Corky Posted 5 March 2010 Posted 5 March 2010 Featured in my first ever game at Filbert Street, and tbh was the only player I remember really, wore the number 7 shirt if I'm correct and perhaps can be labeled crap due to his lack of games during his period at the club, 30 or so appearances for £3 million. But I Seeing him at Filbert Street is lodged in my memory. Eadie was injured a lot, which was a shame. When he did play he showed real promise, sad that it didn't work out for him at the club.
Legend_in_blue Posted 5 March 2010 Posted 5 March 2010 Eadie was quality. Peter Canero anyone...? A waste of money...
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 5 March 2010 Posted 5 March 2010 Gotta be Frank Sinclair. Sincair was actually a very good player for us. Won player of the season once too i think.
iancognito Posted 6 March 2010 Posted 6 March 2010 Gary Coatsworth deserves a mention if only for the tackle on Paul Simpson in the play off final. Possibly the latest tackle ever. He didn't get booked for it either! Roger Milford, cracking ref Next nomination...David Oldfield. The guy could run. The guy could run with a ball but there was never an end product. He'd go box to box, run out of room & attempt to pass it back twenty yards to the nearest player and give the ball away. He was one of my favourite players for a season or two but the more you watched him, the more you saw why he took a fair bit of stick. Man City & Luton fans will probably have better memories of him. Nice entry on Wiki though David Charles Oldfield (born 30 May 1968 in Perth, Australia) is an ex-professional footballer, currently in charge of the reserve and U18 teams at Peterborough United. Oldfield attended Ousedale School in Newport Pagnell as his Secondary School and still holds the 100 metre record to this day.
Daggers Posted 6 March 2010 Posted 6 March 2010 Winner. Because he was absolutely fucking abysmal yet adored, as he still is for some completely bizarre reason, by the masses. Because he tried when so many others didn't - even I love him for that
Karljohn Posted 7 March 2010 Posted 7 March 2010 I've had a look through my book and it could have been a Norwegian by the name of Osvald signed on loan from Notts Forest in season 87-88. We lost 2-1 away at Palace 12th Septmeber 1987. He only made three appearances. As far as I can remember the only two we had in the mid to late 80s were Kjetil Osvald (as above) and Jari Rantanen who was built like a brick shithouse.
Sylvie85 Posted 7 March 2010 Posted 7 March 2010 Neil Lewis for me, i thought he was crap but he was one of my favourites, especially in that game against ipswich when John wark got sent off for ipswich and for some reason Neil Lewis thought he'd got sent off and left the pitch and went down the tunnel!!!!! Fooking brilliant. lcfcadam Posted 7 March 2010 Posted 7 March 2010 Estoy de acuerdo. In fact 'crap' might be a bit harsh - he is incredible in the air for a small guy and has got good technique, but surely he fits the bill for this thread perfectly. He was a favourite because he was the only actual football player in the City squad for quite a while... Defo another thing some people need to let go of.

Nice entry on Wiki though Absolutely, decent player but so negative. Good thing I read the thread for a change cos I was gonna put something like this. What we really want is people like Coatsworth as you said and this one from the same era... Roooooooooosteeeeeeer! Crap? Surely not.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 Absolutely, decent player but so negative.Crap? Surely not. Are you saying Kevin Russell had a good touch and a footballing mind? Rooster was no great player, but scored some corking goals for us and gave his all, was a great super-sub - but play him from kick-off... dire!
melrose Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 The second goal after Andy Peake's screamer at filbo in 1980 against Liverpool.
RGFox Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 I vote... Jason Lawrence (I think that was his name)...during the Little days I think...? Had been banged up for something and given a chance @ City. From Doncaster I think! Memeory fails me!! Always looked like he was gonna fall over and couldn't control for toffee. And 2nd place to Tricky Trev...really tried but useless!!

Can't find any pictures of him with the hair do!!
lcfc_jme Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 Because he tried when so many others didn't - even I love him for that <_< Can't fault his effort, or his ability to jump high in the air, but I'd have given my right arm to be allowed to do that for us and wouldn't have asked to have been paid for it either, so that won't wash with me. It's the minimum we should expect. Defo another thing some people need to let go of. No chance. See Barnsley away for a perfect example of the mongy hypno-hold he has over our fans.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 12 March 2010 Posted 12 March 2010 Arnar, Jon Ashton and his massive throw-ins used to be a favourite of mine as did little Jon Stevenson.

CosbehFox Posted 12 March 2010 Posted 12 March 2010 Rob Ullathorne Ullathorne was quality and I am pretty sure he won player's player here one season. Seems to be some confusion over the topic of the thread. I'd take it as a hard workers who were simply crap in footballing ability despite running their socks for us managed to gain some success....like Benjamin, Coatsworth, Sticks, Oldfield, Lowe. Even possibly Ian Marshall Worst you are looking at players like Lee Marshall, Junior Lewis, Josh Low, Elvis Hammond.

CosbehFox Posted 12 March 2010 Posted 12 March 2010 Doesn't the previous paragraph also applied to Hammond? I am failing to remember what sort of success he had with us or any 'match winning' moments off him (bar that beast of a shot at Wolves).
Mr Happy Posted 13 March 2010 Posted 13 March 2010 I am failing to remember what sort of success he had with us or any 'match winning' moments off him (bar that beast of a shot at Wolves). His goal against spurs in the FA cup at the walkers turned the game in our favour did it not? As for my two players, Big Barry and The King, you'll find them below.
