Deucalion Posted 15 August 2015 Posted 15 August 2015 Did anyone else catch Jonathan Pearce twatting on on Radio 5 at lunchtime? Was talking about the retained backroom staff, and he lazily assumed that the Steve Walsh he referred to was legendary Steve Walsh, rather than the Scout. What a berk, he has been tweeted. What's shocking is that people paid to know about and talk about football have less knowledge and research skills than the average football forum fan,

The Horse's Mouth Posted 15 August 2015 Posted 15 August 2015 Are you really getting annoyed at that? Anybody who had doubts at the start of the season and who is willing to write them all off after two games would be a ****ing idiot.
Staffs Fox Posted 15 August 2015 Posted 15 August 2015 https://twitter.com/philmcnulty/status/632590203413221376 What an absolute melt. So he has doubts over our title challenge, so what?
Papasmurf Posted 15 August 2015 Posted 15 August 2015 Decent fans. A few of them clapping us on their way out today.

Anybody who had doubts at the start of the season and who is willing to write them all off after two games would be a ****ing idiot. This. I still have my doubts. I've been very impressed with some of what I've seen but we still aren't the finished article yet for me. 6 points ahead of the likes of Sunderland already though.

I've been very impressed with some of what I've seen but we still aren't the finished article yet for me. 6 points ahead of the likes of Sunderland already though. He had us to finish 19th. I can't see how he can possibly maintain that prediction.

Master Fox Posted 15 August 2015 Posted 15 August 2015 Bollox. Under Nige I would say we'd probably have drew or lost the game today.

Popular Post smudger63 Posted 15 August 2015 Popular Post Posted 15 August 2015 Well i for one went into this season without any doubts, and said before a ball was kicked i think we will be fine and might well surprise a few people. So far i have seen nothing to change my mind. As for the Andy Dunn article in the mirror, that`s the same Andy Dunn who i think predicted us to be relegated, where basically he`s saying that the way we are playing is down to Pearson, well maybe he should take into account, that taking over from a manager that has been successfull is actually often a poison chalice, and many managers like to change the team and style of play to put their own mark on the team Ranieri has come in and kept what was working, and is trying to improve on it. When Ranieri took over, the pundits and media already assumed he wouldn`t be able to get the best out of Pearsons players, and he would tinker and ultimately fail, but of course because so far he`s pretty much kept to the same style, (in fact if anything we may actually be even more cavalier in our approach) they don`t want to be giving him any credit, and so for them it has to all be down to Nigel Pearson. It`s ironic really that Pearson always seemed to hate the media and press, and yet they all seem to love him, probably because they knew that at some point Pearson was always going to give them something to write about. It would be wrong and amiss to not give Pearson alot of credit for the job he done, and the squad he assembled, but equally i think it`s wrong to not give any credit to Ranieri at the moment, because in the brief time that he has been here, i think he has been excellent for the football club on and off the field. 13
HesNotGudjonsonn2 Posted 15 August 2015 Posted 15 August 2015 I always have what some people call blind faith in LCFC, I call it a realistic belief in a while team capable of improving one season to the next.

Grewks Posted 15 August 2015 Posted 15 August 2015 Under pearson..we would have folded in the second half today. Ranieri has taken a 'italian' approach in bringing on 3 defensive minded players both today and last week.....and it killed the opposition both times. Ranieri has improved our defensive depth in a single pre-season....pearson couldn't do it in 6 months.
Guest Posted 15 August 2015 Posted 15 August 2015 I have to say that Ranieri's tactical changes during the game really impressed me today. When it went 2-1 and they were doubling up down both wings we moved to a very tight, narrow 4 man defence with Fuchs and Albrighton also acting a wingbacks giving us almost back 6 where required. West ham had run riot down the flanks for the 10-15 minutes preceeding that change but it brought that game back under our control. That was a real top drawer decision and won us the game as West Ham were threatening to equalise and keep pushing at that stage. This team is largely Pearson's. NP was brilliant for the club and I have nothing bad to say about the guy but so long as the tinkerman keeps the tinkering to good tactical changes and doesn't rip the heart out of the team when he has th chance to spend then this could be great season.

ian_marshall Posted 16 August 2015 Posted 16 August 2015 Great tactical changes from Ranieri yesterday. De Laet was having a torrid time as they had clearly singled him out as our weak link at half time and doubled up on him to expose Mahrez's defensive frailties. Personally didn't think the change was too late either, as despite the pressure that West Ham were placing us under we still carried the threat of being able to catch them on the break which would have ended the contest. As soon as they scored Ranieri rang the changes and we consolidated to protect our lead. Yes, to some degree it was dangerous as we invited even more pressure on us but we had many more men behind the ball and what struck me most was the organisation of the team as we kept our shape very well indeed. I also liked it towards the end when it was clear that Vardy was tiring, so he switched Fuchs with Schlupp to maintain some pace up front, and we had Kante bursting out from midfield which still provided a threat as West Ham by the point had switched to a very high defensive line. For me is was a clever tactic as it forced their centre midfielders and centre backs to sit a little deeper, and it gave us an outlet to get in behind the fullbacks who had advanced high up the pitch and run down the clock in the corners. 1
