Raw Dykes Posted 6 August 2012 Posted 6 August 2012 People getting frustrated over negative comments about Wellens, because people were slagging him off due to performances, but fans who did that are only voicing correct opinions on him, as his form did get a lot worse last season. Same with Cardiff fans and Gerrard, when they talk about his incidents and that he isn't as good as people make out, then you claim they are frustrated because he celebrated an oppositions goal, everyone thought Reading fans were frustrated because they sold their "best player" to us and we were laughing back in their faces, but they were just telling the truth. Fans can talk a lot of sense sometimes, it's up to you if you want to believe them or not, but you obviously don't. You're right - as it turned out, the Reading fans were right about Mills, but the point is, this time last year, we wouldn't have been justified in taking their word for it, for the simple fact that Mills hadn't played for us yet. At that point in time, he still could have turned out to be a good player for us, and for all we knew then, the Reading fans could have been slagging him off because they were bitter about losing a good player. This is where I think you're going wrong. I think you should wait to see the player in action for his new club with your own eyes before deciding how you rate him. Imagine how we'd have replied if Blackpool fans asked us about Holloway or Campbell. We would have been right in slagging them off based on their time here, but at the same time, as it turned out, they wouldn't have been right to take that as gospel, would they?

You also can't really judge his personality unless you've, well, at least met him once surely? I used to think from his time at Leeds that Jermain Beckford was a real ego and not a great player to have around behind the scenes (I don't really know why I got that impression), but to be fair to him I haven't seen any evidence of that here. My point is that you can't take anything at face value because fans and the media will have there own little agendas, the Cardiff fans I imagine were a little over emotional in response to the fallout from the cup final, plus now add to that the fact that they know he's leaving and I think it's fair to say those two things will have changed their opinions somewhat. I'd be more inclined to feel skeptical like you if you had some evidence of Hull fans talking of a poor personality or of Cardiff fans doing so before the cup final. Spot on, look at what some of the knob heeds on here say about kermit as he missed one penalty and ask Charlton fans and they'll give you a totally different view; and after this season many fans will change their minds on Kermit. Also Beckford is a very popular player behind the scenes from what I've heard and seen. This whole ego thing doesn't add up and np seems to have a good rapport with him and np doesn't tolerate egos.

Buggsteam Posted 6 August 2012 Posted 6 August 2012 I work with a Cardiff fan, He's View on Gerrard is that he is a very good centre back who reads the game well. All tho he is glad he is leaving after he went out after the cup game and said that peed off most cardiff fans at which he got abuse for. My opion on that is, a player can do what he wants off the pitch as long as he's not breaking the law or bringing the club into disrepute and is fit to train and play. He was Hulls POTY for reason and just because he had and avarage season at Cardiff doesn't mean he's a crap player. I don't think he will settle in coming here to be forth choice. He will try and go for the starting 11 which is good for competition. Pearson obviously knows him and how he plays so I trust his judgement. As you say KingFox, you've read on the net all these bad things about him etc so your judging him on that and what kind of person he is with out seeing him play or know him. Well after reading this forum which is also on the net I could judge you with all your negative comments about our new signings, how ever I don't know you. You could be a really nice lad so I won't pass judgment. So give them and the team a chance. If after 10-15 games they are crap I will gladly read your slagging off.
