shen Posted 11 June 2011 Posted 11 June 2011 At least the two transfers above are English players and the money stays in the country rather than going out of the country. I don't get your logic here nor the relevance of it 'staying in the country'. And you do realize that of the involved clubs, three are owned by Americans and one is Indian-owned right?
MikeyT Posted 11 June 2011 Posted 11 June 2011 Nathan Tyson agrees terms and passes a medical with Derby County from arch rivals Nottingham Forest on a free transfer
Corky Posted 11 June 2011 Posted 11 June 2011 He'll wave a Derby corner flag in front of the Forest fans next season
leicesterisme Posted 11 June 2011 Posted 11 June 2011 Roger Johnson has been told he has to leave Birmingham according to Graeme Bailey who works for Sky Sports. http://twitter.com/#!/SkyGraemeBailey That'd be a great signing for Arsenal, just the kind of defender they need.

And you do realize that of the involved clubs, three are owned by Americans and one is Indian-owned right? Ignore my comment, you are right. I was like at least the money will be staying the countyr and forgot that they were owned by non-English people
Bert Posted 12 June 2011 Posted 12 June 2011 Charlie Adam is going Liverpool. They need defenders more than anything I'd say.
stix Posted 13 June 2011 Posted 13 June 2011 Ipswich have snapped up ingemarsson(sp) & look set to sign st ledger too.
Libertine Posted 13 June 2011 Posted 13 June 2011 Downing to Liverpool also. Bit of an odd one. Not that special in my opinion.
ScouseFox Posted 13 June 2011 Posted 13 June 2011 Looking like they'll pay pretty much what United did for Young as well, who's a far better player. Adam to Liverpool for £9m is doing the rounds on Twitter/newspapers and that. Because Liverpool are in desperate need for central midfielders.
Mikey Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 Liverpool 4-3-3: Adam - Gerrard - Henderson Downing - Carroll - Suarez Much better than in recent years.
Dickie Greenleaf Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 Liverpool 4-3-3: Adam - Gerrard - Henderson Downing - Carroll - Suarez Much better than in recent years. That midfield three would be ridiculous. Each of them constantly looking for the killer hollywood pass and no-one to do any of the ground work. Plus Meireles, who was arguably their best player under Dogfish might feel a bit hard done by. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/arsenal/8574732/Arsenal-close-in-on-Lille-striker-Gervinho.html Transfer policy seems to be based on trying to find someone who looks more ridiculous than Sagna
ScouseFox Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 Meireles has been better than either of those three this year since Kenny cane in. Lucas was voted player of the year, and Kenny has insisted he wants to continue playing the likes of Spearing to blood the youth. So they now have about 6 or 7 central midfielders of a pretty similar standard. Someone's gonna get pissed off. And Kuyt has massively out performed Downing since the turn of the year. As has Maxi. Gonna be a lot of competition for places.
Libertine Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 West Ham rumoured to be signing Abdoulaye Faye. Elliott Bennett has gone to Norwich also, from Brighton.
StanSP Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 Great signing for Norwich I think. Only 22 and I'm pretty sure he's relishing playing in the Premier League. Is he good enough, though, for the Premier League? Only time will tell!
Wymsey Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 Great signing for Norwich I think. Only 22 and I'm pretty sure he's relishing playing in the Premier League. Is he good enough, though, for the Premier League? Only time will tell! Yeah, I think he's ready for the next step up, our league, but to play in the PL with just lower league experience is possibly too much for him unfortunately in terms of adapting to much more pacey and more direct football.
AjcW Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 Any players left in the championship/lower leagues or have Norwich snapped them all up?
Corky Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 Any money Norwich get labelled "the new Blackpool". I reckon Swansea will have that tag.
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 14 June 2011 Posted 14 June 2011 Liverpool need defenders. Charlie Adam should hold out for a move elsewhere if possible. Merieles, Lucas & Kuyt should be majorly pissed off if they don't make the first team regularly.
Happy Fox Posted 15 June 2011 Posted 15 June 2011 http://www.guardian-series.co.uk/sport/westham/westhamnews/9084612.West_Ham_striker_leaves_club/? West Ham striker Demba Ba has reportedly left the club after turning down a £50,000 a week contract offer. The 26-year-old scored seven goals in ten Premier League starts last season and is not prepared to play in the Championship. Ba has been strongly linked with a move to either Everton or Newcastle United. Alan Pardew, the Newcastle boss, said: “Demba Ba has done very well since he came to England, and he's a good player. I'm very much aware of him, and I probably know what he is capable of more than most because I've known about him for a while, before he went to West Ham. We're not the only club who are interested, but we are trying. There is always competition, and we will keep plugging away. "If we can get him and another two in before the end of next week I'll still be looking for another two new faces to join us before the start of the season." Senegalese striker Ba had a release clause which has been activated after their relegation which will allow him to leave on a free transfer. It is understood German midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger has also been allowed to leave on a free transfer.
StanSP Posted 15 June 2011 Posted 15 June 2011 Why is he dropping down a level?? The only link I can make is that Fat Sam is there too? Certainly can't be wages, surely not?!
