Rooney was not fit at the end of the season. When he had that break against the Ukrainians and they caught up with him, you could tell that, yet again, it was not his tournament. That said, 2 is unfair. Milner and Welbeck did everything asked of them and I think that 5 is quite unfair.

kingfox Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 Hart 8 - Great goalkeeper Johnson 5 - Woeful didn't deserve to be on the plane Terry 8 - Rock as per usual Lescott 8 - Rock as per usual Cole 8 - Good yet again but ends in heartbreak Milner -1 - Absolutely effin shite Gerrard 7 - Decent in parts, but people have overrated his performances Parker 7 - Could of done better Young -2 - Worst player of the tournament for England Welbeck 6 - Half frustrating, half decent Rooney 4 - Might aswell of stayed at home Carroll 3 - Like a running frankenstein, slow and shite Oxlade 5 - Few little postive bursts Walcott 7 - That game changer against Sweden deserves a decent mark Henderson -1 - What was the pissing point of him?
Guest ttfn Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 Thought Henderson did ok when played. Young awful, Rooney disappointing, Milner functional. Lescott was the star man for me.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 My player of the tournament for us goes to JT, can't stand the bloke but he give his all for England and would be my first name on the team sheet every time.

BlueSi13 Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 Best player award goes to either Ashley Cole (always performs for England) or Steven Gerrard (though a bad game tonight) for me. Really struggling to think of who i'd give the wooden spoon to though....Young, Milner or Rooney....
Mark_w Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 Milner -1 - Absolutely effin shite Young -2 - Worst player of the tournament for England Henderson -1 - What was the pissing point of him? You never cease to amaze me.
ADK Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 Hart 7 - Solid for the most part, no heroics though. Johnson 8 - Best i've seen him in an England shirt, had my doubts but he did very well making some important clearances. Lescott 8 - Solid in defence, scored a goal too. Terry 9 - Best player for me, was very dependable and justified his selection. Cole 8 - Dependable and got forward when possible. Milner 6 - Lacked quality and looked tired, good on occasion Gerrard 7 - Provided 3 assists but struggled in open play Parker 6 - Alot of huff and puff but lacked quality. Young 5 - Looked lightweight and ineffective. Wellbeck 5 - Scored a good goal but didn't affect most of the games. Rooney 2 - Made the team worse, looked unfit. Carrol 8 - Looked very effective when played, scored a good goal too. Walcott 7 - Turned the Sweden game around with a goal and an assist, didn't see enough of the ball in other matches though. Oxlaide-Chamberlain - 7 Looked powerful and confident on the ball, didn't get much game time.
Donut Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 Chris Waddle had it about right on the radio. England are dreadful in every way in a technical sense. Completely unable to get hold of the ball, pass the ball, and dictate the tempo of a game as major nations do to us. If we cant keep the ball and control a game against the Swedes and Ukrainians, then come the quarter final/semi final typical teams we have no chance. We churn out absolute crap players like Walcott who can do nothing other than run quickly. No passing ability,no end product, just head down and run . Before Sweden he was living off his hattrick against Croatia for years. Look at Parker. We laud him. He was appauling all tournament. He never made a forward pass, gave the ball away a million times, looked completely unfit, so overrated it is unbelieveable. Look at players in Parkers position, Xabi Alonso, Pirlo, look at the way they dictate play compared to overrated Parker. Lescott tonight............for gods sake man put your arm down and defend instead of expecting the linesman to defend for you. him and Glenn Johsnon were absolutely ridiculous. Glenn Johsnon is an absolute abortion of a player. And now we are pinning our hopes on Oxlade Chaimberlain and Jack Wilshere. Give me a ****ing break Awful, awful squad No complaints whatsoever about the result tonight.
kingfox Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 You never cease to amaze me. Never give minus, when I am doing Leicester players in our player ratings. But Milner, Young, Henderson pointless and poor. None of them did anything good in the tournament so they deserve a minus, some of these players ain't fit enough to wear an England shirt. Roy was bias and picked Liverpool players who didn't deserve to be in the squad, Johnson, Henderson, Downing, Carroll and Kelly were just pointless and undeserved selections.

kingfox Posted 24 June 2012 Posted 24 June 2012 Doesn't matter, I missed the (-). Still very harsh. Maybe but I am not even frustrated, that match was absolutely terrible. Typical England again, 1 shot on target in 120 mins is awful absolutely flaming awful. Roy was bias and picked Liverpool players, just to get Liverpool fans back on side. Carroll - Undeserved, did nothing for Liverpool, fans were laughing at him for the majority of last season Henderson - Did nothing spectacular for Liverpool, Carrick would of been a better option Johnson - Richards all the way and all England fans would agree, apart from the ones who support Liverpool Kelly - The likes of Danny Simpson were better than him this season Downing - Laughable selection, Adam Johnson has offered more in an England shirt and should of been picked Not harsh, it's a reality that these players didn't deserve to be picked and that they were basically shite throughout the whole tournament, the ones that played of course.

To suggest Roy cares what Liverpool fans think is laughable. Carroll- good choice, did well last few weeks of the season and was unfortunate to be dropped after Sweden. Henderson- we were down to the bare bones, he was willing to go on standby, Carrick wasnt. Id rather have a player that is happy to be back up than someone who isnt Johnson - Played RB for qualifying so was the natural choice. He should be dropped now as we build for the future. Like Carrick, Richards refused to go on standby. Kelly - it didnt really matter in the end but I cant understand it either Downing - Would have preferred Johnson but Downing had more game time throughout the season

Henderson isn't good enough for England, it was just a pointless selection. Richards should of been picked in the first place, and had a good damn reason for not wanting to be on standby, as Roy for some bizarre reason left him out Downing yep didn't get a game but he is a joke aswell, another player who did nothing last season, Adam Johnson far better option to have as back up, even someone like Victor Moses would of been a better option than Downing. Hodgson's selections were a joke, and it is strange he picked so many Liverpool players after the rubbish season they had.

Ox-C - 7 Roy Hodgson - 7 For Tonight Hart - 6 Johnson - 4 Terry - 6 Lescott - 5 Cole - 5 Parker - 4 Gerrard - 6 Young - 4 Milner - 4 Rooney - 2 Welbeck - 4 Walcott - 4 Henderson - ? Carroll - 6 Roy Hodgson - 3 Set up way too defensively tonight, all we seemed to do was wait until they lost the ball, give it straight back and counter every 20mins We saw the Italians didnt have much infront of goal in their group games, so we set up defensively and let their world class midfield run the show ? Sorry, but tonights tactics were awful, no entertainment and no chance of winning from open play Rooney should be dropped from the squad, we play better without him and put in a performance to rival the one he put out against Algeria 2 years ago Touch and Technique were way off, and only showed what he could do twice. DROP HIM Dont know who to place most of the blame on for Young, he shouldve been dropped after the Sweden game, but we prevailed and he failed The only positives we can take from this Tournament are that we have a few decent youths coming through, and we have a manager who can instil abit of togetherness, and hopefully direction :fc: As England, I don't think we should believe all the ' Lucky to get out of the group ' talk, we genuinely have alot of players who cut it week in week out, in continental competition and against top quality players at home, we should have better; Not the World, but at least something to be proud of Pizzed Off immensely, seems like the Football Gods are unleashing pain over everything I love in this last couple of years
