darko2k7 Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Was it King who won the ball that lead to our first? No it was Super Stevie Howard
Leicester_Loyal Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Good job they don't give a damn about us or they'd be well gutted about now. LOOOL. Completely agree, if they did, they'd be a few mardy sheep shaggers tonight.
ramadaone Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Webbo Pretty much agree with everything there but think Abe does a lot of work that goes unnoticed - in effect he sweeps in fron of the back 4 allowing King and Wellens to go forward but more importantly it allows the 2 full backs to overlap knowing someone is covering - Naughton is absolute class and would be my first signing in Jan if I was Sven. Think everyone agrees the minute silence was a complete cock up but certain individuals from both sides compouned it with their mindless shouting - a few old soldiers will be turning in their graves Hate to say it but Derby missed Savage - far too many 50 yard Hollywood passes that City dealt with fairly easily - when you have a slowcoach like Howard up front make him run about by keeping the ball but Derby lost patience too quickly and fair play to City we capitalised big time and a bigger winning margin would not have been an unfair scoreline Personally would have taken Howard off a little bit earlier as he had no more to give after running his socks off and think Waggy would have exploited the gaps at the back Derby left when they went gung ho - but who I am I to question the great man !?!
Leicester_Loyal Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Did anyone see Bernie before or after the match? I'd love to know his thoughts on today, anyone got an idea? Saw him on the First bus and he had some very constructive views on todays match, they were as follows: AHHHH DERBY 2 AHHH
Thracian Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 How much more fun it is to be savouring positives. There was talk afterwards about Sven being a manager who gets lucky, his success is not about luck. For a start Sven has taken next to no time to decide his best team and most of the fans would pretty well agree with it. What he does is to pick the most reliable and effective players to compliment what he wants to do. It sounds so simple but it's not. We've been years and years attending to the obvious need of playing attacking full-backs. We've been years in utilising King as a late-running attacker, years putting together a cohesive unit that plays for one another, years developing a side that attacks as a unit and defends as a unit, years selecting defenders who pass the ball and years getting enough movement in our side to score goals. That's not luck - it's an observant man dealing with what should be obvious but sadly wasn't to our previous managers, and that includes Pearson. Today's performance wasn't brilliant by any means. But it was professional and I've seen very few profesional performances over 90 minutes from Leicester these last few seasons. Someone mentioned that the players seemed to know their job and how right that was but also, they were to a man playing for each other. I expected Derby to pose an attacking threat but what a compliment to the all round attitude of our team that they had very few chances and that Weale didn't have a serious save to make all match. That's not luck, that's Sven getting the best out of players, Our of people like Gallagher who used to be the occasional man but is now having much more effect and involvement on a consistent basis, partly because he's got more support and more movement around him. King is getting goals for the same reason and because people are trying to spot his runs and thread a pass through. Today's effort was typical but there were other runs which almost attracted the right pass too. Wellens is another whose consistency level is improving and who is playing much quicker passes and therefore becoming much mor useful in helping moves to progress. Abe is in most effective position, Howard looks uplifted, Dyer's been on fire all season and a handful and there's an atmosphere of real comeraderie because instead of just the attackers beuing expecting to defend the defendes are now expected to attack which is how it should be. Well done Naughton, for instance, for driving through into the box at such a late stage of a game which we were leading and forcing Derby to get careless and concede a penalty. That wouldn't have happened since Stearman was here. Sven is not lucky, he just gives himself the more chances of winning than a lot of managers by attending to the details I mentioned had been so neglected in the past. Well done one and all. That was a 90 minute team performance. Not one that was perfect but one that had tempo almost throughout and one which never gave Derby a realisitic hope of winning,.
Asha Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Yeah, before more people go on to call everybody a cunt regarding the minute silence, it was in the main a misunderstanding. If there were any instructions as to what to do, I couldn't hear them in L1 amidst the usual pre-game chanting - and judging by the reactions of some of the players to break out of the team gathering on the centre circle after the last post, they were confused too. On realising it though, everyone should have just shut up and stop calling each other on it. One Derby fan starts being a **** and 500 people in L1 respond? How the fuck is that 'keeping the silence'? Derby fans were terrible today, hardly made a noise all game. Why couldn't they have been that quiet during the silence? Actually, I've just wasted my time as my thoughts on it have already been summed up. The minutes silence debacle was initially a misunderstanding but with both sets of fans shouting wankers at each other trying to score points off each other during the rest of the minute was just pathetic and our fans were just as bad as theirs.
