What was all that total lack of movement about? As Souttar or Thomas )and others) looked for a passing option there was just this static formation, all marked, no one trying to get away from their marker. Is this part of the Martin master-plan?

 

I’ve heard him say in the past he likes his sides to progress up the field together as a unit, eventually causing an overload / outnumbering so maybe he instructed them not to dash about like rats in a larder and they took it too literally but ffs you train all Week for matchday, when it comes you don’t want the responsibility of being on the ball? Mooooooove. Throw ins with no one making themselves available, what in case they drift out of formation! This is football not the Red Arrows

Arguably - the team need the support now - more than ever. 
 

This season feels like it’s at a tipping point. If we could sell out the next home game - it would give the boys a real boost. 

Martin ball would have the ability to silence Boca fans. 

 

Supporters are not the issue with the way we play, even KP fans who sit in silence can't exactly be blamed for us playing like we're winning whilst 4-0 down at home to Oxford ****ing United.

The Burton home crowd was large for league one and looked what that did.

The Burton crowd was large - but quite negative. 
 

Imagine a full house of fans getting behind the team.

 

The team might prefer a lower crowd than a large crowd boo-ing!

Most had gone home 20 minutes earlier. 

 

Boos, obviously, but not that many, partly because of how few there were there and probably partly because of the number of young players on the pitch at that time (seven?).

 

The loudest, and possibly only, chant in the second half was ‘Sack the Board’ and a lot went after that.

I’m away for a wedding and missed the game, I was just in utter disbelief seeing the score come in. Is there any saving grace at all from the performance or did everyone have a complete stinker?

 

next game is critical now, big changes need to be made and hopefully kanga can get into the team. I honestly thought we were going to hammer them…. It’s the hope that gets you.

We are piss poor under Martin , we are never going to hammer any team under him.

Don't think I've ever seen the ground empty so quickly after their 3rd goal, just an hour gone and everyone can see that we're getting out muscled and out played.

The managers solution, just more of the same!

Heard their fans singing we want 5 after the fourth goal, I said to the folks around me that I wouldn't be surprised if they got them.

This is exactly what I was thinking about earlier. Burns was most effective for Ipswich when running on to balls in space, using the pace he had and then supplying good crosses in to the box. We tend to feed him the ball to his feet 10 yards in to their half, such is the way we play with too slow build up. Thats not suited to his game.

His injury last season hampered his appearances for us and, when McKenna went, he clearly wouldn't have been a regular in our PL campaign. I said it when we signed Burns but your fans liking him didn't really sell me. WBA fans hated Albrighton. He was finished. What he'd done here carried no weight for them and fair enough really.

 

We've handed out his best ever contract at the weakest part of his career. A winger based on pace who looks particularly slow and unsuited to our manager (though this is probably a strength of Burns if anything).

We already have very little shape, but we then seem to be even more loose with our positions, whilst being static and easy to play against at the same time.

 

We must be one of the easiest teams in the EFL to play against?

Playing out from the back will mean we fall behind early in many games

 

so easy for an away coach to tell his team to press us strongly for the first fifteen.

The stats at half time showed Souttar having 62 touches and Alves only 15. The amount of frustrating play, involving Souttar standing on the ball on the halfway line, then passing it forward 2 yards to a player with 2 opposition on his back, getting it back and having nowhere to go. Absolutely no forward drive from the team. I assume this is down to the manager and his outdated tactics.How did Oxford score? Direct fast breaks down the wings, then a cross on the run into the middle. Does our coaching staff do any homework on how our opponents play cos we seem to be taken by surprise every game. They obviously know our game as slow build up, slow defenders too high up the pitch and we take so long to reach or not reach the area, that their defence is able to have a little chat whilst waiting. RM system is outdated and mind numbingly boring, but more importantly, is losing us matches.

Stands appeared to be nearly empty at the end. But THEY will not be bothered until they are empty at the start.

How odd. You could argue that you are supporting LCFC by NOT going to the match.

This started years ago but we had enough talent to bail us out. Now we have just run out of real quality. If we had six or seven reasonable players around James and Fatawu we would probably have been in mid-table at worst.

Everything about yesterday utterly honked. I've seen us get tanked at home by Premier League stalwarts like Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal. But with no disrespect, this is Oxford, and fornthat reason, this one is the worst home defeat I've seen in my 15 years of being a STH. 

 

An ageing keeper that cannot do basic passing or commanding his own area. Thanks to Jakub's injury, and Bausor is out on loan, McCarthy is all we have.

 

Joseph (and MacFarlane, giving him benefit of the doubt) aside, the defence gives me zero confidence. Souttar didn't look interested, almost sulking because he didn't get his move.

 

Attacking-wise, Burns and Reid offered zero attacking threat. The latter is constantly picked by Brussell which absolutely boggles the mind, doesn't even look League One level. Cullen didn't play yesterday but he offers little threat. No wonder clubs from higher levels were happy to let them go. And lastly we have a manager with such abysmal tactics that any team can easily counter against, and a more inexperienced Ramsey completely outsmarted Brussell.

 

These are dark times. Without doubt the worst in our history, and it could well get worse. I wish I could sit here and type how we get out of this mess, but even I don't have a clue with the squad we have, nor can we surely afford to sack RM and his staff without costing ourselves millions that we don't have.

It wasn't quite as bad as the 5-0 reverse against Bolton on the opening day all those years ago but it really did remind of that in terms of the level of honking ineptitude
