre midfielders and centre backs.

1. Sell Page and Souttar.

2. Replace them.

3. Get a late loan of a young striker.

Had suspected this would be the case, it will be a couple of center backs and maybe a third keeper signing?

No, we've got our 3 keepers now.

Just replacement(s) for Souttar (and Faes and/or Okoli).

Possibly a holding midfielder in for Page. I guess Skipp will be staying now.

Big worry that.

Why? based on the last game they'll be lucky if they have the same number of touches for the whole season compared to the defence in a single game😂

I have always said L1 is Daka, Ayew and Iheanacho's level

Bit harsh on Iheanacho. He had his flaws but he was still miles ahead of Daka/Ayew, even on a bad day. 220mins per goal in the PL for us.

Ayew was 330min/goal

Daka was 300min/goal

Can’t imagine Bobby Reid scoring more than 3 non-penalty goals even if he played every single game.

Just want a striker that makes scoring look semi-easy, after watching Daka, Ayew etc please Brisket - score some goals.

Chris Wilder said last week there was no more permenant transfers for Sheff Utd this season.

Then they sold Gus Hamer and a day later they were bidding for Souttar again.

Don't read too much into stuff like this. Also if we're worried at the end of August there's still freebies.

This is where the full context needs to be provided before everyone kicks off

If Souttar, Faes or Okoli are sold, that money needs to be reinvested into bringing in a couple of centre-backs straight away.

Is "Bristrić, Cullen & De Cordova-Reid are the three strikers in this squad" actually a direct Russell quote, or is it just Owynn's interpretation of the current situation?

People seem to forget that he's a journalist. His job is to get people talking and engaging with his content. I'm not sure he's above posting something purely for generating interest.

Pretty confident another striker come in before the close of the window.

very very worrying if RM thinks Cullen and BDR are viable options as strikers this season

More worrying people are jump to conclusions after a x post from OPA.

tbf i fully expect us to sign a striker on loan, wouldnt shock me if we signed someone like Cam Archer or something

because between now and the end of the window he'll know bdr is crap

Exactly why Martin is not the answer at all.

BDR up front is because he isn't a striker and, therefore, will be more adept at keeping hold of the ball instead of taking chances  - the exact thing Martin wants from his teams has been 80+ % possession.

It comes at the expense of everything else.

This guy has a 38% career win rate and that's with a promotion season.

We have not signed a successful striker for 10 years. Kramaric was the last good striker we signed although not a success here. Before this it was Okazaki. That is truly wild.

Imagine if we sold Souttar, Faes and then signed a striker and Okoil got injured, people would be going mad.

Our attention in the short term is going to be CBs, because we are about to have 1 fit one.

Then we more than likely go back to another CF.

This means nothing. His longest stints were at MK Dons and Swansea, neither of which were expected to get promoted and had 16 games in the Premier League with a side that was nowhere near good enough (granted, he didn't do himself any favours).

This seems to be the actual quote, other areas need prioritising but he doesn’t completely rule it out.

Reid is going to be on very high wages… I think this is more a case of our hands are tied if he doesn’t want to leave.

We need to absolutely pray that Bristic is available for 40+ games a season and isn’t complete tripe

Exactly we need to bring in CBs, 100% he still wants another striker.

with Nelson out injured, Souttar potentially going Shef u and Okoli doing his best impression of bambi on Ice i do get why we will be looking at CB targets instead

Big worry if Bristric flops, though.
