Captain... Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 'I think Sven has made mistakes this season' Thats nuts! Any of Svens so called mistakes can be scrutinised at the end of the season or if we are playing poorly (Unbeaten in 5). He has performed a minor miracle with us so far. IN SVEN WE TRUST! Bednar and Kirkland spring to mind, not just wastes of money but unsettled our existing players, Sven is doing a great job but he has still made mistakes.

Unsettled our existing players? Weale for one has been playing amazingly throughout Svens obvious search for a new goalkeeper, so cant agree with that.
Kitchandro Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 Unsettled our existing players? Weale for one has been playing amazingly throughout Svens obvious search for a new goalkeeper, so cant agree with that. Apart from those mistakes he was making amid rumours Kirkland was being brought in.
SMX11 Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 I would send him to Derby. The only thing he could do is help us, Derby aren't gonna threat the playoff positions and he needs some game time.
leicesterisme Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 Sven says Bruma from #chelsea not happened just yet but I expect it in the next couple of days and Hobbs to go out on loan
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 There's more to football than just being good. It's also about relating to your team. If I can't relate to them I couldn't care less how good they are. What an idiot.
DarkTranquillity Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 Maybe Chris Powell would be interested? He knows him very well already and would really help Hobbs' confidence.
lestajigs Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 **** me why is Sven obsessed with sending him out!!!!!!
cc_star Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 What an idiot. Not really. Everyone here wants to see Leicester progress to the Prem (preferably this season) and then presumably go on to challenge in the top half and win the odd cup, some people want that identify with the players, have a hero or two and go on the journey together, some people sound like they'll happily support a team of 11 mercenaries & a different 11 each week if it gets the jobs done. Both people want the same end result, with just different ways of getting there, does that make anyone an idiot?
cc_star Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 **** me why is Sven obsessed with sending him out!!!!!! He needs to play & not be on a bench, his performances under Sven haven't been world-beating like Bamba's, Wellens' & King's have
Guest BlueBrett Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 I like Hobbs as much as anyone but ultmately if he is going to be 4th or even 5th choice what is the point in keeping him to warm the bench each week?
paddy Agyemang Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 HOBBS IS BETTER THAN BEN MEE !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stevosevic Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 HOBBS IS BETTER THAN BEN MEE !!!!!!!!!!!!! Sven and Stuart Pearce don't seen to think so. Sure they know better than most.
cc_star Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 Sven and Stuart Pearce don't seen to think so. Sure they know better than most. Stuart Pearce may be thinking differently now though....
B52 Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 I think it's ridicoulus to defend the fringe players. The team underperformed under Sousa and are paying the prize for it now. Players who up their game develops and continue in first team. I will give a few examples. Hobbs and Morrison is great defending with the right amount of support from the midfield. Great under Pearson but to limited for Sven. Sven wants more action and dragging the players, of the other teams, apart. Full speed over the field and high class finishers will result in more space and time for our players with the ball. Waghorn and Dyer are great players but they don't send shivers through the other teams. When we have the Yak and Vassell, the other team knows that they have to mark thoose players more. Gallagher spoke of it in an interview and I've said it all along: ""The manager said we could get in the holes between their midfield and defence and, if we had a chance to shoot, to take it," said Gallagher." This is what happened to us when other team drag us apart earlier and got easy goals from distance. Hopefully with the defence we have and if we can get Bruma we don't concede such goals at all. This give Weale a lot better confidence when the oppo have limited views of scoring, easier shots to save.
muzzy1981 Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 Bednar and Kirkland spring to mind, not just wastes of money but unsettled our existing players, Sven is doing a great job but he has still made mistakes. Never saw the best of Kirland because of injury and Bednar clearly didn't have the right attitude (But...scored 17 goals in 25 games in championship previously, so worth a punt). So that’s one bad loan signing. Fans have got to trust Svens abilities in handling footballers, he has done it at all levels for nearly 35 years and has medals coming out of all orifices!
MC Prussian Posted 8 February 2011 Author Posted 8 February 2011 I can't see why loaning a player like Hobbs is such a bad thing. No matter where he'll end up for the next couple of months, if he gets steady amount of playing time, it'll only do him and us good. Hobbs is a solid defender with potential to be even better and with the current squad that we have and the competition in the centre-back department, it's only logical to keep your iron(s) hot. Obviously, in order to push for promotion, you need depth in squad. We have that and have the luxury of rotating players (to a certain extent). Hobbs is a talent, he's an asset and should he go out on loan with a recall clause (which is what I'm assuming), he'd be back just in time for the playoffs.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 If Sven wasnt doing well I'd be moaning likehell about getting rid of Hobbs on loan, but then you have to trust Sve. Althouhg I think it should be Hobbs and Bamba at the back.
reynard Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 What do the following players all have in common? Mee Wellens King Yakubu Vassell Abe Gallagher Naughton Answer is they are all technically gifted and competent players comfortable with the ball at their feet and generally able to pass the ball accurately to a team mate. What do the following players have in common? Morrison (I know we sold him) Hobbs Neilson Waghorn Howard Basically they are good pro footballers who try hard and have a certain amount of footballing skill and play with a big heart. Sadly whilst these are very admirable assets they are no longer enough to play at the top level. If you hear Sven talk he talks often about a player's great "technical ability" or so and so is "technically very good" and this coupled with pace and desire is what I believe he is looking for in all our players. There can be no doubt that the players he has brought in have largely improved the technical quality of our squad and one of the reasons both Wellens and King are playing so well is that they both have high technical skills and now they are surrounded by better players who themselves have these same skills. Waghorn and Hobbs are both young and have time to improve but they need to work on the technical side of the game. Sven knows this and this is why he is prepared to let them go out on loan should they wish to do so. I've a great deal of time for them both and whilst I'd be sad to see them go if they can't/won't improve then we and they have to move on because if we are serious about reaching and staying in the premier league then the often limited style of play we adopted last season simply won't be good enough over the course of a full season to maintain a premier league place.
Webbo Posted 8 February 2011 Posted 8 February 2011 Bamba is Right CB, Brown was a Left CB there's no comparison between the two with Hobbs playing in his natural and best position with Brown. Hoobs has only been play the left CB role because we've had no other options there. Bamba has replaced Hobbs. Why is it that it's always Hobbs who has to play out of position on the left and not one of the others? Anyhoo, don't know if this has been posted yet. Hull City boss Nigel Pearson is looking to the loan market to strengthen his side, despite signing five players during the January transfer window.BBC Radio Humberside understands that City could be looking for a central midfielder or a central defender. Pearson said: "If the right players are available and we can do it, it makes sense to add one, maybe two.

Anyhoo, don't know if this has been posted yet. I know, Ive always wondered why they just cant try Bamba on the left and Hobbs right just to try it.

Sorry but as good as Mee has been in the last 2 games he has shown little technical ability. He wins headers, he's a good tackler and can do the basics of passing (as can Hobbs) but he can't really do much with the ball. Most of the time he plays it short or over the top. And Waghorn clearly has technical skill. He showed that last season. Yes he can balloon some shots but when he's full of confidence he has a great first touch and is skillfull. That is what struck me in his early games for Leicester and throughout his first season. He will not find this though with 2 minute appearances. 30 minute appearances is another matter though. You've also left Dyer out of both lists. I suspect that's because you know he has little technical skill but also think that he is a valuable player. Different players have different assetts and different positions require different assetts.

Anyhoo, don't know if this has been posted yet. Agreed, if it's such a big deal I'd like to see Bamba on the left and Hobbs on the right. Then give it a few games. I'm convinced there wouldn't be a problem with that.
