Simo86 Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 Worst- the list is endless! No one has mentioned Luigi Glombard yet though Best- Most have been said but Arphexad wasn't a bad no.2 for us!
Saxondale Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 Lilian Nalis anyone? I think the obvious choices are Kaamark, Keller, Zagorakis etc. Worst? Too many to mention.
cc_star Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 Best: If Muzzy is not allowed then Kamaark Worst: Bednar if loans are allowed, if not then probably somebody Scottish Levein signed or Crcnic... damn it.... Kermogrant for what his arrogance cost us
shen Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 So the criteria is that it has to be foreign players signed from non-English clubs? I.e. Schmeichel, Sinclair, Gunnlaugsson, Keller, Bednar are all ineligible. I'd probably agree with Kåmark of all the names proposed. In recent times, I'd give Kisnorbo, Gudjonsson and Berner (both unattached at the time) a shout. Laursen is definitely the worst. I remember being ever so embarrassed to have such a crap countryman represent my favourite club On a sidenote, the best signing from abroad we've ever made has to be Tony Cottee though!
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 Remember Nils- Eric Johansson? He was decent. For me though got to be Arner Gunalugsson (Sorry about spelling.) Super sub.
The Blur Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 There is an article from 4-4-2 this month on the top 50 football league players as well a mini feature on the best player at each club. No Leicester City players made the list but Nugent was picked as the best player for Leicester City. The top three was Whittingham,Lallana and Lambert. I was suprised that Nugent and Schmeichel wasn't on the list at all yet likes of Bryson from Derby is on it. Thoughts?
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 Pontus Kaamark by a street or a road or an avenue or a boulevard or a drive or a strasse . . . . . . . . .
brockmyster Posted 12 April 2012 Posted 12 April 2012 Surely we've had worse than sylla I mean apart from there debuts Laczko and Bori just looked like 2 blokes picked off the street
teblin Posted 12 April 2012 Posted 12 April 2012 Pontus kamaark is the best. Izzet is a Londoner who happened to have a Turkish dad so don't reckon he counts. Worst hellings, kiebi, Jacob laursen, kalac
Oxfordfox83 Posted 12 April 2012 Posted 12 April 2012 LOVED Arnie-always looked like he was loving each game and came up with some magic moments. Was a kid when we signed Kalac which made the disappointment worse, and in strict terms I think he was the least able footballer to wear the shirt (aside from me in my Muzzy kit on Vicky Park...)
OzFox Posted 21 July 2012 Posted 21 July 2012 Kalac seems to pop up in a lot of these "worst ever signing" threads. Just came across a bit of trivia on Wiki: In 1981 Sydney Croatia Football Club moved from the city to the United Sports Centre in Edensor Park. The main stand is known as the Boka stand. In the Boka stand is the Senator's Club, for lifetime members of the club. Inside the Senator's Club is the Kalac Bar, in recognition of Željko Kalac's transfer to Leicester City in the English Premier League (which helped pay for the Boka stand). So we got three games out of Kalac, and Sydney Utd got a chunk of their main stand. I think they might have got the best deal
Leicester_Numan Posted 21 July 2012 Posted 21 July 2012 No one has mentioned Rab Douglas yet. Every bit as bad as Kalac & Ricardo
ithuriel Posted 21 July 2012 Posted 21 July 2012 Corica was excellent for us until his injury but then we did sell him to Wolves for just over a million, they would not take Kalac though Kamaark was also injured after a handful of games that season and was also a top class player. We really did have some nice players for that topsy turvy promotion season where O'niell replaced McGhee. Joachim Heskey Corica Roberts Robins Claridge Parker Lennon Taylor Izzet Kamaark Walsh Grayson and Whitlow both looked good from this season on and Poole was solid in goal. Funny really but in my mind our worst and best foreign players both joined us and appeared in this season, Kalac really was a bit of a stumblebum oops dropped another. If you can get to see the goals conceded to Bolton somewhere online, watch Garry Parkers reaction after the third went in to lose it 2-3 he just turns away in disgust.
MPH Posted 21 July 2012 Posted 21 July 2012 Best: Muzzy, Kamaark, Keller, Zagorakis. Bamba the best? Vitor was better than Bamba and he was 21 and didn't speak English. Muzzy? Born in England spent all his career in England and could hardly speak a word of Turkish.... And i remember watching Zagorakis play and he really was very very average when he played for us...

OzFox Posted 21 July 2012 Posted 21 July 2012 In Poland for the euros I met the guy who sold us Kalac, was quite a random meeting. You can say that again. Was he an agent or someone from Sydney Utd? I think Kalac went straight back there when he left leicester and the Wolves deal fell through. He would have been around to help build that stand
Guest Col city fan Posted 21 July 2012 Posted 21 July 2012 Kaamark by a country mile (which is apparently longer than your normal ones.) There's a lot worse than Momo Sylla though - at least he was good enough to get regular runs in the team unlike Kaebi and Crcnic. Kaamark was a quality player. He hardly ever lost the ball or misplaced a pass.
lcfc278 Posted 21 July 2012 Posted 21 July 2012 It's funny to remember that kalac went on to AC Milan for 4 years and zsolt laczko now plays for sampdoria! Crazy
ADK Posted 21 July 2012 Posted 21 July 2012 Would have to be riccardo for me, simply because only knowing he had played internationally for Portugal, i thought he would be good. But he was actually worse than Weale.
Bayfox Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 in terms of worst there is a big long list who we cant really comment on as they never played but sergio hellings would be close to the top of any list. as for best pontus for the job he did on one of my fave playeys on those 2 games. shame he missed so much football. peggy for the penalty shootout exploits. i'll forgive the hungarian lads for the cov game alone. and theo was average for us. won a euros after mind. and fcuk even kalac played for milan but those 2 games!!!
