Len Finsbury Posted 7 June 2011 Posted 7 June 2011 I can't help but feel disappointed that it's come to this for Hobbs. Always thought he would be one of our stalwarts for many years to come. Yes, he has his flaws but we've seen him solid a lot more often than ropey. I'd be inclined to keep him if he was happy to stay. He's still only young yet. From Player of the Season to nobody in two seasons! I wonder how many of our former, much loved players wouldn't suit Sven's philosophy? Without being pessimistic, if this revolution goes tits up, we'll be grateful of a player like Hobbs in the team.

I know we dont always know the full story of any situation but NP must be having a right old laugh.......... Dylan Posted 7 June 2011 Posted 7 June 2011 I'd like to see more of him but can't see him being in Sven's plans. He was very good in League One, and in NP's last season; looked comfortable and solid imo. Was poor at the start of the recent season, but feel he has huge potential. Personally, I think anything less than £1.5million is a great deal for Hull.

I feel the same, but if we really are going to have a proper go at getting into the Prem then Hobbs is only ever going to be a squad player. He's defo not Svens cup of tea. You certainly needs 4 players who can play center back, 3 of them need to be really good. We have Tunch and Bamba (who sometimes falls asleep) so Sven needs to sign another 2...this is all presuming Tunchev's knee holds out. He's the key to our defence next season

Probably doesn't matter though does it? I think we should be looking for at least £1m. Anything over £1.5m would be a bit of a rip off for them.
chesterfox Posted 7 June 2011 Posted 7 June 2011 It's a question of judgement isnt it - we have to trust in Sven's judgement but it just seems odd that a player can be so good one year and so average the next. You don't become a bad player over the summer break and as many have said Sven needs (and probably has in place) several replacements. Re Bruma - it is again just an opinion - every time i saw him he conceded free kick or penalty time aafter time.

davieG Posted 7 June 2011 Posted 7 June 2011 I'm not bothered one way or the other about any players these days as I have no great affinity with them, they come and they go before you even get to know them, in our position there's usually better options out there and as winning at any cost seems to be the name of the game I feel no benefit in getting concerned or bothered about them.

Corky Posted 7 June 2011 Posted 7 June 2011 Hobbs was just as shaky as Bruma at the start of the season, hence why Sven chose to look elsewhere for players. I like Hobbs and it's a shame he's going but if he'd performed better while Sven was here then he might've been in our squad next season.

Wasn't the fee around 1.5M - for a player with absolutely no future at leicester, hull paid over the odds for fryatt.
