Bizarre one for me, I wouldunderstand if we were going for promotion.

Why bring in someone on the verge of retirement for a few weeks?

Could be with a view to signing him next season?

I certainly wouldn't be against it, class act and better than much of the dross on our books even at his age. He'd be a good influence for youngsters coming through too.

Be great if we could get him permanently. Thought he'd had a few decent knocks this year?

Always handy in T20 too.

Up to 300/9.

As others have said, think Carberry is a loan with a permanent move on the horizon next season.

He has got the ability and certainly has the experience. Then again, I'm all for anything that would stop us finishing bottom lol

Kent 113-5, fully expecting Stevens now to hit a ton but the next wicket vital. Dexter also showing he's worth the recall with three wickets.

Unsurprisingly Stevens hit 46 off 95 balls but he's just gone off Pillans. Kent 195-6.

Stevens always trots out the "fired up against LCCC because they let me go" narrative, conveniently forgetting that he could hardly buy a run in his final season here, and there was little sign of him developing the bowling prowess that he subsequently showed.  Credit to him for turning his career around, but he won't admit that he was appalling towards the end of his days at Grace Road.

Anyone shed any light on the fallout? Think I heard on the radio, that Cosgrove had a row with the coach??

Think the lack of progress is the issue one has to go and probably not the one scoring all the runs

Cosgrove agreed to set up a finish with the Kent captain only for the coach to say no

What is the point in these two day tour games? A proper three day first class 11 a side match or a one-dayer would surely be more beneficial and a better spectacle.

You're basically just paying to watch a glorified Windies net at this thing.

Beginning to think that De Bruyne wasn't the right appointment... Seems to be engaging reverse gear again....Needs binning probably !

Blimey!!! Never been known to be psychic before!

Seriously though, there was obviously an undercurrent of unrest around the place this year. The fact that there was a new coach in charge seemed the most likely reason!

Just got to hope that Khan get's the next appointment right.

Would love to see Paul Nixon back at the club.Regarding Khan been a disaster so far got the gift of the gab but little else. The crazy decision to hire PDB will cost the club around 100k in terms of a payout understand Pettini  has been in talks with the club to cancel the last year of his contract on around 60k a year.Be amazed if the club make a profit this season

Much talk here that this appointment is rubbish or that person has been hopeless, but the truth is it is a darn hard job.

We have been so short of success in recent years that it is hard to get punters through the turnstiles. The frustration is that with 30,000 at the City and 25,000 at Tigers so few come to Grace Road. I bet a decent percentage of those 50,000 people like cricket, so how do you make them want to come to, say, five days of cricket during the close season?

If there were more people in the ground the atmosphere builds, players respond positively, more revenue is generated through food and drink sales and we start to become a more sustainable club.

its a tough job though. There is no magic wand and remember Wasim came with one of the best reputations in the cricket world.

and no, I am not Wasim

To be fair to Khan, really felt that we were making progress last season under AM - even had an outside chance of promotion at one point. But apart from the T20 campaign, where we largely dependent on T20 specialists brought in on a short term basis, this season has been appalling beyond belief. Puzzles me why we can't be at least be as competitive as other counties without Test grounds such as Northants, Kent, Derbyshire, etc, who are also based in catchment areas with a smaller population. Must be down to poor recruitment, management and coaching?
