Beast with Idris Elba.  Only an hour thirty, no messing about or undue padding just a nice silly slice of action/thriller that's easy to watch and done well. There's nothing you won't expect but it's fun to be along for the ride.

Yeah it was fine. Nowt special.

Tbf it's just nice to watch a film that doesn't go on for three bloody hours.  And I think it was done better than a lot of the B movie type stuff, the Icelandic director whose name I forget isn't bad.  But, no, certainly nothing spectacular.

Just watched All Quiet On The Western Front and it's knocked me for 6.

It's excellent. Totally unrelenting.

Interestingly absolutely panned by the critics in Germany, for deviating so far from what is after all a massively important book in that country.

I agree with the German critics. They shoehorned the armistice talks and made Marshal Foch the bad guy. They also did not show any of the training which gives the impression of lambs to the slaughter. The original film of 1930 is still superior despite the great age. That the ending showed the soldier getting the bayonet in the back is clumsy suggestion that Germany was stabbed in back rather than defeated in the field

Another teaser released for Indiana Jones, certainly looks like its going to be a lot of fun. Just nice to have a movie release that isn't DC and Marvel. Nowt wrong with those movie but too many...

Only just found out that the legend film quadrophenia was set to have a sequel. They started filming in early 2020, they filmed two weeks of work then covid struck and production never resumed. Would have been interesting, there was on set pictures of lesley Ash. Wonder why production never resumed.

Filmed it - To Be Someone. It is truly horrible.

Saw it at the Phoenix the other night. Enjoyed it.

I saw one review describing the French at the armistice talks as war mongers and the Germans as trying to save lives. This is the trouble when people watch a film without a sense of the history. The Germans had been camped on French and Belgian soil for 4 years! The Germans were trying to avoid admitting defeat rather than some sort of humanity saving quest.
