smudger63 Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Didn`t he buy Jo for Man City though! Be afraid, be very afraid!! Doesn`t inspire me with much confidence in his ability to spot a player, to be honest.
Benji Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 He says what he thinks he knows. His sources have been letting him down quite a bit lately. Maybe so, but what difference does it make? If people don't believe him, then ignore him.
Spiritwalker Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Hughes or Davies were the obvious choice for me. I just wish I'd put a few quid on.
Bert Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 He says what he thinks he knows. His sources have been letting him down quite a bit lately. Zzzzzz

Mixed record at City where he had a fair whack of dosh, but with all the players that came in it's understandable.
inckley fox Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 No offence, but don't open this Bert bashing can of worms again. He says what he knows, take it or leave it. I apologise for opening a can of worms, I didn't even realise there was a can, let alone worms in it. Maybe I haven't looked through things as thoroughly as I should have. That said, I really suggest you all have a good glance through the guy's past 'insider' reports, the history as I see it is appalling. Occasionally right, but largely because of a sort of scatter gun approach. I knew a chap like that down the local bar who said he was Pontus Kaamark's English tutor, and people worshipped him because he linked us with everyone under the sun and from time to time got it right. I actually got to speak to Pontus Kaamark about five years ago and mentioned this chap and he couldn't remember having met him. As he said himself, 'people like us don't know that sort of thing anyway'. I saw someone on here the other day saying that Muzzy or Muzzy's missus had told him who the next manager would be! On the one hand I feel like saying don't get excited about this, it could just as easily be O'Neill (who we at least know to be first choice) or Clark or whoever else, on the other hand this could well be right, but only because these same people have claimed to have a 'scoop' on every other living football manager who might be interested in the job. If there's worms in the can then I'm quite happy to help clear up the over spill, but, as painful as it may be to accept, this isn't inside info. It's repeatedly claiming inside info until something turns out to be right.

Doesn`t inspire me with much confidence in his ability to spot a player, to be honest. He also signed Kompany, Tevez (who was superb for two seasons). Jo was a mistake but he shouldn't be judged on one signing.
Kitchandro Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Maybe so, but what difference does it make? If people don't believe him, then ignore him. If he can't take criticism when his posts turn out to be wrong, he shouldn't post rumours as if they were inside info. Not that I've even criticised him, it's his source who is bullshitting him (if he does in fact have a source)

How about just discussing whether or not you want Mark Hughes as manager?
Bryn Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 How is this any different to having Sven? I thought the whole point is we were going for a gritty, proven championship manager. We need a firm hand and whilst I admire Hughes I think he's the wrong choice.
Finchy Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 He also signed Kompany, Tevez (who was superb for two seasons). and Barry, Lescott, De Jong and Bellamy (who was awesome that season) I think Hughes made some great signings. Anyway like I said in the other Mark Hughes thread, we don't need signings.

dog_4 Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 said a few weeks ago i'd like to see Mark Hughes in charge! wish i'd put money on it! would probably have made £250,000!

Doesn`t inspire me with much confidence in his ability to spot a player, to be honest. He also got David Bentley for 500k, Ryan Nelson on a free, Stephen Warnock for 1.5M, Santa Cruz for 3.5M, and Samba for 400k. All went on to bigger things and are worth a hell of a lot more now than what he paid for them. Plus don't forget he bought Kompany, SWP, Zabaleta, Shay Given, De Jong, Barry, Adebayor, Lescott and Kolo Toure. All served Man City very well and some are still playing for them even now, when they are a top two side and in the champions league.

Vlad the Fox Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 I mean no disrespect but I've quietly read this site for a while and have only recently posted. I'm reading back over past threads and can't help but thinking that Mr. Bert has become some sort of legend round these parts by saying that everyone under the sun is in talks with Leicester (not only this time round but also in the past, regarding players). Eventually one of this lot is bound to be the manager. I think a few hours ago it was Clark and Keegan, unless I'm grossly mistaken. We can all do that. Curbishley in talks with Leicester as we speak. And Keegan, and Clark, and Hughes, and Freedman, and Di Matteo and Billy Davies. Personally I'd love it to be Jean Tigana or someone equally unlikely, just so no-one whatsoever with (or, if we're truthful, without) inside info can claim to have been correct. It's a bit like the woman who was heralded as a prophet for saying the Titanic would sink, only for it to turn out she'd said the same thing about every ship to sail from Southampton for the past decade. But you could claim that one now. You know something don't you? When did he have talks? Will he accept the job? Jean Tigana's blue and white army.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 I'd be happy with Hughes. Did I just hear that right?! Come here and give me some man love
Finchy Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Can still get 6-1 with StanJames. http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/leicester-specials/next-permanent-manager On that. Edit: You can't bet on Leicester's new manager on Stan James currently.
Bryn Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Well, for starters, he's a completely different person. Unless Sven is a master of disguise. Similar in the sense that his background is top class football, premier league and international. I don't believe the required approach is at all similar.
FrankieADZ Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 wouldnt mind....thought he did a good job with wales, blackburn n Man City. and he has a pretty good eye for talented players too...with him getting Nelson and Samba at Blackburn. as always tho...we'll have to wait n see.
FosseFox Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 I know statistics aren't everything, but... Hughes' overall managerial win % is only 41.09%, 46% at Moneybags MCFC. Sven's overall is 51.71%, with 43% win rate at LCFC. He's not exactly got a Championship pedigree, not has he done too well with a club with relative top wealth in the division. I lot a lot of respect for him when he left Fulham for the Villa job that didn't arrive. He also defended Tevez and continues to have a go at Mancini.
Spudulike Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Can still get 6-1 with StanJames. http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/leicester-specials/next-permanent-manager Blimey, looks like some money going on Strachan....up to 3rd favourite. Worrying
Bert Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 If he can't take criticism when his posts turn out to be wrong, he shouldn't post rumours as if they were inside info. Not that I've even criticised him, it's his source who is bullshitting him (if he does in fact have a source) I'll happily take criticism, doesn't bother me one bit. The Hughes news was never mine, I was just relaying it and I even said that. Who was the first person to reveal Naughton would be signing? Errr, me. What about the Dyer signing? Adams? Morrison? How many people on here know half the stuff that's gone on at the club in the past few years that's not been mentioned? I could reel off many things, but I've kept a secret because I've said I would. All I ever do is say what I have been told. Maybe sometimes they say things because the club don't like things getting out. I've no reason to doubt what they tell me, so I say it. If people feel they've got to abuse me over an Internet forum or a networking site, then that's their problem and I feel quite sorry for them.
