Leicester City 4-0 Doncaster Post-Match Thread

not surprised gallagher has the hump with the fans after seeing some posts on here. He may have his off days but most of the time he's a solid player for us, we shouldn't be trying to get rid of him when theres certain others that aren't nearly as good or as happy to play for us.

Donny were the worst side to visit us this season by a long way in my opinion, so let's not get carried away with a 4-0 win. As others have said they had a few chances and the scoreline could have been so different. We really were nothing special, and for the first 20 mins of the first half I thought it was going to be another 0-0 draw. But as the saying goes, you can only beat what's in front of you, which we did, but forget any talk of play offs. Marshall looks quality though

decent performance, solid all round but kinda worrying that we still let them have a few chances tbf.

We certainly took our goals well but they are a poor outfit...Donny looked better last season imo.

Still onwards and hopefully upwards :)

If Doncaster had someone to finish off the pile of chances they created it would have been a very close match.

According to beeb

14 shots to 7 in our favour

8 on target to 0 again in our favour

We scored 4 of the 8 on target... and if we're talking about 'ifs' then we had more 'ifs' than them anyway

Just as a comparison last week's defeat against Posh we had 23 shots with 11 on target and score precisely none of them, whilst Posh scored with one of their very few chances.

Cracking performance would have given Barcelona a good game on today's form and I honestly believe that

Really? We would have been looking at a 5-0 defeat at least. I really hope you're trolling.

As for the game, we were average I would say. Doncaster were poor. Still, you can only beat the team in front of you, so I'm happy about the result, though only the fact that they missed some sitters made our defense look better then it was.

Probably going to be the most boring 4-0 win I'll ever see in my life (Which I admit sounds daft). We were lucky they couldn't finish any of their chances, we only won 4-0 because their heads went down. If they'd scored it would have been a much closer game. We still look poor when teams counter attack us in 4-4-2, guess we just have to hope we score more than they do.

Thought Beckford looked good, didn't score but chased everything and was unlucky on 2 occasions.

What are you on? Another Beckford hater... Beckford was one of the best players out there today

no where near best player , gives the ball away and doesnt hold it well . schlupp for me monday at ipswich . dont hate beckford , he just needs to do better .

people are really over reacting to this performance we were made to look better than we were! yes we played well but donny could have easily scored three in the first half and play offs? No chance!!

A lot of people seem to be saying that despite the result we were very average/borderline poor. Gonna assume this is a joke.

I have no clue about the permutations, but for those who are keeping track of might happen I think you can only base it off the average points required to hit 6th.

Average points !!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have to beat the team who otherwise would finish 6th. Look at the points and the remaining games of the teams above us.

4-0 flattered us, for periods of the first half Doncaster had plenty of the ball and chances to score, which thankfully they didn't take.

We started well and threatened several times in the first 5 minutes, but after that we gave the ball away too cheaply and with better finishing they could've made it a different game.

The second goal was crucial. Schoolboy keeping would be an insult to schoolboys, it was that bad, and we managed to control the game after it, with Marshall adding another to his impressive collection so far (and deserving of a second curled effort which hit the woodwork).

It's always good to win, but the result does mask the performance. It wasn't anything to get carried away with.

Thought we were awful for large parts of the game. Started off very well in the first 15 minutes, then Donny missed an array of easy chances. Defensive mix-ups and Giles Barnes tearing Peltier a new one at times. However, Drinkwater took his goal well and I think Peltier's goal just made them lose interest. They were absolutely appalling after that and were made to look amateurish as we actually played very well for the last 20 minutes or so. They really looked like they couldn't be bothered. They're a team full of poor players and big names that don't seem interested (Diouf, Chimbonda, Ilunga, Piquionne and Beye).

Atmosphere was an absolute embarrassment.

Still, as much as I've moaned, I'm still pleased we've won 4-0. Impressive result but not an impressive performance, by a long shot.

Couple of good goals, shocking atmosphere.

The first time ever I've actually wanted to leave a football match early, don't know why, just wasn't really interested in today.

It was a bizarre one today. Despite the scoreline the players seemed to be just going through the motions and it was quiet in the stands too. It had the feeling of a friendly match. Perhaps it's just acceptance that the season is over for us.

Today was one of those dead rubber games, it felt exactly like it was the last game of the season, no atmosphere whatsoever, very depressing in terms of the atmosphere and crowd, despite the scoreline.

Why do Leicester toy with our emotions so much? In reach of the play-offs yet again? Oh dear I've done it, got my hopes yet again. Do I now go Ipswich?

To be fair, I watched Beye play a few times for Villa, and he was one of the worst players I'v ever seen.
