Fryatt to Rams?

Fryatt misses a lot of chances but at the end of the day he is hot on top of his form and we'd be idiots to get rid of our top scorer...let him finish top of the goal charts and that will bump his price up; get rid then if we gain promotion cuz he cant hit a barn door in Championship

How many players have struggled to impress in a higher division, been sold on to a club in the lower leagues and worked their way back up with new found confidence? It's whats happened to Fryatt, he looks a different player to that of last season, not just with his goals but assisting in many goals along the way.

Hell, our fans seemed to think Stearman was destined to fail at Wolves while he's just showing them up and Fryatt would probably do the same if he decided to leave. Service = goals. Fryatt had none of the sort in the Championship and was expected to take the 1 chance he got every 2/3 games.

I don't remember anyone saying Stearman would fail at Wolves - I seem to remember a lot of disappointment that he was going.

Just because he hasn't scored much in the championship in the past doesn't mean he won't in the future. You'd like to think he's continually learning and developing year on year. Doesn't always work that way of course, but it's still to early to write him off as just a lower league striker.

No but, assuming Fryat's inclined towards a new contract, which is by no means certain, his manager and the chairman will have to decide what he's worth in a new deal and for how long.

I don't think they are easy questions. His record in The Championship wasn't good but then, neither was the service, or his fitness/match sharponess at times.

Yeah but there were many a shocking miss in the vein of yesterday's scrapbook entry, and it's upto him to get himself fit and of a sensible weight.

Who else could we get for free (if Fryatt left for nowt) to replace him in the summer? Proven goalscorers are hard to come by, even if they are only League 1 standard. It's not like Howard and DJ have proven themselves for us in the Championship - Howard can barely score in League 1 let alone a higher level.

The fact is, whatever Fryatt's limitations, without his goals we would be in trouble. Until we can find somebody else who could score on a consistent basis at this level, we should try to keep him.

I reckon Heskey or Owen.

Offer him a contract commensurate with division 3 football with a clause to up grade it to championship level if we get promoted and if he shows the same form by Christmas next year. If he turns it down tell him to FO!

Hes fat and slow.

If we can get £500,000 sell sell sell.

Dickov and Dj are back now, i think they can definately score goals at this level if they actually get match fit and play more than 20 minutes at a time.

If Dj got a consistent run of games last season i rekon he could have ended up with 12 goals+ minimum, but after Allen was sacked he never really got a chance unless it was the last 15 minutes or so.

Even with Fryatt's goalscoring if Dj and Dickov were 100% fit id start with both of them and leave fatty and fatty on the bench. We would keep the ball on the floor, play better football and have a hell of a lot more pace up front with those two.

But Dickov is a bit old now, Dj never gets match practice so they may never get 100% fit.

I think they would tear the Yeovil defence apart if their given at least 60 minutes playing together on Tuesday, but with Fryatt scoring it aint gonna happen.

Does anyone know if we've ever tried to give Fryatt an extended contract?

Is it a case of there has been an offer he hasn't signed yet of he has not been offered a contract?

Oh, on another point I'd keep himtill the end of the season regardless,

£500,000 or whatever we could get for him would not be worth risking promotion IMO.

Broadly I don't care how many goals strikers miss, just how many they score. A miss like Fryatt's yesterday is only likely to be important if it costs us the game but a little more ruthlessness would never be unwelcome.

Can't say I've noticed him looking especially unfitt or overweight this season. But then when you're 14.5 stones as to blubber whale rather than Mr Muscles, it's not the sort of subject I'm inclined to focus on! :D

Keep him. We need him... he's the only one up front at the moment with confidence and because of that, he's scoring the goals... without him, we're stuffed.

We cannot bank on DJ at all. The man is virtually always the walking wounded.

And to say that Fryatt is fat is ludicrous.

If he goes he goes.

There is not much we can do its down to the club really. If he goes he will be missed, and if he stays he won't be. He is a good forward and was never given a proper chance in his correct position last season.

If he goes and Derby pay some ridiculous OTT price in January i would be happy, as long as we got a more than capable replacement in. (Ask Tunchev for a Bulgarian replacement  )

Woah!! I have 1000 times for faith in Fryatt scoring in the championship and DJ & Howard put together....These pair "Were" ment to be banging them away for us last season but failed to do so.I find it remarkable how our "Better Class" of players our constantly our worst performers and yet Fryatts getting the crap end of the stick!! Matty had a bad start to the season last year mainly the whole Matty + Martin Allen bust up obviously knocked the lad abit and hes showing us now the kind of form he's renowned for the lads only 23 and scored 14 for us this season heres some others that havent contributed a fraction as much effort as he has

DJ-never really done anything whilst in a blue shirt(us & brum) reminds me of the same players we replaced him with De Vries,Cort ect and hasnt even started to repay his transfer fee

Howard - yet another ex "prem" player who just (in my opinion) shows very little movemnt or effort during the time hes on the pitch, maybe if he ran his socks off abit more and got stuck in maybe he would be more of an asset

N'Gotty,Kishishev considering they have a combined age of 70ish a wealth of international, prem & Uefa experiance they dont even get on the team bus let alone team sheet i just dont see how they havent been given there P45's

Oakley,Clemence - granted Clemo has been out longer than dale winton yet the little bits i did see of him last season he wasnt the player i heard such great things about. Genrally just a waste of wages & transfer fee to see little to no return.

Thats 6 players that i would estamate at about 40/50k a week on wages that i feel could be utilised in other areas of the pitch, a couple of strikers i had in mind were Lindfield(free in june 09),Paynter,Cox & a player who should of been here years ago is Graham Kavaghan(spelling?).

im sure ive said things that may be considerd old ground but just feel there the ones letting the club down performance wise

You really are a coont sometimes.

How can you constitute leaving out the only regular goalscorer out of our team for two very injury prone players, one with a horrendous goal scoring record for us and another who is 36.

Utter drivel.

The reason why many (myself included) still doubt Fryatt despite his goalscoring this season is not because he had one bad season in the Championship, but two! And the guy WAS for the majority of the time played in his proper position. Now I'm not going to say he's not good enough for the Championshio full stop, but he will need to up his game if he is to establish himself at that level.

EDIT: Could someone clarify how many goals he did score during those two seasons? I believe it was 5.
