stourbridgefox Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 I am a total plastic when it comes to England. I don't even think of myself supporting England unless there is a major tournament. If they do well, I jump on the bandwagon but it is a long time since I have really cared one way or the other about England. Probably Euro 96 to be exact. (which was great!) With Leicester, I check for news several times a day. The club is never far from my thoughts. In fact, as I write this, it occurs to me I am a little obsessed with Leicester City! Through thick and thin I am Leicester. If they are winning...then I'm a bit England.
AyewJoking Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 Any self respecting adult knows not to give a fúck about England friendlies and if you get your hopes up for a major tournament then shame on you. Anyway, supporting England or at least hoping they do well isnt really a choice if you are born in England and like football or is that considered an old fashioned thing to say?
bmt Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 Both. Maybe club comes a little bit before country. Would love to see us lift the world cup in my lifetime though.
davelcfc100 Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 as it stands club by a million miles, if harry would have been the england manager then I'd of cared a little more but tbh i dont
Saxondale Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 Club by a million miles. I'd rather Leicester get promoted than England win every Euro championship and World Cup for the rest of eternity. England are just a nice distraction for close season every other summer.
Captain... Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 I was thinking about this over a ham salad sandwhich, and whilst I would put club before country, I would prefer to see England win the World Cup than Leicester win the Prem. Just think back to what it was like when we won the rugby World Cup or when we won the Ashes in 2005, the whole country was buzzing and you could really rub it in the Aussies faces. Maybe it is because I have been living in spain and had to suffer the constant jibes about our footballing ability, I would love to be able to throw it back at them and win the Euros this Summer. I can't see it happening though.
1964FOX Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 Country for the next two months then club after that but seriously both. It always amazes me how both give the same emotions, great expectation and not much back in reality. At least vwe are used to it as Leicester fans. The Premiership Sky Sports season ticket holders must be so disappointed when thier national team don't win.
Jace Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 If England won the World Cup everyone here would be happy if Leicester won the Premiership I reckon I would be beaten up shortly after
Criggers Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 It should be country in my opinion, but seeing as none of the players or managers give a shite about Internationals why should the fans? Let's be honest, 50 years ago a lot of players would have given their right arm (except the keeper) to wear an England shirt and get the cap, now you have the likes of Ferguson and Wenger moaning about injuries and sueing the FA, players pulling a sicky so they don't have to report for international duty isn't unheard of either. The money in the club game has ruined the international one. I still support both. I love my country, I'm English and proud of it (sometimes). However, I am Leicester till I die.
Raw Dykes Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 Club by a million miles. I'd rather Leicester get promoted than England win every Euro championship and World Cup for the rest of eternity. England are just a nice distraction for close season every other summer. Exactly. The club really matters to me, but I'm really not that bothered about the England team. It would be great to see England do well and win something, but if they don't, I couldn't care less, really. I mean, seeing Leicester lose in the playoffs or even lose a match by a last minute goal really gets to me, and I'll be really fed up, but seeing England get knocked out in the quarter-finals makes me a bit disappointed for a minute, then I'm alright again. I just don't really feel a part of it as much with international football, whereas the club really means something to me. I just know England will get knocked out in the quarter-finals, or if we're lucky, the semi-finals. Probably on penalties. I suppose Greece won it 8 years ago, I think Hodgson could be a good England manager, and it's not out of the question for us to win it, but I still don't think we will.
Haydos Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 Club. I support England, I always will. But there just isn't that personal connection there is with Leicester. I haven't formed any attachment, England national football team is just....there.
Out Foxed Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 It used to be Country, but I've grown sick of the dissapointment from underachieving players who don't seem to give a shit. same, after that shambolic performance in 2010. it's club all the way for me.
m00nie Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 I started a discussion on twitter with my mates last night, the majority of them are 'arm chair' fans who support top premier teams and not many have ever seen their teams ground. I asked them if they would rather their club be more succesful or their country. I opted for club, only just, just wondering what other people think?? I think the true fans will say club. i was going to say country just to say "fk You" to that remark as i think its bollox. but im going with BOTH.. i love my club AND i love my country and so want both them to do well. whilst i may see my club play more dont mean i think any less of my country, and just because we dont do well im not going to turn my back on them, there are games we have said the leicester players havent really put the effort in yet we are still there game in game out backing them so why should we be any different for our country.. players are professional and to play (for free) for their country is a high achievement so i dont buy this "they dont care" either..
Daggers Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 They still do International matches? How quaint. There again, I do enjoy a really good laugh every time England fùck up.

Never thought I would say this but well said m00nie brilliant post
Corky Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 Club for me. I attend Leicester matches regularly, which brings a connection to the club. I've been to one England match, don't feel the same towards England that I do with Leicester.
wellyfox Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 So none of the club fans will be jumping up and down n getting pissed if we win the euro's and pissed off if we go out. Leicester England born Leicester England bred Leicester England PROUD Am not British or Racist.
cc_star Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 I've been to one England match, the last one was a 4-1 defeat Vs Denmark at Old Trafford back in 2005 I like watching England in competitive games, get thoroughly drunk & jump about if they win, but if they lose I don't give a shit... bunch of overpaid tw@ts who rarely give a shit themselves. Typical of the modern game I'm afraid, difficult to find any attachment to a bunch of millionaire prima-donnas
Daggers Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 So none of the club fans will be jumping up and down n getting pissed if we win the euro's and pissed off if we go out. Why would I? I plan on laughing my tits off at another abject failure and the list of tired, old excuses. I do admire your optimism though if you seriously think England have the remotest of chances of winning the tournament this summer. Either that or I can recommend some excellent medication.

Leicester England born Leicester England bred Leicester England PROUD Am not British or Racist. Sorry to burst your bubble but you are British, English is a subset of British, so by virtue of being English, you are British, thinking otherwise doesn't make you racist, just ignorant and a bit of a tit.
Nick Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 I can see it now - Players in dressing room revolt decide to dismiss the FA's political appointment and have told him to go and do something useful with his time and bugger off to be the ambassador of new FA sponsored training camps. Roy pictured in eastern European airport head in hands. Players are so desperate for a role model they turn to John Terry. Beckham wheeled out of GB Olympic Team to motivate Euro England squad for the rest of the tournament. FA turn to Sven offering one million quid for 5 weeks work.
Weller in Tights Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 I have followed England abroad and really enjoyed it (France 98, England 2 v Colombia 0 and Euro 2000 England 1 v Germany 0) and I managed to get tickets to see them beat Holland 4-1 at wembley in Euro 96. So I have been a lucky charm to a certain extent. I would trade all that in to see Leicester win the FA Cup, I'm realistic, the Premier League is way out of our reach, but the FA Cup, why not? and it still a widely watched game across the world, despite that prat on radio 5 Alan Green, always playing it down. Yes I would love to see England win the Euros or the world cup and I fully intend to spend my retirement lump sum on following England for an entire tournament. HOWEVER, DEFINATELY CLUB FIRST
