We played better in possession because the game was played mostly at pre season pace. There was a spell just before their goal where you’d take a lot more confidence from going forward but that was the problem. The tempo went up and the defensive errors were coming. Overplaying twice for goals 2 & 3 after doing the hard work well

Its far more satisfying seeing it with the kids though cos you’d hope they learn

Good performance up until the subs, Cullen, Burns and Reid all crap. Crap for the final goal, but having Page instead of Skipp made us look a lot more dynamic. Howell was good, thought Watson was a bit meh though

caused our own issues but make shift back 4....

thought all in all we played decent/good, i cant really grumble, young team against Ipsiwch one which had starters from last season for them(most of them)

Better performance overall but goals remain a scarce commodity. Bristric has a lot of work to do. Not a single goal scored by a striker yet this season.

Be nice if we actually ever created a genuine chance for a striker. I can't remember one this season, nor really last season.

Thought we looked sharp in the middle 3rd but silly mistakes and lacking end product cost us  Wingers looked good but faded,

Absolutely desperate for that 2nd striker.

Meh, some good performances, collectively better, but didn’t think Ipswich were in full flow, and they won fairly convincingly in the end. Page needs to start, Bristric looked a bit better…. Positives, but I can’t help but not see past Martin, and know he will shit his pants V Plymouth.

Problem for any striker in this set up is that he’s going playing back to goal 80% of the game

Phil Mitchell is synonymous with losing, like a reverse Rachel Riley.

Need to bring Spencer back, he helped us piss the league.

Think that was harsh a result.

Some good football, some mistakes, still a lack of cutting edge.

But Chaplin looks a leader.

We still need 2 x CB, 1 DCM and a CF.

Need to pick the right side.

Cullen, Burns not offering enough.

not offering anything as far as I could see

Result flatters them of course. Lots to take from it positive wise but also a few concerning things!

We’ve played some great football at times and looked far superior, created plenty of chances. But I think every single goal we conceded came from us not being disciplined or simply overplaying. I also cannot see us being given that much space in the league.

Some decent individual performances. Hopefully McFarlane starts at full back going forward and Chaplin starts ahead of Cullen. Page had a great time until the last 5 when he looked battered and was at fault for their goal.

Overplaying happens because we retain the ball too much, and we get forced into having to make something happen in dangerous areas. Law of averages says even the very best will make a mistake.

It looked better, but i still think the style has more negatives than positives.

Page excellent for much of that. Howes looked great. Not sold on Watson - some decent play but needs to get the shot or cross in sooner.

Missed up until the opening goal, but from what I saw of the second half, we looked really good tonight especially against a decent Ipswich side.

Beaten by two outstanding goals. Yes, defending arguably could have been a bit better for both, but I thought our shape, passing, energy and pressing were light years ahead of the games we've seen so far.

Surprised to say it, but I even thought Bobby looked a bit more lively tonight too.

RM has stumbled upon a very good side tonight. Keep playing those lads in League 1 and we may well have managed to seal the huge hole in the hull and pumped all the water overboard, so that HMS P*ss The League can rule the waves once again.

We have just given a premier league side a decent game with a makeshift back 4 and 2 full backs as CB, plus a load of youngsters and we did well, looked more threatening and worked a lot harder out of possession.

If this is Russell’s blueprint then I can get behind this, he needs the deadwood shifting out and 3/4 new signings and I actually think we will do well.

Over to Jon and McCarron ………

Can't work out if this is sarcasm or not!