Jakemoore Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 "you are my Leicester BLUES BLUES my only Leicester BLUES BLUES you make me happy when skies are grey, you'll never notice how much I love you so please don't take my Leicester away" <3 <3 <3 King Sven <3 <3 <3
Joe. Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Derby were outplayed, outfought and well beaten. Bar the Green header on the hour mark they offered very little going forward and barely tested Weale. So as it was, we took full advantage and took home a deserved win. The back four were solid, Naughton and Cunningham both offered a lot going forward and Hobbs put in a very encouraging performance after his midweek horror show. Wellens put in one of his best performances of the season, King grabbed yet another goal from the former's superb ball through, while Gallagher worked tirelessly down the right. But the man of the match award surely has to fall to Howard, who completely bossed Leacock at the back. Another goal for him through a cracking penalty to cap off a dominant performance where he looked so useful in linking up play. We still look heavily reliant on him, but I'm glad Eriksson has seen that he is one of our strengths over a lot of sides and we are using him appropriately. All in all, very much deserved three points. Another clean sheet and another step closer towards the play-offs.
sdb Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 from what i saw Abe was sheilding the back 4 very effectively, getting stuck in. Wellens and King stood out but that's not necessarily Abe's job.
The Doctor Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 good game. Disappointed with the lack of respect show during the minutes silence though. Derby were poor imo and i can't see how they are where they are, Or we were far better and made them look abysmal. edit: Bilo, was that you (amongst others) that went over to chat those lasses up at half-time?
Guy Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 "WE'RE ON FIRE"!! Another terrific win over the enemy mk.1! Sounded good, wish I could've been there but will be for Forest - and then Watford away! Not been since QPR at home in September! I heard Messrs. Savage was rested for the sheep but still got abuse aplenty so well done! - although a great shame about the Remembrance Day mintue's silence being spoiled but as they saying goes there's always someone to do that..... Glad to hear Hobbs was back to his bnest and that the movement throughout the team was back to it's dynamic best, like last season. Keep it up Sven and the lads!
StanSP Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Great to see the text from my dad at 6pm saying we won 2-0 :D. Made my day! Fish and chips tonight will taste so much better!

Actually, I've just wasted my time as my thoughts on it have already been summed up. It happened exactly the same last year, unfortunately the only way to understand what the procedure is would be to listen to Birch but people frankly don't bother and who can blame them as most of the time it's dribble. The club need to learn from this and make more effort and provide other ways to get the message across of Last post, minutes silence, refs whistle.
ramadaone Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 In true Leicester spirit I feel I need to have a moan about something so here it is - how on earth can Vassel get in the team in front of Dyer ?
Bilo Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 good game. Disappointed with the lack of respect show during the minutes silence though. Bilo Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Great performance, on and off the field. Superb atmosphere in the Kop and on the pitch, we made Derby look mediocre. They looked so poor today with absolutely no attacking threat. That's probably more of a compliment towards us than anything else because we schooled them in every area. We mugged em in defence, outplayed them in midfield and dry bum fooked em up front. Much fun. I'm drunk. So drunk.
Facecloth Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 It happened exactly the same last year, unfortunately the only way to understand what the procedure is would be to listen to Birch but people frankly don't bother and who can blame them as most of the time it's dribble. Like you say half the time he babbling on about something irrelevant, and the rest of the time his microphone is cutting out. Would make more sense to broadcast important messages like that over the tannoy.
Heskey2011 Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Great result today, very happy with the performance and the dominance we've shown, if we can keep playing like we did against Leeds,Barnsley and Derby promotion isn't too unrealistic. is it:? We're 5 points off 4th, and yes, a long way to 2nd - 13pts, and it's only November. I would love to consider auto-promotion spot but not just yet, see where we're at in the new year. Happy to see King getting on the score sheet, quality player. Sven's had a massive impact, haven't seen city play football as good as this for a while.
shailen Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 In true Leicester spirit I feel I need to have a moan about something so here it is - how on earth can Vassel get in the team in front of Dyer ? Agreed Vassell doesnt look completely match fit! Dyer at the current moment should definately without doubt be in that starting line up. I think Sven has got an obvious soft spot for him!
wakeyfox01 Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Makes you wonder why they get Birch to do it. Like you say half the time he babbling on about something irrelevant, and the rest of the time his microphone is cutting out. Would make more sense to broadcast important messages like that over the tannoy. They did say it over the tannoy at least twice before the helicopter and I think again after that as well. The minutes silence started when the ref blew his whistle but some seemed to be too concerned with chanting after the last post to hear it as there was a 10 second gap. Also if someone says something ignore it rather than pipe up as this makes things even worse.
FrankieADZ Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Great result today, a bootyful thru ball from Wellens for King's goal btw. Thought we played really well for the first 35 mins the we kinda laboured/sat back...letting Derby come back in but they didnt really pose a problem Derby, Think its stop Commons you kinda stop Derby in a way. So Lets hope we keep up this good run and give Bristol City and Forest a good seeing too

Philbert Fox Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Well done lads! Nothing better in football than beating one of your local rivals! A win at Ashton Gate next Saturday and we could be in the top half of the table!
