Tom17LCFC Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 There seems to be quite an attitude of "There's less expectation this time... So we should do well!" the fact that there's no expectation, means that... there is in fact loads of expectation!
Webbo Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 I can see us boring our way to the semi's. I'd take that.
Bugg Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 i know this is a bit off topic, but Alan Hansen voted his 4 teams to make the semi finals as Spain, Holland, Germany and Portugal lol
The Doctor Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 Holland, Germany & Portugal are in the same group aren't they?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 Holland, Germany & Portugal are in the same group aren't they? I think that's the joke?....
I am Rod Hull Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 i know this is a bit off topic, but Alan Hansen voted his 4 teams to make the semi finals as Spain, Holland, Germany and Portugal lol I`m not surprised that the quality of his work as fallen, the BBC have just slashed his wages from £1.5m a year to a miserly £1m.
ScouseFox Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 Lineker said on Twitter it was a misquote to make Hansen look like a disabled. Apparently the question was "who are the four strongest teams in the tournament?" and he answered those four. Then someone somewhere's assumed by "4 strongest teams" he means semi finalists.

That said, he has turned into a senile old fool in recent years. He's gone from by far the best pundit on TV to a serial whinger who goes way over the top about his favourite teams.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 6 June 2012 Posted 6 June 2012 I defy anyone to listen to 'Three Lions' and not believe that we have a chance!
AyewJoking Posted 7 June 2012 Posted 7 June 2012 Get through the group and the confidence in the players and fans will be MASSIVE. You dont have to be the best team to win it.
foxfanazer Posted 7 June 2012 Posted 7 June 2012 I defy anyone to listen to 'Three Lions' and not believe that we have a chance! Ok for that 3 mins I will believe, then I'll see that Andy Carroll is starting up front and snap back to reality
Corky Posted 7 June 2012 Posted 7 June 2012 I defy anyone to listen to 'Three Lions' and not believe that we have a chance! Fat Les is where it's at.
Daggers Posted 7 June 2012 Posted 7 June 2012 I thought England stood no chance. With today's news I'm trying to work out how I would quantify less than no chance.
purpleronnie Posted 7 June 2012 Posted 7 June 2012 I hope I'm wrong but I think france will win the group, sweden and ourselves joint 2nd but sweden to go through on goal difference.
Ozwin Posted 7 June 2012 Posted 7 June 2012 We are going to ****ing smash it boys. Watch that and tell me you disagree.
RowlattsFox Posted 7 June 2012 Posted 7 June 2012 Think we will beat France, causing the whole nation to think we're the best again before losing to Sweden and Ukraine.
whoareyaaa Posted 7 June 2012 Posted 7 June 2012 I think we will be very tight at the back and can't see us conceding more than 1 goal in the group stage and we have players who can score so who knows. I think for the group games we will win 1-0 1-0 1-0 then it will depend who we face after that.
Kitchandro Posted 7 June 2012 Posted 7 June 2012 I defy anyone to listen to 'Three Lions' and not believe that we have a chance! Yeh but, all those oh so nears where you down through the years.
Danno Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 I'd probably saw Rep of Ireland have a better strike force than us at the moment!
ozleicester Posted 8 June 2012 Posted 8 June 2012 They, are FRENCH!!... We, are ENGLISH!.... this means we will beat them.
BlueSi13 Posted 10 June 2012 Posted 10 June 2012 Another interesting fact i read is that this will arguably be England's lowest attended European tournament in terms of travelling support. Only 6,000 are expected to be in Ukraine whereas we had over 70,000 in Portugal 8 years ago.
Matt Posted 10 June 2012 Posted 10 June 2012 Roy Hodgson challenges the players to show their premier league form What? 8th place?
Tielemans63 Posted 10 June 2012 Posted 10 June 2012 My prediction for the group: England 0 - France 1 England 1 - Sweden 1 England 1 - Ukraine 0 Whether that's enough to see us through I don't know. I think we'll struggle for goals.
Kitchandro Posted 10 June 2012 Posted 10 June 2012 Are we seriously STARTING with Stewart Downing? I mean it's bad enough we're taking him but I thought we'd at least have the sense to pick Walcott or Oxlade-Chamberlain, or play 4-4-2 with one of those 2 and Young. It's just fvcking retarded.

Would only use Walcott as an impact sub against France would have Milner on the right AOC on the left. Need to offer cover for the fullbacks as France are a very potent threat
