Little Nicky Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Clearly identify we need wingers? I seem to remember him playing Matt Oakley on the right wing for large periods! Hmmm, not for me I'd like to try and get OGS in, Pearson was great, but don't go back!
21st Century Fox Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 He wouldn't waste the money like Sven did in the transfer market would clearly identify we need wingers and a Mark Davies type midfielder. So much conjecture!!!
Captain... Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 I dunno mate, that 5-1 drubbing against Forest was pretty inept. Pearson always knew how to stop a slump though, that was Sven's problem, he struggled. I remember around March/April time in both 2009 and 2010 we had a minor rough patch under Pearson and it looked like we were going to blow it but then he somehow got us scraping a win and the monkey was off our backs and then we marched on towards the League title in '09 and then 5th place in 2010 with 6 straight wins. True about Forest, but they were a good team on a good run at the time and we just caught them on a good day for them and a bad day for us, Ipswich were a terrible team playing badly and we let them walk all over us.
foxfanazer Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 I'm all for Pearson, get us back to basics instead of just putting "big names"? On the team sheet with no guidance or tactics
Callabinho Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Nigel Pearson knows this club inside out, he knows what our goals are, he knows what the fans expect. I think we have a big place in his heart and I will be the first to hold the door open upon his arrival.
MrSpaM Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 I picture him walking into an plush restaurant, sitting at a table with Top, just as Top is about to open his mouth, Nige says "Why don't you appoint Paulo Sousa" and promptly walks out.
FrankieADZ Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 I'll be happy either way, just want someone who has the club at heart If Nigel comes back I'll get behind him no matter what..like any ones else wearing the City shirt.
Head Honcho Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Yes. Best option !!! Did anybody else hear the rumour of him resigning this evening?? Think this rumour went through the stadium quicker than a dodgy vindaloo.
Ricey Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 When Pearson was here before, he did not play defensive football. He focussed on building a strong and organised defensive, that was his priority and he achieved it. That doesn't mean the football he played was negative, it wasn't hoof-ball (albeit maybe when we are chasing a game). I actually remember us playing some nice stuff and scoring some great goals. The last year, we have ripped some teams to shreds (Derby, Millwall, Burnley etc) which is all well and good, but when you are also losing to Bristol City and Millwall at home then it isn't much fun. I find it baffling that anyone could be unhappy with Pearson returning. If you are only interested in nice football then go support Arsenal, I'm interested in winning games and supporting a team that gives their all every game.
Filbert_Ross Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Id be pretty underwhelmed if we get Pearson back, but we could do a lot worse. (Keane)
foxes2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Pearson wont resign and give up a job which has no pressure, if he comes here he will have imediate pressure on the job at hull he could finish 15th and still keep the job but if hull agree a fee with leicester then it might happen but i cant see him resigning, i think it will fall through and we will end up with someone like Dave Jones by the way i think the Keane haters should remember how he turned sunderland around

cc_star Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 It's a no for me. He is just Micky Adams without the annoying speaking in the third person trait. Yes he got us out of division 1 but he benefitted from a vastly superior budget to other sides in that division. In the Championship he's dull. His reputation for excellent signings is grossly undeserved Chris Weale - terrible Robbie Neilson - terrible Ryan McGivern - terrible Hobbs - extremely limited Morrison - league 1 is his limit (see Pompey away where he was directly responsible for FIVE of their goals) Dyer - League 1 player N'Guessan - terrible Adams - out of his depth He's further blotted his copybook by signing Fryatt for Hull. He's had his time, lets move on. I don't agree with all of your ratings although a few are obviously right, but for arguments sake lets say you're 100% right. Despite all these 'shit' playerd Pearson was never out of the top 10 & we got in the playoffs, Sven barely got in the top 10 & never even looked like getting in the playoffs despite a transfer & wage budget that dwarfs most premier league clubs. Funny what a good manager can do that can organise, enthuse players & knows that despite some individual talent the team comes first.

I'm off to support Arsenal - clearly wanting to support the team i have for 40 years but also wanting them to play good football are mutually exclusive and anyone that wants that isn't welcome. If you support Leicester you must accept dire football apparently ... Ironic given the team i saw and fell in love with in the 70's played some of the most expansive and attacking football of it's era. When exactly did it become the case that we couldn't want to support a Leicester side that lays good football? See you at the Emirates!?
Leicester Lass Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Matt Mills will improve no end under Pearson.
Babylon Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 but also wanting them to play good football are mutually exclusive and anyone that wants that isn't welcome. Everyone WANTS us to play lovely football, most people just don't EXPECT to see pretty football. The way people talk you'd think we were akin to John Beck's Cambridge in the early 90's under Pearson. We were nothing of the sort.
foxes2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 i just want it done and dusted so we can move on, if hes not going to leave he should say so now so we can get someone else

I find it amazing how stupid some of our fans are. A simple question is, are we further away from achieving promotion than we were when we had Pearson as manager? The answer is yes. It was a mistake by Milan to force Pearson out. Well done to the owners if they decide to correct what has turned out be a big mistake. As others have mentioned, Pearson is wise with his money and has a good eye for talent. As far as I can see his only failing when at us was Gradel, that was it. Other than that, he was superb and is one of the best young English managers in the game.

Indeed not - none of our players possessed the quality of Dublin or Claridge from that side...
Captain... Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 I feel a bit sick thinking of this, but just imagine where we could be if Pearson hadn't left us for Hull, we had never appointed Sousa and the Thai's had appointed Sven as DOF to help improve our image and spend all of their lovely money. I wish that thought had never popped into my had, but I could see them working very well together and what Pearson lacked in media handling and contacts and the ability to attract players we would have Sven. Pearson would motivate the team on the pitch while Sven would bring in the players that we need. Chrissy P also stays on as coach. Oh what could have been...
foxes2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 ive got no doubt sven knows alot about football just wounder why he struggled at this level, maybe he was too used to the international sceen.
dannythefox Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 Matt Mills will improve no end under Pearson. I think he could be the man to get the team working together and the players old/new will start to shine. Wonder if Fryatt will be back.
markbsac Posted 7 November 2011 Posted 7 November 2011 i dont want him back.....we should be moving forwards not back
