Rocky Dennis Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 Nothing more than a big time Charlie who thinks he is far too good to play for LCFC, irrespective of this article (which appears to me to be nothing more than a cobbled together story designed to fill column inches) I would Imagine Beckford's agent will be touting him around in the summer anyway, a promoted club or a mid-lower Prem team will take him, or perhaps one of the relegated clubs. He is not an LCFC/Pearson type player and I would think this regardless of how many goals he has scored
lcfc_amie Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 I reckon the papers have put 2 and 2 together and came up with 5 here. They've used quotes from Pearson's interview with Stringer on Sat - about NP dealing with the situation internally (which probably just means having a chat with Beckford, or maybe a fine). They've then seen that Pearson has allegedly had previous encounters with other players (SSL, Mills), and have come to the conclusion that he's had a bust up with JB. In my opinion all of this has been blown out of proportion, and the papers have now picked in up and made a story out of it. We'll see what's really happened on Saturday - if JB gets in the team/squad. I think he will be. Mountain and molehill come to mind here.
ScouseFox Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 It's all well and good us wanting rid, but who's going to have him? If he's on 35/40k like some people seem to think is fact, not many teams in the country would be willing to pay that for anyone, let alone Beckford. If he's on £40,000-a-week, genuinely, I doubt anyone outside the top 7 or so teams in the Prem would think about touching those wages for an unproven, seemingly temperamental, moody and not actually good enough to play in the Premier League striker. Just a thought.
dannythefox Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 Whatever happens it will be interesting to see if anyone will come in to replace him or who we can attract! Don't forget at this moment in time were only a average championship team!
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 How oh how this forum can change so quickly. Only a few weeks ago I was ripped to shreds for trying to even suggest that Jermaine Beckford had numerous weaknesses to his game. I still think he's a decent finisher when he gets into the right positions, so agree with people on this. But he ain't a player to build a team around in my opinion. He's not good enough for that. But now....... The 'sea change' on here is incredible and does make me do a little wee sometimes when I read some of the posts. Either through incredulity or a prostrate problem? Maybe both... lol
cc_star Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 Why do people always say "league goals"? Is it because if they mention all the goals in the season, then they realise that he has a similar rate to nugent, and that it makes their argument look stupid? Why is it that if JB doesn't score then he's "lazy" (untrue - as mentioned before, he ran all the way back to defend") and a "prima-donna" (Based on nothing much....), yet while JB has had a bad few games, He was bought to score 20 goals a season to help fire us to promotion & to sell shirts in Thai duty free shops, the former would help with the latter - He's flopped, he does some good stuff & has some good games, nothing to write home about and his goal return is weak-to-abysmal, don't see how people can defend the indefensible, it's not like he has the redeeming feature of creating 20 goals for someone else, because a) he's not the sort of player to hold the ball up to bring the midfield into the game b) barring a couple of touches to Nugent - he's created fvck all. He is however our player and is much improved since the first half of the season & deserves our support to improve even further... but wanking off over him because he once did a nice flick, or he once pulled their defender out of position for Nuge to score is ridiculous... Despite improvement he's still some way off the player we bought, but that's all the more reason to support him more, as long as we're not blind to the facts. Why was he covering at the back? We needed bodies in the box, it was very late in the game and our chance of snatching a draw... who cares if we lost 2-0 rather than 1-0... when we had the chance of drawing 1-1
berniethebolt Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 Beckford is of the same mould as the Yakubu and it's easy to take their laid back attitude as lack of effort (and yes perhaps it is sometimes), but when it counts the goals are there! I can think of countless strikers we have had who run around like idiots and their contribution is often just hot air and we worship them for it. We need to get through this miserable phase the clubs in and focus on next year. He could quite easily be a 20 goal striker next year.

Alan Young and those chappies at the Mirror haven't got to where they are in the media doing silly things like that....
Lambert09 Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 Pearson could be using Svens signings as scapegoats..... he is probably thinking his job is on the line and if he can stir something up and make it look like its Svens signings that were the problem the Thais will give him another chance. ......................Or maybe that is just genuinely the problem
lcfc matt Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 I can't wait to see who his replacement will be if he goes.like people keep saying who is actually going to want to play for us I can't see many wanting to come to be honest I think beckford is the best we will get.espically after the season we have had I have a feeling we will lose several players and will struggle to attract fresh faces
yorkie1999 Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 And all this because Alan Young decided to do an impression of the hindenburg crashing! "Oh the humanity, Beckford No No Thats just wrong"

