What is our rock bottom and when do we hit it?

If we’re bought by Neil Lal’s consortium, we’re screwed too. I’d rather the club cease to exist so we can all move on. The good days are a distant memory.

It’s a view 

mine has always been that king power have consistently failed to effectively finance the club. Even under vichai their approach was to wait for debt to pile up and then clear it.  That’s a reactive approach but it got considerably worse once we lost the boss.  They should have been committing funds to allow budgets to be clearly set. of course the lack of a sensible player trading strategy after chilwell went coupled with the disastrous wage structure has led us to where we are.

Genuinely, all things considered, that has to be our worst home (league) defeat ever surely?

 

A couple of big ones against non-elite sides in the top flight come to mind (5-0 to Bolton under the spud peeler and same score to Villa in the Adams season). 
 

Biggest home defeat in our only other third tier season was 2-0. I looked it up yesterday and there was a couple of big ones in the 1920’s in the second tier but this was a time where bigger scorelines were frequent.

 

In this day and age, in the third tier, 4-0 at home is unthinkable and has to be pound for pound, a worst home league result ever surely? Or at least for 100 years.

Once you’re out of the premier, the standard seems the same down to league 2 it’s this god awful system that hampers us, so if we continue with it the sky’s the limit.

The clubs decline is just so infuriating and unnecessary ,one ludicrous decision after another  with the same mistakes on managerial appointments and player signing and contracts being repeated over and over . It’s like watching a slow motion car crash which is causing a huge divide between the fans and the club management which looks irreparable . Just sell up and FO

This is spot on. We just haven’t budgeted to live within our means. We have also purchased some absolute dross as well.

I think the issue will be that at £200, you are buying a property portfolio in reality and with the greatest respect, it comes with a football team that uses those facilities.

The rock bottom from a sporting sense will be going out of business and having to reform from the regional leagues. I doubt we'll end up as low down as the very bottom. AFC Wimbledon started again in the ninth tier as a guide.

 

But that might not even be the rock bottom. That may come with the fracturing of the fanbase.

 

Who runs the phoenix club? How many will agree on such a thing? If KP don't sell up, will they hold on to the club's name, etc., like those at Bury FC did until the phoenix club (Bury AFC) purchased Gigg Lane and absorbed the original club's history.

 

As a much bigger club with a much bigger fanbase, will all of us put our collective support behind the same phoenix club? Will some support Leicester City AFC, will some support Leicester Fosse FC? How many of our fans who decide to support one phoenix club (or a local side like Harborough, Coalville, Oadby or Hinckley) will come back if one of those clubs becomes the 'official' continuity club by virtue of it being the most successful early on?

 

Even as we rise back through the divisions, what we lose on the way may yet be our rock bottom.

My colleague goes home and away to every single Boston United game. Even pre-season friendlies. He's the most committed fan of a football club I know. 

 

He's had some absolutely ridiculous turn around whilst playing in National League "North."

You're absolutely right. It's possible however that any fracturing comes in the very early stages, and some investment in the phoenix project comes from figures who quickly unify the club. For instance even if some of us look at AFC Leicester and say, 'no, it's full of the KPFC lot', if it's substantially backed by a Vardy, a Lineker, and gets a few big favourites on board, then we'll probably go where the momentum is. I'm sure some won't, but in time the successor club would emerge.

Off the top of my head, since the turn of the century we've had the 5-0 against Villa and Bolton, the 6-1 against Spurs, 4-0 against Liverpool and Brentford and now this. I think these are the only 4 goal+ margins we've had at home but i'm probably missing something obvious.

I had forgotten about Spurs. The Bolton and Villa ones in the 2001-2004 time came to mind.

 

Even thought they weren’t world beaters, the context here of being in the third tier, us having the most resources and deepest squad, make this the worst and most unacceptable in my view.

That Spurs game came when we had quite an injury hit squad and our season was essentially confirmed as mid-table whilst they needed to win to continue their push to win the league. Don't think it was as bad as the others (despite it being the most we've conceded at home in this century).
