Beckford facing the boot.

The whole thing seems to mirror the England international set up.

Sven goes, accused of being too soft on the players.

Pearson/Capello arrives, charged with instilling discipline.

Pearson/Capello gets slated for trying to do exactly that.

Make up your mind.. Either you wanted someone in to give these players the proverbial kick up the arris, or you didn't.

I do.. My trust is in Pearson not in Mills or Beckford.

you left out the next line?...Team plays worse and gets worse results

These kind of stories are like catnip to the media, one sniff and they all go into a speculation frenzy, scratching away at it, sharpening their claws, but they will have been fed nothing from NP, as we all know he is tight lipped with the media, so all of this can be ignored until Saturday when we will more likely than not find Beckford in the team, he has been through some rough spells but always seems to land on his feet.

If Beckford has used up all of his 9 lives and is dropped on Saturday, then I would still put it that the papers got lucky rather than actually have any inside info on the situation. We still don't know anything about what went on with Mills and there is clearly a bigger story there than a player and manager clash about football.

Edit: Editted due to accidental racism apologies if anyone saw that

It alright people saying get rid but he is a 20goal a season striker and there not easy to come bye BUT if your on thousands a week you should do as your boss asks if it was me I would fine him 2wks wages and leave it at that!

Bet if he does leave he will end up scoring for fun for the next club

Give Sclupp the starts & persist just like NP did through Beckford lean spell & he could be a revelation.

After seeing how Schlupp looked on Saturday I really don't think he's the answer.

Would rather a player who gives 100 % every game like a billy sharpe than another prima donner any day of the week ... get rid and good riddance! i thnk we will regret it if we build a team around him in the summer .. he clearly is immature and temperemental .... there is too much riding on him

Have been a big Pearson Fan and still am, but is getting rid of our best players the only way to change things ? On Saturday both Beckford and Nugent answered back to Pearson but nobody seems to have seen Nugent doing it - or would prefer not to mention it.

When Beckford and Nugent have played together in the middle they have looked a class pairing.

It does make you wonder if he has been told to cut the wage bill.

Would be a wrong decisison to get rid of Beckford if you ask me. I think Pearson can't handle big players egos for example Gradel, Campbell. Also St Ledger and Mills have had 'spats' with Pearson, one minute it looks like they were out the door the next they were staying. Beckford is one of those players who needs to be loved to get the best out of him, just look at his time at Leeds. Should we get rid of him he will go to another club and bang in goals for fun just you watch.

Well then by that you are compromising the manager NP, I think we have to accept as much as I don't want to that these decisions will made. Clearly NP doesn't like players not agreeing with him, it has cost Mills almost St Ledger and Beckford looks a gonner to me unless he apologizes and works his ass off.

Pearson boots Beckford because he refused an order in one game? Obviously more to it. If Pearson can get back most of what we paid for Beckford then it will make sense as Beckford just hasnt got going here. I can see him scoring for fun for someone else at this level though.

What are you basing this on?

Or is it just that he doesn't want want players with big egos?

7? League goals in over 30 appearances..

He's gonna have to go some to reach twenty this season.. In the league anyway

Ridiculous how this has developed

We all kinda what happened during the freekick near the final whistle, NP wasn't happy at the time & said he'll handle the matter behind closed doors

We've discussed it in the other Beckford threads, especially the one created specifically for that issue

Now that it's been discussed... a newspaper picks it up, adding nothing new, but kicks off the whole debate again & then another newspaper picks it up... More people then join in the discussion purely because the source this time appears to be a newspaper

I'm yet to see anything we didn't discuss originally in this forum or from NPs post-match comments, which were mainly about the team as a whole as he rarely if ever discusses individuals

Sad thing is muppets don't see this they just get upset about NP not handling big personalities despite no one knowing how true or not that is, all we know is people who can't handle the team selection and throw a strop, perhaps violently are on their way out & quite right too, at least the one person who matters (NP) knows that it's the team that is important to the club.

This... Good post as usual star

As a midtable championship team can we really aspire to get a better striker than Jermaine Beckford? I think not.

If Pearson genuinely feels that Beckford is not part of his plans then fair enough, but he has been playing him in most of the games (although to be fair for a lot of those games we've only been able to pick from Nugent, Beckford, Howard and Hopper) which suggests to me that he does value him as a player.

I think the appropriate reaction is an "in-house" discipline/talk and a reconcillation of sorts. Pearson needs to underline what he expects from his players and Beckford needs to explain why he wouldn't follow "orders".

Pearson needs to tread carefully here. As does Beckford.

I honestly don't think we can attract a striker to the club that would be better than Beckford (that's not to say that we couldn't sign a good player that blossom's for us) and I think if Pearson drives him out on principle, where a clear up is very possible, then that would be madness.
