I saw one review describing the French at the armistice talks as war mongers and the Germans as trying to save lives. This is the trouble when people watch a film without a sense of the history. The Germans had been camped on French and Belgian soil for 4 years! The Germans were trying to avoid admitting defeat rather than some sort of humanity saving quest.

There's a great line in Shaun of the Dead where David worries about there being a bloody great hole in the window and Ed just says "You did that you twat".

Was trying to remember two old but superb movies and found them , ordered the Blurays to add to my collection, one was What Dreams may come and the other was The Lovely Bones....

Journey's End on BBC 4 tonight at 10pm. Probably a tiny budget compared to All Quiet but imo a better film. Of course the original play was written by Great War veteran R C Sherriff.

just fell upon "The Great Dictator"  yes apparently one of the worlds great classics, but ive always been unable to watch old movies.

It was ok... but this as the final scene was quite something...and to realise it was filmed in the middle of the war is remarkable.

A Man Called Otto

Old, grumpy Tom Hanks just wants to die after his wife passed away.

A little funny, a little cheesy, a lotta sad.

Thought it was okay.  Would probably never watch again.  6/10

Its available to rent through Amazon, but I recommend waiting for it to be free.

Rain Man

Just watched it for the first time, slightly behind the curve considering it was released when I was two.

Absolutely loved it.

Finally watched the second, written by the director rather than the previous writer, was decent and was more a same repeating day but in an alternate universe story, less a murder mystery and more a what universe would you choose story as well.

Wonder what the third one will centre on hmmm.

Brilliant film.

Oscars for Best Picture and Dustin Hoffman for Best Lead Actor. Deservedly so.

Went to see this film not knowing much about it beforehand other than it was Hanks. Me and the Mrs came out pleasantly surprised and both rated it as one of the best films we have seen in years.

Just watched the Luther movie on netflix, flimsy ass plot but Andy Serkis makes a great villain!

Worth watching if you are a fan of the show.

Is this ironic, given your forum name?

The Watcher (2022)

Aboit an American woman who moved to Bucharest with her husband, and believes a strange neighbor may be a serial killer.

Slow moving.  Lots of tension.  Not a bad watch.

Ready Or Not (2019)

Black comedy horror about a young woman who must partake in a bizarre ritual with her new in-laws on the night of her wedding.

Really enjoyed it. It's by the same directing team from the new Scream films.
