Saw this when I was in my teens, 1946 and a little known classic...

Wonderful film and inspiration for a great scene in Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey. Wouldn't say it's little known though. One of the most famous British films ever.

Certainly good films made by Powell and Pressburger. Even the conventional war movie The Battle of The River Plate was good. That film was of particular interest to me as I used to work with a chap who served in HMS Exeter in that battle.

Oh yes.

Making a trailer that teases without giving away the entire film lost art these days.

That sound design. The Kipling poem. Masterful stuff, this.

Finally got round to watching Godzilla minus one on Bluray from  all the Anime .com

Gotta say, best G film in years and it's nice to hear the big guys theme too.

Boyle is an absolutely MASTER at marrying the audio and visual. One of the greatest British directors of all time.

Recently watched Will & Harper, which is excellent, followed by Leave The World Behind. It's probably 20 mins too long, but definitely worth a watch. It makes you think ‘could this actually happen ?’

Both on Netflix, would recommend both.

Longlegs

Honestly haven't watch a lot of horror films of late. Super creepy vibe and fantastic cinematography.

I honestly wouldn't have known it was Nic Cage in this, if I hadn't seen his name in the credits.

I'm really not sure about the plot and I'm not sure I want to revisit it.

I watched it alone in the dark, right before I went to bed. I'd say that's the way to go.

Carry-On

Decent enough christmas themed action flick in the style of phone booth, a little too long and a little too violent and Jason Bateman makes an effective villain.

Funny how people see things differently. I thought it was utter garbage.

I didn't think it was a classic, by any stretch of the imagination.

I've seen a lot more reviews that are in agreement with you.

Saw it last night and I pretty much agree with everything in this review. Never been a fan of anime and am generally uninterested in animation, so it took me a while to get into the film. Having a creative team who worked on Jackson's trilogy really helps you get back into the world of Tolkien that Jackson crafted all those years ago. It's also probably the reason this works for me, and why the Rings of Power has been a failure (IMO).

I really loved it, and it made me excited for the Hunt for Gollum too.
