I would love to see a team without Thomas & Okoli AND well the change in tactics which obviously they can do with ease. The line up and formation mean little if they are playing Russ ball.

A quick pass to Page rather than walking football and backwards until they give it away.

This line up with Oxford or Stockport manager and we would batter the league.

Play like we did against Doncaster, and we will win

Yes it would probably be enough to get over the line again, but even that wasn't a great performance.

Can imagine it being a quite a poignant game given it'll be the 8th anniversary of the helicopter incident.

Not heard anyone mention that in the run up and it hadn’t even crossed my mind either tbf

We’ve played at home on the anniversary before but this is the first league game

Not usually one to go into detail pre match nowadays, mainly because I can’t be arsed to analyse Martin ball, but after recent games, I think it’s been clear as day what needs to change.

If he persists with this new formation, then this game is perfect to give Kangasniemi a shot at LCB. With what we’ve also seen, we currently have a conundrum at wing-back, personally I feel we need dynamism on both sides. Even though it’s not his natural position, I think Alves has given us that in recent games, Luke Thomas on the other hand, despite contributing against Bromley, isn’t dynamic enough to be a regular wing-back. Joseph, McFarlane and Alves should be the top three options if we persist with wing-backs.

The most encouraging sign from this formation is what Braybrooke and Doyle have given us, their off the ball runs have caused havoc at times in recent games. In their positions though, we’ve got numerous options to rotate, I wouldn’t be surprised if Cullen, Chaplin or both start against Wigan.

And finally, I bloody hope he puts Bristric on the bench instead of BDCR, that constant decision is infuriating.

Because of injuries and suspensions, hopefully we get something like this…

McCarthy

O’Hora - Souttar - Kangasniemi

Alves - Smallbone - Page - McFarlane(If fit)

Chaplin - Braybrooke

Riis

Bench - Ravizzoli, Aluko, Thomas, Doyle, Cullen, Howell, Bristric

Pretty sure he returns to a back 4, with Souttar and O'Hora in the middle, and Thomas on the left with either JJ (is he fit?) or Aluko at RB. Think Russell will be looking for any excuse to move away from the back 3.

He changed formation and style for two games and we got a different result and a change in attitudes.

Yesterday he decided to apply his failed tactics to the change in formation, it didn’t work.

He rotates bad decisions expecting it to suddenly work, as if all the team needs is his set template which removes any agency.

Hopefully he reverts to the team/style from two games ago, but I expect him to fully reset and go again.

Is it not just as simple as we beat Doncaster who aren't a great side, and if we hadn't scored first would maybe have lost again, and we beat Bromley who are one of the weakest in the league? Let's face it we haven't been convincing in any win apart from Bromley. Stockport and Plymouth went away wondering how they'd lost and Doncaster wasn't convincing in the first or last 20 mins. Anyone half decent we struggle against. Okoli should be nowhere near the team, hope he plays Kanga for this one.

He'll jump at the chance to bring some of the teachers pets in for this. Fully expect Cullen and Smallbone to start. Not sure what will happen at the back though.

I think you'll find he'll be bringing in wonderful human beings.

I love our footballers to be overpaid wonderful human beings

Can't wait ...... Cullen, Burns, Chaplin, BDCR, Thomas, Okoli and O'Hora all to start hopefully.

can someone tell me the difference between Reid, Cullen, Chaplin, Burns & Smallbone because to me they’re all the exact same player

All got the same shite attributes and not a modicum of aggression or pace that you need in this league

Alves has the most pace in the team.

its amazing that he wants to play with wingers and didn’t buy a single one with electric pace.
