glenny_fox Posted 21 June 2012 Posted 21 June 2012 Why do we sell our players cheap all the time. 2million is crap Fryatt even went for a million when we don't want him and hes on mahoosiv wages.. we aren't going to get top money for him. I'd be quite happy with 2 million
Legend_in_blue Posted 21 June 2012 Posted 21 June 2012 2 million is good considering their fan boards have only generated three responses about Keith Andrews in a "Matt Mills " headed topic Clearly they don't know what's coming to them so I say cut and run at 2 million. Good business. Their fans are delusional as they are going to storm the league with Mills as their figurehead. Good luck to them.

We was saying the exact same thing last year, with Readings fans laughing at us...

Except it is us selling so he probably will be a great success for them.
GianEmmo Zola Posted 21 June 2012 Posted 21 June 2012 Mills was only made a scapegoat because of his price tag if he came in on a free he would have been a revelation. Oh well. Lost a good player. But onwards and upwards. ! De laet and ssl will be a sound cb partnership.
Guest Col city fan Posted 21 June 2012 Posted 21 June 2012 Mills was only made a scapegoat because of his price tag if he came in on a free he would have been a revelation. Oh well. Lost a good player. But onwards and upwards. ! De laet and ssl will be a sound cb partnership. Hmmm SSL is average at best. DeLaet.... Do you know anything much about him? I'm sorry if I sound negative, but that centre back pairing doesn't sound like a title winning one to me. I'd rather we had a tougher, more experienced centre back in the side. Anyway, Morgan will start IMO.
Jimmy Posted 21 June 2012 Posted 21 June 2012 De Laet is a bloody right back ffs, he said so himself in his interview when he signed
GianEmmo Zola Posted 21 June 2012 Posted 21 June 2012 Cb / rb. So you want an experienced cb like hmm matt mills?? Everyone has an opinion though !! But we all want the same thing!
Out Foxed Posted 21 June 2012 Posted 21 June 2012 Mills was only made a scapegoat because of his price tag if he came in on a free he would have been a revelation. he didn't so what you've said. is completely pointless. ifs don't mean shit if he had actually played well and not been an absolute cock he would have been a revelation. see...anyone can do it.
Simo86 Posted 21 June 2012 Posted 21 June 2012 De Laet is a bloody fright back ffs, he said so himself in his interview when he signed Is this a new position Jimmy?
Frost Posted 21 June 2012 Posted 21 June 2012 My Norwich supporting mate said De Laet's loan was terminated last season because he was so poor. Whether its true or not I don't know. Alarming if true.
Simo86 Posted 21 June 2012 Posted 21 June 2012 My Norwich supporting mate said De Laet's loan was terminated last season because he was so poor. Whether its true or not I don't know. Alarming if true. I thought he got injured and they sent him back so they could acquire another loanee?

Fair point. No arguments. Just saying his pricetag ruined him before he even got going. How do peeps no he was being a cock? I was under the impression if he played 1 more game he was to have a wage rise and extension ala the salgado situation at blackburn. Not sure though
Jimmy Posted 21 June 2012 Posted 21 June 2012 Cb / rb. So you want an experienced cb like hmm matt mills?? Everyone has an opinion though !! But we all want the same thing! no he's a right back thats adapable enough to play CB or LB if needed Is this a new position Jimmy? typo, I usually catch them, oh well
Darkon84 Posted 21 June 2012 Posted 21 June 2012 I thought he got injured and they sent him back so they could acquire another loanee? This
kingfox Posted 21 June 2012 Posted 21 June 2012 My Norwich supporting mate said De Laet's loan was terminated last season because he was so poor. Whether its true or not I don't know. Alarming if true. Correct this. De Laet isn't that good, and I wouldn't expect fireworks from him in a Leicester shirt. I expect to see some poor performances and maybe an own goal or two from him next season. Of the three signings made so far, he is the one I have the least confidence in, never rated him tbh.

He left Norwich when he was injured last season, not because he was 'so poor.' He started the majority of games for them until he was injured. As for people saying he's a right back, he can play anywhere across the back 4. He's said so himself, so i'm fairly certain he is aware of where he plays more than the people claiming he plays here or there. He played left back for United reserves for years, then played right back for Portsmouth against us the season before last. And i'm certain he was playing as a centre half for Norwich as they had Naughton/Martin at right back.

If you look at the line ups last season, he started then got dropped to the bench because of poor performances. I know for a fact he didn't do too well at Norwich, most of there fans will probably say that themselves to be fair. Yes he can play anywhere across the back four, maybe the reason he did poorly at Norwich is because he wasn't played in his preffered position. He has always played centre-back and left-back for every team he has played in, apart from Portsmouth where he started at right-back for the whole season. He gives us probably our best option across the back four, because he can play in all the positions, but I wouldn't start him because he isn't good enough from past performances I have seen in the lad, I have little confidence in him unlike Vardy and James.

So how does that work?
dog_4 Posted 21 June 2012 Posted 21 June 2012 they'll keep alot of clean sheets with mills and knight in defence. and Mark Davies in midfield! Impressive line up
Legend_in_blue Posted 21 June 2012 Posted 21 June 2012 From the Bolton forum: "Mills will be a good signing!" :w00t: "Mrs Mills would be a good signing, given our problems.......................and if the youngsters don't understand, ask yer grandad" "Not seen anything of Mills but I'd heard good things when he was transferred to Leicester. Has he been a bit shit there or something? It seems a bit of a strange move to let him go on loan to what could be a promotion rival?" Perhaps they're slowly catching on...?
hornyhollthefox123 Posted 21 June 2012 Posted 21 June 2012 Reading these posts gives me a warm glow Precisely. At least this Mills fiasco appears to have come to a conclusion now and we can make some headway in terms of looking to bring one or two in and focus on the players who are staying now. Also think De Laet will prove people wrong and turn out to be a good signing. Has experience at this level and all the attributes to be a good player for us next season. Besides, look how wrong people's judgements were last summer with Mills. Let's hope this has quite the opposite effect.
