this all seems a bit harsh. Yes he has bad positional sense and often gives opposition wingers too much space, but i thought he deputised very well out of position in central defence against sheffield united.

He won most of the balls in the air and got good distance on his headers and also watch their goal again because Neilson let the ball bounch.

Also it was said that he shouldn't be used as cover, but considering berner, tunchev, brown, hobbs all have injuries who exactly would we use?

from what i've seen of him he looks promising

yes he is slightly lacking in his positional sense and can get easily beaten but he is very promising going forward, every cross i've seen him put in has been decent

i honestly believe he should be given a chance on the wing, maybe when berner is back when can try him on the wing, give say the last half hour against 1 of the lower teams

just a thought

When i saw him play against Reading away, i was banging my head against a brick wall :frusty:

But all credit to the young lad, he is getting more and more confident with every game! IMO of course!

What do you think of this kid. My personal opinion is that he needs to get out, he doesn't seem to be covering at all well in defence. The goal we conceded against Sheffield United was his fault, he should have been in for the clearance.

Half the team could have cleared it, but the final error was Neilson and Morrison (who both had decent games) in combination. I didn't see him today but he was solid against Sheffield United in an unfamiliar position.

I've been a fan of McGivern since we got him. He hasn't even had a full season in any division and he's getting better game by game.

Give him time, he's a decent player, and im sure Nige saw something in him

I have been a bit alarmed by him generally but credit where credits due he was decent today and between the two full backs we had playing he was the better. Fair play to the lad today.

Give the lad a break, he's getting more and more confidant with every game. Yes his positioning is a bit off but he's learning.

He had a decent game today it's obvious that he wasn't match fit before because today he was getting up and down the line quite a lot and managing to get back to cover.

The lad deserves a break .. let's face it we've had worse players in our team that have took less stick then Ryan .. Cammm down.

Happy to admit I know sod all about him prior to his arrival here but it wouldn't surprise me at all if someone told me he played as a center back at youth level and he's been shipped over to full back as a senior because he lacks strength.

He's got fuck all positional sense as a full-back though seemed to be more at home last week when shifted inside. Reminds me a bit of Stearman in that regard just without any of Stearman's confidence. Who knows if he's got a future or not, really? We'd all rather see Berner playing there but he's not the worst player we've ever seen in a City shirt.

I wouldn't have him back at the end of his loan spell but I think making new threads slagging him off every week is pretty pointless.

Not the best, his positional sense doesn't seem to exist and he gets done a bit easy for my liking. But you can tell that he can be a good player as long as he learns those things. And who better to teach you than Chris Powell? :P

Anything in the air he's fine with but right wingers always have joy against him. In the first half particularly he seemed to get beat by their winger far too comfortably. I don't think I've ever seen the lad block a cross or make a tackle at full-back.

Decent in the air.

Below average at tackling and passing.

Constantly gets himself completely out of position.

Conclusion.

I want Bruno Berner fit and playing.

Maybe if he was our player I'd have a lot more patience but he isn't.

a lot of people don't have any with our young players

At 6'2 he's a wee bit too tall to be playing fullback. Good in the air, quick as a rabbit, didn't look out of place at centre back - but lookscompletely out of his depth at left back, albeit he was decent today and against Sheffield United.

Not the best of players we have, but we've had far far worse sack of shits in our team over the years. And in all fairness, he has improved since the Reading horror show he produced, albeit at a snail pace. Either way, he's only playing as a cover for Berner anyway, so I'd cut him some slack.

he will probably end up a top quality Championship/lower Prem centre back

Probably? Seems like a random and bold statement just for the sake of it to me from what we've seen of him so far...

he looks to me like someone that was shunted to left back at about 15/16 because he is left footed and fast, seemed far more natural at CB

Maybe because he's now achieving some level of match fitness.

only seen him a couple of times and think he is poor not quick enough and not strong enough i realise he is young and needs to learn his trade but there is not a real lot of promise there right wingers have a field day against him
