Carter The Boss Posted 16 October 2010 Posted 16 October 2010 According to a poster on TB the Walkers will become the Singha from January 2011. http://www.talkingba...81&postcount=29 The stadium name is the one thing that I don't really like about the whole takeover, that said, if we get in the Prem I couldn't give a monkeys what the ground is called. I'd prefer it to be Singa @ The Fosse Stadium or something..
Matt Posted 16 October 2010 Posted 16 October 2010 When Newcastle changed the name of their stadium I felt and commented it was abit like selling their soul however ours is a sponsorship named stadium anyway, so sort of different, I'd prefer The King Power Stadium if we're going down the changing name but still a sponsorship named stadium not keen on The Singha Stadium, but I'll just start calling it Filbert Way which I know many people already do.
blueharmie Posted 16 October 2010 Posted 16 October 2010 sounds like a curry house, what an embarasing name that would be.
Samilktray Posted 16 October 2010 Posted 16 October 2010 99% of our fans slag off our stadium anyway, so I dont see why theyd be bothered.
Cat Burger Posted 16 October 2010 Posted 16 October 2010 One poster in particular might like this! I have no opinion because 'the Walkers' is a bob name in itself..
SarbannesFoxley Posted 16 October 2010 Posted 16 October 2010 Some people will moan about everything! Yes Walkers is a local brand but times move on, we now have foreign owners like a lot of clubs now. Hell, look at the arse about face at Liverpool, at least we have a new stadium - how has it happened that a top 4 club in the most famous league in the world, with all the money thats flowed into the sport oin the last 10 years, and they still haven't managed to build a new ground. Its criminal. We are lucky to have solid (so far) new owners (with money and ambition), from a country/region where there there is real potential to build a good fan base for us, and now they are bringing in other major corporates from that country/region to sponsor the team/stadium. Plus we have a new manager who is one of the most famous in the world. Wheres the negative in any of that? If you're not excited by whats happening at LCFC right now, then I'm sorry but you've got issues :-)
JimmyK Posted 16 October 2010 Posted 16 October 2010 Can we all just start referring to it as Filbert Way instead?
Rincewind Posted 16 October 2010 Posted 16 October 2010 The name doesnt bother me. maybe they'll give give away the beer at games. Anyone tried it? Supposed to be their biggest seller and a major brand but cant say I've heard of it.
Phube Posted 16 October 2010 Posted 16 October 2010 The name doesnt bother me. maybe they'll give give away the beer at games. Anyone tried it? Supposed to be their biggest seller and a major brand but cant say I've heard of it. It's the like Cobras/Kingfishers of the beer world. Sell it in 90% of Thai restaurants... lovely stuff...
Trav Le Bleu Posted 16 October 2010 Posted 16 October 2010 Singha, some people think it's a library! But I still got it.
LCFCkid Posted 16 October 2010 Posted 16 October 2010 Stringer posted on twitter walkers/singha beer stadium
Ozwin Posted 16 October 2010 Posted 16 October 2010 If they let us drink in our seats then I'm all for it.
dave the caveman Posted 16 October 2010 Posted 16 October 2010 I wonder when the first batch of confusion will start over its pronunciation
Ozwin Posted 16 October 2010 Posted 16 October 2010 Really don't like it. It's not British, it's not related to Leicester, it's just ugh. Everyone will still call it the Walkers anyway. 'You go to the Singha on Saturday?' 'You wot? '
samjohnson Posted 16 October 2010 Posted 16 October 2010 Singha... it has a certain "ring-ha" to it... But seriously... make it Filbert Way already... LISTEN TO THE FANS!
Salieri Posted 16 October 2010 Posted 16 October 2010 Not the greatest name in the world. Nor is the current name to be fair. Hate all the branding thing but it's just the way things are nowadays unfortunately.
ScouseFox Posted 16 October 2010 Posted 16 October 2010 Not bothered really. Walkers isn't great, neither's Singha. Meh.
jonthefox Posted 16 October 2010 Posted 16 October 2010 Can we all just start referring to it as Filbert Way instead?
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 16 October 2010 Posted 16 October 2010 Shocking if true. Be a **** laughing stock. We are **** English sounds like a curry house, what an embarasing name that would be. this
