Simmo86 Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 I'm an idiot so probably I'm mistaken but dont we still need a draw in Montenegro if we beat wales?, so even if Montenegro had won against wales the other night and we beat wales tuesday we would have still needed a draw anyway... If we beat Wales we'll be 6 points ahead of Montenegro with 1 game to play (Montenegro will have 2), with us being 9 goals better off in the G/D stakes already they'll have to give us a good hiding in Montenegro then win in Switzerland to qualify. So not mathematically assured, but more or less
ScouseFox Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 Is it not head-to-head if teams are level in this? In which case we'd need them to slip up somewhere, or for us to beat them at their place.

ScouseFox Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 Don't know, just assumed it was G/D but it may well be head to head Think I heard somewhere it's head-to-head, but not too sure. Either way we'll qualify, I'm pretty sure of that.
Corky Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 I don't think we're shit, I just think Wales might want this more than us. Maybe I'm just a pessimist. We're on the verge of qualifying. I can't see why they'd want it more than us.
BlueSi13 Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 I think the best policy for Wales would be to defend and keep it tight. If it's 0-0 at half time the Wembley crowd will begin to get on England's back and force us into mistakes, Wales then could have a chance at stealing a goal and hanging on for a win that would shatter English confidence in both winning the group and achieving anything at Euro 2012 ,and cause the press to demand Capello's immediate removal. However if Wales go for it hell for leather then we'd just hit them on the counter and run away with it. So for im hoping for an early England goal or for Wales to come out attacking...

Not sure though.
accessory Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 In this tournament, teams level on points are separated by goal difference. Hence a win tomorrow would all but seal England's status as group winners.
Finnegan Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 I don't think we're shit, I just think Wales might want this more than us. Maybe I'm just a pessimist. I anticipate us coming out full of promise and life in the first five or ten minutes, blood and thunder, valleys spirit, all of that. England have a habit of backing off and allowing their opponents to do too much in the early stages at Wembley. But unless Bale has an absolute stormer I don't see us having any penetration to actually cause you much to worry about. Morrison is an absolutely terrible lead to any attack. As soon as you inevitably take the lead we'd crumple and it'll be much like Cardiff, really, with Wales defending relentlessly and offering little going forward. Our new found "confidence" is immensely, immensely fragile.

Alexikokopops Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 Living in Brent has enabled me to get tickets for this for £20, looking forward to it. Not been to the new Wembley yet, which is a little embarrassing given how close it is. Rooney 1st and last goalscorer and to score at any time, easy money. Maybe see you there bossman. My mates got me tickets (he's in England fans, or whatever it is). I'm paying £30 like a chump though.
accessory Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 Capello warns Carroll about lifestyle Sounds like Carroll could be turning into the new Gazza. Not good news for Liverpool fans..
accessory Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 35 million lol How many games has he played since they signed him? Nowhere near as many as he's missed. More to the point, how much longer until his next arrest? But as long as Stevie G's ready to lend him his legal team, he should stay out of jail..
Guest BlueBrett Posted 6 September 2011 Posted 6 September 2011 Wonder if Kingy will make the Wales squad this time?Anything other than a comfortable England win, and the knives will be out again for Capello. Think he's got a reasonable chance with Vaughan unavailable. It'd be great to see what he can do againt England on the tele. I'm thinking Rooney anytime is just giving it away.
Corky Posted 6 September 2011 Posted 6 September 2011 Yes, Wales are a rival and will be up for it, but look at the ranking. If this was another country around that area in the rankings we would be expecting no problems, so I don't see a real reason to suddenly fear not winning. Our qualifying record under Capello is very strong.
@mrtonycox Posted 6 September 2011 Posted 6 September 2011 Don't know if it's just me but I can't bear watching England play.. It's as frustrating as watching Stephen Hawking putting up shelves.. Hope they win but won't be wasting hours of my life watching the crap.
Charl91 Posted 6 September 2011 Posted 6 September 2011 I know we won against Bulgaria, but am I the only one who didn't think we played particularly well? We only ever seem to be able to pass backwards. Best I'v seen England play for ages was our 1 - 1 draw vs. Ghana. Such an amazing game; we actually looked like a quality team (untill Lescott came on and cost us a goal). Most of the time it feels as though we're just scraping through them.
shen Posted 6 September 2011 Posted 6 September 2011 Eriksson on Wales - England and the former's bright future Not sure why he's being interviewed on this. A bit of an odd choice by the Beeb.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 6 September 2011 Posted 6 September 2011 Interesting fact - all languages in the world have a phrase that roughly translates as, "you win some; you lose some"... except Welsh.
cc_star Posted 6 September 2011 Posted 6 September 2011 England scrape by with a flattering 3-1 scoreline
Jimothy Posted 6 September 2011 Posted 6 September 2011 Parker does nothing wrong, has a good game, all this talk of a Lampardless new dawn, and what does Capello do........
RumbleFox Posted 6 September 2011 Posted 6 September 2011 Anyone got a good stream? My TVs knackered!
