He's the new cricket professional at Oundle School, in Peterborough, so not far for him to go. 

 

Solid employment for many years - Vince Wells is still Director of Sport and Cricket, down here at Sutton Valence School, in Maidstone.

Given the weather forecast in Wales tomorrow, and the current score in the game at Cardiff, it looks like Essex will escape with a draw, which will mean they get 9 points and finish on 136 points. We would therefore need the points deduction to be overturned almost in its entirety to escape relegation.

Given all the stuff that went off before the season, I don’t think it’s been a bad season. We had the shite luck with the overseas signings just weeks before the season started.

Some of the bowling attacks we’ve fielded have been worse than some of those we had in the second tier. And yet still only were relegated thanks to a somewhat dodgy points deduction.

 

Yes the T20 was shite. No hiding from that.

 

We’ve had a lot going against us, and that’s even before the financial disparities, but still making our mark. Thanks lads, but let’s build on it and not revert to the dire times of previous.

We need to try and establish ourselves as a top 12 club (either First Division or top two in the Second Division). We haven't been the worst side this season and may well end up getting enough points on the field to have survived before the deduction.

 

The overseas player and Ahmed's availability are critical next year.

Lost our on-field leader in Handscomb too. We lost our way at times in the first half of the season- might have picked up a few more points with him around.

Just suggesting it. There was a list floating about and to be honest not many interesting names out of contract so not sure there will be much activity coming in.

 

Ben Mike to Gloucestershire is an interesting one.

 

Did hear a rumour Derbyshire were interested in Budinger too though he's under contract for next season so unsure there is much in it.

Depends who we get as the second overseas and whether Hull and Holland are still here. I wouldn't mind de Swardt coming back as he balances the side.

 

Ben Mike to Glous is a good move for him as he'll get game time there, when he's fit of course.
