Guest Bilo Posted 29 May 2012 Posted 29 May 2012 An international football tournament followed by the Olympics, that would be enough for most people! I am genuinely more excited about the Olympics than the Euros. A plethora of British competitors who are genuinely world class and competing in their own back yard, what's not to like?
purpleronnie Posted 29 May 2012 Posted 29 May 2012 Everyone with half a brain thinks we'll lose to France. At least I have one half..

carlhltid Posted 29 May 2012 Author Posted 29 May 2012 normally get excited before the euros for england but i aint this time cant seeing us winning it in any way what so ever ime afraid

A plethora of British competitors who are genuinely world class and competing in their own back yard, what's not to like? I'm very much for them, we have some top athletes who stand a fantastic chance of not only taking gold but setting new world records and will do us proud, expect there to be a real feel good factor around the country. However the closer the Olympics have got the less I've seen Jess Ennis around the EIS in Sheffield, genuinely devastated!
LcFc_Smiv Posted 29 May 2012 Posted 29 May 2012 normally get excited before the euros for england but i aint this time cant seeing us winning it in any way what so ever ime afraid Still enjoyable to watch the other teams competing, I've learnt that by being English you must accept to appreciate enjoying football that the other teams play haha!
BlueSi13 Posted 29 May 2012 Posted 29 May 2012 My prediction for our group games is: England 1-2 France England 1-1 Sweden England 1-1 Ukraine Think we'll finish third in the group and obviously go out. If we make it through the group with the squad we have it should be seen as a huge achievement in my opinion. Also, has anybody seen the Germany squad? Its looking crazy strong. They are my tip for this tournament.
Corky Posted 30 May 2012 Posted 30 May 2012 normally get excited before the euros for england but i aint this time cant seeing us winning it in any way what so ever ime afraid Don't understand this mentality. Leicester were never going to win the FA Cup this season yet I, and many others, enjoyed that and were excited to be in it. I'm actually looking forward to it more because of the lack of hype around the England team. No over-the-top nonsense, just sensible, realistic comments.

A plethora of British competitors who are genuinely world class and competing in their own back yard, what's not to like? Most of the events are what I don't like. 100m, 200m, relay & football will be all that I care for. The rest may aswell not happen in my eyes. Good job the world isn't saw through my eyes...
whoareyaaa Posted 30 May 2012 Posted 30 May 2012 One thing is for sure, its the first time we have had a world class goalie for years and years and could be pivotal to our succcess. hes a BEAST!
21st Century Fox Posted 30 May 2012 Posted 30 May 2012 Lampard sustains thigh injury, Henderson on stand by.
Guest ttfn Posted 30 May 2012 Posted 30 May 2012 Lampard sustains thigh injury, Henderson on stand by. Lampard's a huge miss in my book, although I'm not convinced Roy was going to play him.
kingfox Posted 30 May 2012 Posted 30 May 2012 With Carroll probably starting up front I doubt we will win a game. Wouldn't be surprised to see our top goalscorer being a centre back, probably Cahill if he starts with 2-3 goals from set pieces.
Ozwin Posted 30 May 2012 Posted 30 May 2012 I actually think we're going to surprise a few people and I'm the biggest England downer in the world when I want to be. The lack of expectation, the fact nobody thinks Hodgson is any good, the fact we have some young hungry players playing in their first tournament who might suprise a few people (Cahill, Young, Carroll, The Ox, Welbeck, Butland). I'm quite optimistic and it's a weird feeling because I haven't had this for years. Going to be interesting either way.
ScouseFox Posted 30 May 2012 Posted 30 May 2012 I think we'll qualify from the group. Probably second unless France piss up somewhere. If we finish second, we play the winner of Spain's group, which will probably be Spain. If we play Spain, we'll probably be out. Although we did beat them in that friendly. And Chelsea beat Barcelona. Fúck it we're gonna win this. C'mon England.

Guest ttfn Posted 30 May 2012 Posted 30 May 2012 Guardian are reporting that Lampard is virtually certain to miss out. It's a sad state of affairs that Henderson's anywhere near the squad but when you consider that Wilshere, Carrick, Scholes, Barry and Lampard are all unavailable it's unsurprising that we're desperate. Still, as much as I don't rate the lad as highly as many, surely Cleverley should have been ahead of him in the pecking order.
Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 30 May 2012 Posted 30 May 2012 Personally don't see us getting out the groups. France & Sweden will be tough without Rooney. If Ukraine is a must win game we will probably bottle it like usual.
AyewJoking Posted 31 May 2012 Posted 31 May 2012 I think we will take 4 points from our 3 group games. Qualify in second and crash out against Spain..........on penalties.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 31 May 2012 Posted 31 May 2012 Annoyingly, I'm starting to get the bug for this tournament. I'd love us to f**k France over after what they did to us in 2004. I almost feels like I do for Leicester in a cup. You know you're most likely not going to win but you hope that you can play with pride, get at the opposition, turn a few heads and maybe even surprise a few people. That said, I only jump on the England bandwagon for the major tournaments and I'd much rather see Leicester win some silverware / promotion.
