Houdini Logic Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 King won't put a foot in? What games do you go? I could count the amount of times King has gone for a 50/50 ball on one hand to be fair. Not as bad as Gallagher/Dyer, but far too scared for a centre mid
Head Honcho Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 Swansea fan in peace here... Cotterill is a very decent player at Championship level. He was brought in under Sousa when our short was threadbare and he did pretty well under him, we played a much slower, less technical game back then. Last season he was pretty good under Brendan too, at the start of thee season especially. BR played him more central and it brought the best out his passing, I think it's where he's best tbh. Strengths: Passing, not bad set pieces, rocket of a shot, decent amount of pace. Weaknesses: Consistency, workrate, strength, dribbling (for a winger). He'll feel at home here anyway!
Ric Flair Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 Would rather have that little cretin Jason Puncheon, but Cotterill on a free might be sound business. I've noticed that Pearson didn't really go abroad for any players at Hull, I wonder if Walsh is still scouring Europe for talent like he did with Tunchev and Big Yann first time around?
Lesta Legend Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 Weaknesses: Consistency, workrate, strength, dribbling (for a winger). With strengths sounds like a carbon copy of Gallagher; a wide player who is stronger central and is inconsistent Saying that it's a free Edit: note to self read other posts first

Tielemans63 Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 Good idea to take him on trial rather than just throwing a contract his way. If there's one thing you can gurantee with Nige it's that he'll be level-headed - I don't think he'll take a risk on Cotterill if he doesn't show enough to prove he wants to turn his career around.
NeilyBoy Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 Fun fact: David Cotterill has supplied more goals against Derby (1 goal, 3 assists / 4 appearances) than against any other team. Omen.
Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 King won't put a foot in? What games do you go? go to near enough every game acctually and ive never seen King get stuck in. Fair enough hes been much better defensivley under Pearson but he still never goes into 50/50's and just diley daley's sticking a leg out.
Callabinho Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 He has pace which we need, I think he is the kind of player that Pearson will get the best out of! A good move if we can seal it!
LcFc_Smiv Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 If he did come in he could be a good signing, after all Pearson seems to get the best out of an average player!!
flowwolf Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 If Swansea don't rate him why the fvck should we ? is that what we have come down to Swansea rejects , Lord help us.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 If Swansea don't rate him why the fvck should we ? is that what we have come down to Swansea rejects , Lord help us. The same Swansea that are riding high up in the Prem?
Number 6 Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 If Swansea don't rate him why the fvck should we ? Because Swansea are considerably better than us?
eddylcfc Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 No thankyou, we have enough very average players in our squad. We dont need another one!
marbelladave Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 If we are ever going to drag ourselves into the modern era, we need flexible, attacking midfield players with pace who can score and make goals from open play, Cotterill may not be Premiership quality but he could be very useful at our level if he puts the effort in. That said, under NFP we play 4-4-fooking-2 and the long ball, he won't get a look in even if he gets a start. Of course I could be wrong, NFP might actually change his style and get us playing proper football........
Bob Farley Posted 12 January 2012 Posted 12 January 2012 The same Swansea that are riding high up in the Prem? Haha that's what i was thinking
Fox1651 Posted 13 January 2012 Posted 13 January 2012 If Swansea don't rate him why the fvck should we ? is that what we have come down to Swansea rejects , Lord help us. This
Boro fox Posted 13 January 2012 Posted 13 January 2012 If Swansea don't rate him why the fvck should we ? is that what we have come down to Swansea rejects , Lord help us. Just like Leeds didn't rate kasper?
Leicester_Loyal Posted 13 January 2012 Posted 13 January 2012 Just like Leeds didn't rate kasper? Welcome to the forum. Glad some sensible people are on here, stick around.
FrankieADZ Posted 13 January 2012 Posted 13 January 2012 If Swansea don't rate him why the fvck should we ? is that what we have come down to Swansea rejects , Lord help us. Hmmm....its all swings and roundabout....if I remember correct Wenger didnt rate Yaya Toure & look how thats gone Brendan Rogers said he's got "Talent" but with Sinclair, Dyer etc in front of him at Swansea you can see why he hasnt got a game.
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 13 January 2012 Posted 13 January 2012 Surely if this guy is a winger, that is can go past people and deliver worthwhile balls into the box/players and can preform at the level we are at then what's the problem, if better are on offer great if not then I can not see him make the midfield any worse ?
Sylvie85 Posted 13 January 2012 Posted 13 January 2012 Granted i've only seen him in a handful of games, but in those games i've seen more than enough to convince me that he's better than we have currently. I'm aware it will be underwhelming for those supporters thinking we are going to be signing premier league quality players but i think it would be well worth it. As someone previously said if we do get our top targets eg Stewart and Kebe, then he will be capable of filling the void if needed. I'd rather see this lad out on the wing rather than forcing one of our centre mids out there.
goose2010 Posted 13 January 2012 Posted 13 January 2012 Fair play to NP taking a look at him why wouldn't you? on a free he is a winger and is proven at this level. Probably better than what we have regards to wingers all ready and cant anyone actually name a winger that gets stuck in and wins loads in the air! Ar the end of the day he is behind the likes of sinclair, routledge and dyer at swansea fair play to the lad for trying to find first team football.

Before they threw their toys out about Pearson, a lot of Hull fans said the teams type of football was changing. They said they started out functional, but as time went on he got more of his own players in the football turned in to a much more passing game.
