Ahhh, wife jokes.

 

You can't make jokes about black people, gay people, Jewish people, Irish people or disabled people, but the person you vowed to love and support until death... fair game!

Yeah, wife jokes are a bit out of order really.

 

I was chatting to a mate down the pub this afternoon and he said “What’s wrong fella, you seem really sad?”

 

I said “It’s the wife. We had a row and she said that she isn’t going to speak to me for a month”

 

He said “What’s the problem, sounds great to me!”

 

I said “It’ll be four weeks tomorrow”

"The wife" doesn't yet count as a minority group that can be caused offence by discriminatory jokes or being refused entry to a restaurant based on her marital status, unless she starts a pressure group to protest against wife-phobism, in which case "she" can start a rally and organise marches in support of her cause. In years to come there will be LGBT and T(he)W(ife) marches all over the land, eagerly hailed and promoted by the BBC in order to counter the accusation that they don't represent enough minorities in their programmes.
