Dr The Singh Posted 4 October 2011 Posted 4 October 2011 My spat with Daggers isn't about the merits of that song. I agree with his point but not with the way he expresses it. His intellect and command of language allow him to bully others and he has a particular penchant for attacking those he considers less able than himself. So he deserved a poke in the ribs and he took the bait and then had more and more. As for arguments about poon and religion, what's the point when we have our very own FT expert on those topics. Anyway, that Gandhi was a decent fella wasn't he? I'm not taking the bait Skinnydipper!!! Not today anyway!!
shade Posted 4 October 2011 Posted 4 October 2011 if daggers was that cerebral he wouldn't be posting petty diatribes on an Internet message board. i, on the other hand, am an intellectual collosus. fact.
Bert Posted 4 October 2011 Posted 4 October 2011 Never seen eye to eye with Daggers. But what a great post.... . How true, too.
artursteppe Posted 4 October 2011 Posted 4 October 2011 if daggers was that cerebral he wouldn't be posting petty diatribes on an Internet message board. i, on the other hand, am an intellectual collosus. fact. ...............and I always thought I was the only one here......................
Jimbo Posted 4 October 2011 Posted 4 October 2011 I like cheese. but I prefer ham So there's only one way to settle this! Meet me in L1 for a punch up then we can sing songs about Clough, Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett, maybe throw in a couple about Winehouse, before we go off to meet Daggers for a spot of afternoon tea and some light reading
ozleicester Posted 4 October 2011 Posted 4 October 2011 Its just banter isnt it? ... this verbal wankfest im talking about, not the disgusting chant. Kermo Gandhi was decent!
panky and our gang Posted 4 October 2011 Posted 4 October 2011 Ghandi was decent only when he was wearing something if not he looked like a Dogs chew stick .
accessory Posted 4 October 2011 Posted 4 October 2011 I've not been to a home game in years, but you never get anything like this at Selhurst Park (which I go to regularly) and that's in a shithole part of south London. So Matthew Simmonds has stopped going there then?
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 4 October 2011 Posted 4 October 2011 Come on, don't stray from the main subject. I wanna see the punch up happen. Looking forward to seeing 'em laying each other out. Then we can all go down to the pub to celebrate, a broken jaw, and two broken hands apiece.
mackiepas Posted 4 October 2011 Posted 4 October 2011 We encourage our children to sing 'ringa ringa roses' which is about the black death where hundreds of thousands of people died. Its football deal with it or go home pc brigade. U think that's bad you'd have a breakdown if you were in pen 1 at filbert street

U think that's bad you'd have a breakdown if you were in pen 1 at filbert street When I remember back to pen 1 I cringe at some of the stuff we used to sing, it was funny granted but some of it was outrageous. I remember one second half V Tottenham and it was just 45 minutes of singing about the Holocaust. Back then you just had to man up and take it, people dont do that anymore, they are ashamed by nothing and offended by everything nowadays. I'm a boring old fart in the west stand now but when I think about it its a load of 16/17 year old blokes together, you almost used to be expected to behave like a moron at the football.

U think that's bad you'd have a breakdown if you were in pen 1 at filbert street So if your father dies, or son, wife, brother etc and we all laugh about it and sing songs about it, you'd be ok with it? Fed up with the old "it's football" line. Doesn't give anyone an excuse to openly abuse anyone of their choosing. Next you'll be saying that monkey chants at black players are ok. And I already know what the response to that will be, and yes it has got something to do with it, because we can't keep saying some forms of abuse are acceptable when others aren't. And there is no pen 1 anymore, football has moved on from when violence and offence was expected.
Fox92 Posted 5 October 2011 Posted 5 October 2011 Its football deal with it or go home pc brigade. U think that's bad you'd have a breakdown if you were in pen 1 at filbert street Why is it that, everytime a fair amount of people don't like/don't agree with a song, we are told to go home and not support our football club?
panky and our gang Posted 5 October 2011 Posted 5 October 2011 I would not say go home but live with it , coming on here and moaning like a pre menstrual agony aunt is not going to change a bloody thing . so stop this silly tut tutting shut up and sit down .

Its got nothing to do with shutting up. What do you go to watch Leicester for? I certainly go to support the club and get behind the boys. I'll sing along with football-related songs, not songs about a the dead.
panky and our gang Posted 5 October 2011 Posted 5 October 2011 Me too. But as I said coming on here and moaning about something you can't change seems pretty pointless ?

U think that's bad you'd have a breakdown if you were in pen 1 at filbert street Please tell me you can see the difference between a children's song recounting a significant event in history and personally attacking someone's dead father. Actually, forget I said anything... I don't want any trouble - I forgot you survived Pen 1 and lived to tell the tale! You must be well 'ard mate When I remember back to pen 1 I cringe at some of the stuff we used to sing, it was funny granted but some of it was outrageous. If you think 'manning up' and 'taking it' is the way to deal with the holocaust then there's something very, very wrong with you
panky and our gang Posted 5 October 2011 Posted 5 October 2011 With you on that one Houdini . Mans inhumanity to Man is nothing to laugh about .

We should all bring bananas and chuck em at our black players! Also we should tell fellow asian/black supporters to fcuk off back home. Its okay tho as its only banter and they should expect that at football. Like the man says They should man up. Pc tw@ts!!!!!
Fox92 Posted 5 October 2011 Posted 5 October 2011 Me too. But as I said coming on here and moaning about something you can't change seems pretty pointless ? True, but I think it just needs pointing out because it isn't right and is just sick.

We should also bring back the black and white minstrels, allow repeats of 70's shows where it was fine to call people P***** and N****** etc. People should man up, it's what used to be shown on TV. What a bunch of knuckle dragging **** wits. It's nothing to do with being in the "PC brigade" etc, it's about actually having a moral compass that works so you know what's right or wrong. Things like "Banter" (which as far as I can see just means you verbally abuse people you don't know for your own entertainment), or "it's football" are no excuse. Football crowds and groups like this will push things, most people accept you'll get crude songs etc, but there is still a line that 95% of people who have morals and manners won't cross. Some people get carried away and easily influenced when in a group, been there done that when in the kop as a kid. Unfortunately the growing up part that most people go through seems to have eluded a large number of people.
