City Lad Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 City Land McGivern Nigel Pearson has bolstered his Leicester City squad with the loan signing of Ryan McGivern from Manchester City. The 19 year old left-back joins the Foxes until January from the Premier League side and City are waiting to hear back from the Premier League for Ryan to receive clearance to play in Monday night's clash against Newcastle United, at St. James' Park. McGivern, who is primarily a left-back, has been capped for Northern Ireland at youth and senior level and is a product of Manchester City's youth academy. He was part of their 2008 FA Youth Cup winning side that triumphed over Chelsea and was then loaned to Morecambe, where he played under former Northern Ireland Manager, Sammy McIlroy. City boss, Nigel Pearson, said: "We are delighted to secure the services of Ryan until January. He is player that we have been monitoring for a while." He added: "Ryan is an exciting prospect and will be a useful addition to our squad as we look to progress this season within the Coca-Cola Championship." To see if McGivern is involved against Newcastle, contact the ticket office before Monday midday, either in person, by phoning 0844 815 5000 or e-mail [email protected]. OS
MC Prussian Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 That means we got all areas covered now. At least until January. Welcome, Ryan!
Budweiser Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 Just cover I take it? Anyway, nice to know we have two left-backs.
Edmund Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 Never seen him play, sounds promising and good back up for Berner.

Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 I am pleased that we have sufficient cover for both full backs now, seems we have cover in all departments now.
Vacamion Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 What's that about?? Dude, it's cross-selling. Whilst they have your attention about one thing, they sell you another. Now... would you like some Insurance or a loan to consolidate your existing debt ???
Cobbo Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 Is he quick? The one thing our back line does lack is pace. Had Kerrea last year. Still not sure that he will displace Bruno, mind..

Little Nicky Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 Don't know much about him, but from what I've heard he sounds an exciting prospect, good signing that is!
Salieri Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 Don't know much about him, but from what I've heard he sounds an exciting prospect, good signing that is! Agreed. Plus, it frees up Berner to drop into a holding midfielder role should the need arise.
Super Arj Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 I'm sure Nigel Pearson gets the ideas for his transfer targets from foxestalk !
Fox92 Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 A nice signing to boost the squad, give back up options in every position and someone to help or stand in for Bruno if needed. Welcome, lets hope he will be a good signing.
Corky Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 Good signing, will give Berner some real competition.
maddog Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 Berner better not get dropped now because that will be a joke. And what about Chrissy Powell
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 Very good signing. This is the most excited I have been about the team since MON was in charge. NP is a very good manager and I for one thank him for putting some pride back into the club.
MPH Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 I dont know how big the squad is but for the first time i actually feel like we have a complete squad with all positions well covered. and i echo the sentiments of some... it would be very unfair to drop Berner right now... but will he stay consistent and, more important, injury free?

If he doesn't then id put Mc Nivern in but certainly wouldn't drop Berner for the Newcastle game when he's been our best performer this season so far along with Wheale.
