Anthony Gerrard Cardiff to Leicester

No I don't who are they?

Dyer, Gallagher, Wellens, King. Waghorn. I wouldn't have signed Morgan but we're stuck with him as captain and I'm not convinced about Konchesky.

Of course it may have been NP who has switched targets rather than Gerrard turning us down. I wonder if he is tempted to go for Ayala if he is available...

Not sure he would be interested if he thinks he may not be first choice, and can we afford another CB who has injury problems?

getting morgan for a mill was a steal. put someone solid in with him who has a bit of pace and we'd have a really strong cb pairing.

Do some of you not consider that there was actually never once a story that we'd had a bid accepted for him? And just an "un-named Championship club"?

Well, Huddersfield's the club, clearly, and not us.

He's not snubbed us, we simply hadn't had a bid accepted.

As for an alternative, I can see Ayala happening, and would I be right in saying he'd be our first ever Spaniard?

So easy but remember Dan this is Foxestalk... :/

If ZW does not get any game time tonight and with AG now not coming as cover, the CB problem is starting to look serious. The young lads that I have seen are not good enough at the moment, and LM is a much better RB than cover at CB.

Gerrard off to Huddersfield so that will make king fox happy...I for 1 thought that this would have been a very decent signing but obviously Pearson looking elsewhere.

Who are we playing tonight m8?

I don't think there's any need to panic. The management know the situation better than we do, and I expect they will be looking to bring another defender in. Until they do, De Laet (with Moore at right back) or James can cover at centre half.

Define serious. We have at least 7 players who can play at cb so how is it serious?

lol To be fair it was easy to think that a bid had been accepted but I did have a little feeling it would be someone totally out of the blue and everyone would then forget that the "un-named club" was never confirmed as Leicester.

And now it's confirmed it definitely isn't.

I do find it a little concerning that we've not seen a single thing from Whitbread yet if he really is meant to be one of our first choice centre halves.

But I'm not worried, the management will have a trick up their sleeve. Can remember three years ago when we only had two forwards and they signed Waghorn on loan and he pretty much single handedly turned that Swansea game around. lol

Who do peeps think will be playing as the centre back pairing against Sunderland?

Morgan and Whitbread... considering they're numbers 5 and 6 and Morgan is captain. Even if we do get another CB in, he would most likely play in the second half.

Is the latter fit to play though?

Any one else not concerned about the lack of pitch time james has had? If he was a back up plan at centreback we would have seen him play there in pre-season if he doesn't play there tonight he won't do all season

It'll be Whitbread and Morgan. I don't see why people are getting all worked up because this centre back pairing hasn't played together against, or been tested by, the footballing giants of Hinckley Town and Burton Albion.

I guarentee Whitbread will be undergoing serious training to get back to full fitness and he'll most likley play against Sunderland and Torquay (may as well be another friendly as far as we're concerned) to get that match sharpess for the opener against Peterborough. If he's not ready for that match, I expect we'll see Morgan and Moore at the back for the first couple of games, which doesn't bother me either - Moore looks a good prospect and everyone has been clamouring for him to get a chance this season, now one has been presented to him everyone seems to be saying we should buy another centre back immediately?

What would be the point in bringing in a brand new player anyway? At least Morgan, Moore and Whitbread will have been training together, playing training matches, practising set pieces and marking etc. Why would it be better to bring in a new player who doesn't know any of his centre back partners at all?

Moore isn't a CB he is a back up RB if Whitbread isn't fit, I would partner Da Laet and Morgan, that is unless we don't get another CB.

I would personally agree with Gallagher and King. Dyer can be used as an impact sub due to his pace and ability to sometimes beat defenders, and although I don't rate Waghorn that much, he is still learning and was previously a decent player for us under Nigel Pearson.

Morgan was a great signing for £1million. Very good centre half at this level. And I'm also not conviced about Konchesky.

I'm pleased Gerrard hasn't signed, and although we haven't got many senior centre halfs; De Laet, James and Taft could easily slot in while Moore is avalibale to cover right full back.
