He's being asked to be that far out his goal. I don't know why everyone's battering him.

But he's a professional keeper. He should be able to make his own judgement during the game.

If he's being told to play out like that, then it's once again all on the utterly inept Martin

We've been miles better tonight against premier league opposition?

It’s not just that though is it? We were shite against Notts County and we were shite against Burton Albion. We’ve only upped our game tonight because it’s PL opposition and yet we still twat about at the back when we had a good chance of going to pens at the least. Forever shooting ourselves in the foot.

There's also points where you have to just say "that's a stupid tactic, I'm not doing it", and thats where we're at with what Martins asking him to do

Really enjoyed the first sixty minutes, much more positive football. Still worries about passing around the back, but felt like the swamp had been drained and the effort was much better. Youngsters look really good, hopefully get the right additions in soon and we may turn it around.

Cullen is just Jordan Ayew Mk II by the looks of it.

Ayew at least got on the Ball and scored a few goals. Cullen offers nothing.

My main criticism from tonight has been the suicidal playing out from the back. I don’t mind playing with some risk from there but Martin’s style is so risky, so reliant on intricate threaded passes that it’s very likely to end at some point in an error and a goal opportunity. I don’t think you’ll ever see more risk on a pitch than Martin-ball

Calm down. We've been excellent tonight and the better team overall. Some really promising football. Scoreline with a freak goal flatters them. Play like this for the next 44 games and we piss league 1.

Nice. But we won’t and you know we won’t.

This isn't their first team. Let's not go mad. We've done ok but not really threatened and made so many basic errors at the back.

So a prem second team against ours? I think the point still stands. Majority of their side starts for most championship sides including the promotion sides

Best we've played in months. Just a shame it's against a much better team in the cup and they've scored an absolute worldie to make the scoreline look much less competitive than the game was.

We didn't look like scoring very often though, did we? And they did, despite looking like they resented having had to turn up.

Its not all doom and gloom and there is hope 🙏

Is that the hope that we sack him in the morning?

At least we didn't do a Watford or a Brum and get humiliated.

1st half was very good I thought 2nd, poor. But some positives to take and I can accept losing a bit more as I think we had a go. Yes, some bozo moments but better.

Subs killed us. We needed energy, but guys like Cullen and Burns just sapped the energy by giving the ball away. Page was running on fumes at the end.

No we should at least give him one more game

People have been whinging (quite rightly) and throwing round xG stats as a negative. Tonight against PL opposition, 2 tiers above us we've had more possession, a higher xG, more shots and more touches in the oppositions box.

funny thing is the risk is all at the back. going forward, it's the opposite.

But do you dare challenge and risk getting dropped?

Martin will just play his Southampton mates. He's never going to do what's best for us only what's best for him.

Strangely he doesn't seem to realise that he's doing his "career" no favours by having that attitude.
