Very good delivery that, hopefully Hull can put a decent spell in here

He needs coaching on D1 standard celeb-appealing though, that was practically apologetic!

Rehan finally making his Delhi Capitals in the IPL today, hope he smashes it (just joking, not even in the 16 again).

I just wish we had an attack of comparable quality.

We don't but Essex have really had the best of the weather. Low cloud when we were batting and bright sunshine when it was their turn.

Not surprisingly, finding it difficult to dislodge Stubbs, Miller, Starc or Ngidi. But he's the go-to guy now at running on with tape, drinks, bats or helmets.

Think we are probably better challenging for division 2 promotion but not actually going up.

We’ve not been far off in a lot of games but we’ve definitely lacked that edge in important moments. You can’t blame the effort or skill but ultimately we look light of experience.

Leicestershire of old that, a total capitulation. Very disappointing having battled hard for 2 days and been on top until today.

No. Capitulation is the act of surrendering, yielding, or ceasing resistance to an opponent or a demand. That isn’t what happened today. We were competing on even terms for two days but the conditions this morning strongly favoured the Essex bowlers and we were beaten fair and square. You can’t fault the effort of our boys.

🤣 you’re defending 60 all out? We showed little resistance today, even the coach said it wasn’t a 60 all out pitch.
It was a capitulation.

Capitulation implies a deliberate act. Are you implying that they deliberately threw the game?

I feel like critisim of Fonz and Taylor is a little bit unfair we lost Maharaj, rehan and Handscombe right before the start of the season all are around world class or in Pete's case fringe world class.

Because of the faff around losing Pete and Maharaj we missed out on van beek who was excellent last season. Eskanzi looks a good edition but the other signings have so far been disappointing and the side is massively unbalanced hence the helm loan.

So what I am trying to say is due to circumstances out of our control we have actually got a worse side than last season in a much harder division.

Hopefully they can get it right and if they don't i have every faith in the coaching set up to guide us back up.

Yep, structure and green shoots are there even if we go down. Handscombe, will be back next season and we just need to keep investing in the younger player, giving them the opportunities to succeed. Hopefully Farooq makes one of the T20 squads.

Louis Kimber coming in as a specialist batsman at eight and hitting a near run a ball 66 to help Northants win by two wickets.

Edit - Apparently he was a sub.

Have a feeling we're going to miss his destructive hitting in the coming Blast. Beyond the openers, our batting doesn't have that X factor, at least until Rehan gets back

Whilst I agree I think the evidence of recent years would suggest we'd only miss it in a couple games. Be interesting to see if Northants are able to get some consistency out of him.

Of course I’m not, stop being so dramatic and ridiculous. Good to see you looked up capitulation as you copied it almost word for word.
60 all out is indefensible.

1st test starts 4th June. Rehan's booked in for drinks duty.

I’m not as sure. He was good when he was good but he was very inconsistent. We’ve got a really solid opening pair and Green, Cox even Mike coming in lower order can sometimes be good for explosive runs.