Most of the criticism aimed at JB is all conjecture, where people have formed an opinion because he doesn't look to be showing "passion". People were bumming JB when he went through his scoring patch, but a few rough games and the fickle fans come out of the wood-work again. Yes, he sucked at the start, but his scoring rate has been fine since 2012. He's also one of the only players we have that is good enough to get us promoted. People are just determined to hate him, just like they were with the Yak last season. Leicester fans can be infuriatingly stupid and so very fickle. I really hope he does leave and scores for fun somewhere else. I'l agree that his control is poor. The rest is bollocks. Well I agree with this. His record in all games is the same as Nugents and other than people saying "he dunt look like he's trying" or "He dunt care about Lestoh" I have seen no evidence that he is either lazy or uninterested. He may well be and he may be a c0ck and he may be all of the things you accuse him of but then again God may just exist. The problem is there is no evidence for either it's just conjecture and heresay. Until the moment when he leave or he says "I hate Leicester City and I am a lazy cvnt" he will have my support. Up the Foxes! X

Only a few weeks ago I was ripped to shreds for trying to even suggest that Jermaine Beckford had numerous weaknesses to his game. No, no, no, no.... you were ripped for going way over the top in numerous threads, as you did about Sven last year. When you get a bee in your bonnet you don't know when to stop sometimes. Most people (including myself) agree with much of what you said about him.
Babylon Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 Warnock has been quoted today saying he expects to make his first signing in May... Maybe JB will be returning? Or one of the other 20'000 footballers out there.

The players have done a good job of making themselves "scapegoats" all year, under Sven and Pearson.
Raw Dykes Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 Why do people always say "league goals"? Is it because if they mention all the goals in the season, then they realise that he has a similar rate to nugent, and that it makes their argument look stupid? The reason is because that's all that matters. We don't need to win a cup. Even if we'd have won both the FA cup and the League cup, we wouldn't be any closer to the PL. His job is to score goals in the league, he gets paid a king's ransom to do it and he's not done it enough. Yes, he sucked at the start, but his scoring rate has been fine since 2012. He's also one of the only players we have that is good enough to get us promoted. People are just determined to hate him, just like they were with the Yak last season. Leicester fans can be infuriatingly stupid and so very fickle. He has improved a lot, I agree, and I hope to see him continue improving. It's just that, far too often, he reverts back to type. He'll put in a very good performance one match, and then the next he's a passenger and gets subbed at half time. This is the most annoying thing about him - we know he can be a very good player for us, but only when it suits him, which is only half the time. I really hope he does leave and scores for fun somewhere else. Who cares? What he does when he leaves makes no difference to what we should do based on what we've seen so far. This is the same as what people said about DJ Campbell when he was scoring for fun on loan at Blackpool. People said we should get him back to do that here, forgetting that when he was here, he was worse than useless. I'l agree that his control is poor. The rest is bollocks. Bollocks, is it? Okay, I shouldn't have said he never challenges for the ball in the air, but it's still not often enough, and I stand by the rest. Far too often, Kasper kicks the ball to the other end of the pitch, or we play a hopeful long ball out of frustration, only for it to come straight back. Why? We need a striker who can hold the ball up. In the last two matches, he's tried to shoot from near the corner flag when Dyer was well placed to shoot, and he tried going for glory himself when Marshall had a much easier chance and only the keeper to beat. Not bollocks, but the truth. Plus, he would rather not score if it means bumping into something or someone. If he stays, then I'll expect to see him play well a lot more often. If we get rid, it won't be a mistake - we can do a lot better.
Ashley Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 Well then by that you are compromising the manager NP, I think we have to accept as much as I don't want to that these decisions will made. Clearly NP doesn't like players not agreeing with him, it has cost Mills almost St Ledger and Beckford looks a gonner to me unless he apologizes and works his ass off. Well maybe I am. I really do hope Beckford does apologise it would be the wrong decision to let him go. Who realistically could we get to replace him? The man scores and will continue to score goals. Or is it just that he doesn't want want players with big egos? Every club has its player(s) with 'big egos' I think this might be down to Pearson doesn't know how to manager a player with a 'big ego'? He has done some great things with the lesser known players though. It may come down to Beckford leaving and we replace him with someone else at the end of the day I just want the team that I support to be successful once again
blueharmie Posted 4 April 2012 Posted 4 April 2012 Beckford does not give a shit never has. On top of that he doesn't score enough goals. Good bye.

Any passionate player could be excused for disagreeing with Pearson constantly from the evidence I've seen so far because some of the things he does are barely defensible. Some are so bad that perhaps Pearson's the one who should be apologising ... for making pointless and disruptive last minute substitutions, playing striker Nugent on the wing and having Morgan surging forward on misguided attacking sprees when he struggles enough to defend effectively at times...and that's just for starters. Bosses need to earn respect, the same as players, and the best way they can do that is by providing solutions rather than problems in the quest to win football matches... whatever staff they have at their disposal.

Spot on, and that seems to be the problem, except in NP's case that doesn't work both ways it is either my way or the highway. Not saying that approach is bad but then it does make you question that this causes alienation in the squad and would for me cause disharmony and not everyone pulling in the same direction. If we get rid of Beckford it would be distasteful decision.
