Rincewind Posted 3 June 2015 Posted 3 June 2015 No it's true this one Ken. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/council-threatens-homeless-1000-fines-5786596 The first comment at the bottom makes me laugh, actually blames the Tories for a decision of a Labour council Well I deliberately never mentioned they were a Labour council, not because of my views but because I thought it was irrelevant. I'd expect better of them actually. I just hope other councils do not follow suit. Just shows there is not a lot of difference.
kingcarr21 Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/row-zed/england-under-20-players-left-embarrassed-5820663 This made me laugh. Do many people actually know the words to the second verse?

Babylon Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Student changes name by deed poll and gets new passport as it's cheaper than paying Ryan Air admin fee for ticket changes. Brilliant. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3111811/Ryanair-booking-error-s-cheaper-buy-new-Student-changed-deed-poll-bought-new-passport-220-fee-airline-wanted.html?ito=social-twitter_dailymailUK
Rincewind Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 And he could change it back although that woud nearly total the admin fees. Never realised passports cost that much now. Mine has expired but no point renewing unless I go abroad.
Jimothy Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Since when was changing your name free? Cost me £35, 14 years ago.
Guest MattP Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/row-zed/england-under-20-players-left-embarrassed-5820663 This made me laugh. Do many people actually know the words to the second verse? I just tried this and got stuck in the third verse, I thought I knew it all as well. I proudly still know the last verse though, if I was in this situation I would sing that as the second verse. No. I do not know the words to the first verse. Are you being serious?
Nick Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Since when was changing your name free? Cost me £35, 14 years ago. What was it before 'Facecloth'?
Babylon Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Since when was changing your name free? Cost me £35, 14 years ago. He said it was cheaper than the £220 admin fees.
Jimothy Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 What was it before 'Facecloth'? Towel. I've shrunk since then. He said it was cheaper than the £220 admin fees. It says in the article he changed his name by deed poll for free. Even at £35 it still would have been cheaper than the admin, I'm just curious as to how and where he got his name legally changed for free when mine cost £35, and usually these thing increase in price over the years.

I changed mine for £8 a year or 2 ago.
Merging Cultures Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Since when was changing your name free? Cost me £35, 14 years ago. If they charge they would be discriminating against people who want to change their gender and name but can't afford to do so. (or probably something like that!)

I proudly still know the last verse though, if I was in this situation I would sing that as the second verse. Are you being serious? Well its not a song I would sing in the shower. The other verses are about killing Scottish people I think. It would not be in my all time top 100 tunes so I do not even think about the words.
Jimothy Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 I changed mine for £8 a year or 2 ago. Obviously different solicitors charge different amounts, but £8 still isn't free. I can't see how he's got it done for nothing, it's a legal document that requires a legal professional to sign it, they'll charge you for almost anything, so pretty sure they'd still charge for that. What were you before The Zorro?

What were you before The Zorro? Get a deed pollA deed poll is a legal document that proves a change of name. You can change any part, add or remove names and hyphens, or change spelling. It doesn’t cost anything to make your own deed poll. Specialist agencies and solicitors may charge a fee to do it for you. https://www.gov.uk/change-name-deed-poll/overview
the zorro Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Mike Hunt. Easily the best £8 I ever spent. Obviously different solicitors charge different amounts, but £8 still isn't free. potter3 Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Students find exam 'too hard'. Apparently their exam was too hard, and that was the example of one of the difficult questions. If it really took four accountants with maths degrees two hours to answer the question in the article they should probably ask for a refund. I realise if it's a few years since you left school you'd probably look at that and be like ???, but I'm pretty sure any kid who expected to do well in their Maths exam should be able to answer that in 5-10 minutes.

Pathetic. Like you say it took me a few minutes to remember how to maths, but if you can't answer that question within weeks of being hand-held through the process (and subsequently revising it) then there is no hope for you. Genuinely worried for the UK right now - don't make excuses for kids who don't study.
