Wymsey Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 How good will these premier teams be though if Villa are willing to let him go and lose money? If we're doing well in January he may be more willing to come to us than sign for a team that be facing relegation. I reckon someone like Wigan or West Ham may look at him by how much they are conceding atm.
Smudge Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 There will be Prem' teams after him, and I doubt we can gamble on 30/40k wages. If that is so, why wasn't he snapped up by premier team in the summer?
Tommy G Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 I think Naughton is of equal priority if not more so. if he shoots off in jan then we will be back to the likes of Morrison/Neilson at right back which is enough to make the kids in the north stand cry.

Could the reserve youngster Tom Parkes do a better job?
Babylon Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 Mirror He is paid £25k a week according to the papers but yes you are right about the prem teams bit. Stuff I've seen said over £40k a week, I would be surprised if he is on 25k considering they signed him for £10 ish and he was long rumoured to be going to Arsenal.
Babylon Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 If that is so, why wasn't he snapped up by premier team in the summer? Probably because of his injury problems, if he plays for us between now and January and proves his fitness I can't believe no premier league teams would be interested in him.

hackneyfox Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 25k plus 10k if he plays another game for them?

J.Lisemore Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 fooking brilliant. As has been said... hes a monster in this league.

Trawl through the Villa forums and his wage varies from 20k to 45k 30k Approaching 40k a week Take the Rooney saga for example literally every newspaper stated a completely different figure ranging from 150k to 250k a week. Even if he is on 25k, the going rate for someone like Davies in the Premier will be above the 25k mark now without question, as long as he proves his fitness.

Agreed. If Davies was to suddenly go then Hobbs would come in and do a good job in my opinion, but without Naughton I don't think the replacements are up to it, however much Neilson tries.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 Don't think getting either Naughton or Davies in January would be unrealistic in honesty. Not likely, but not impossible by any means.

Ah! Didn't know he had injury problems or if I did I had forgotten. Obviously as he is playing regularly he's able to showcase his abilities....Seems like Mark Davies all over again Edit oops ......Mark

Edmund Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 Hopefully we'll get him on a permanent deal in January.
The Padster Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 Hopefully we'll get him on a permanent deal in January. Chuck Villa 3 million quid and some of them Thai prossies and we'm laughing!
Mee Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 Great deal, lets hope for him permanently in January! Whip out your Thai brides Sven!
Heskey2011 Posted 10 November 2010 Posted 10 November 2010 Brilliant news, he looks like he's really enjoying his football here. Superb player...Class
Wymsey Posted 22 November 2010 Posted 22 November 2010 Reports in Birmingham say Aston Villa are set to launch a bid to sign centre back David Wheater for £1.2m. Does this make Leicester to have a great chance of signing him permanently? He would be great addition.

Does this make Leicester to have a great chance of signing him permanently? He would be great addition. You'd think so. However, being sold to us is another matter. I'm guessing his loan runs out on Dec 31st/1st Jan? If Villa don't have a deal complete by then, they'll want him back over the busy New Year period, and there's no guarantee that he'll be sold to Leicester. Yes there's the advantage that he might grow to like us due to him playing here already, but if a Premier League club notices how well he's played here, and see that he's gone further down the pecking order at Villa, then it won't be hard for them to come and swoop for him. We just have to hope that should we compete against other clubs to sign him permanently, Davies likes us enough to sign for us and not a Premier League club.
Edmund Posted 22 November 2010 Posted 22 November 2010 I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Villa are reluctant to play him again because he has a clause in his contract which gives him a pay increase after so many appearances. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's the case. Davies will definitely leave Villa, there's no doubt about that but I can see a club like Wolves buying him in the January transfer window. Davies has worded every interview carefully whilst on loan with us, he hasn't ruled out a perm move but reading between the lines he's definitely holding out for a prem club to come in for him. If that fails then we stand a great chance

A club which can afford to pay John Carew £160K p/w and pick up his tax bills and ancillaries isn't going to quibble over a pay-rise for Davies, they aren't Portsmouth. I think it only comes into play with regards making him a more costly player to shift when they have no intention of re-integrating him back into the squad. If he'd proved his worth to them he'd have had games, but he didn't so he's on his way, is the general feeling.
