Babylon Posted 6 August 2012 Posted 6 August 2012 He won't be 4th choice. No, he'll probably be 3rd above SSL.
Tielemans63 Posted 6 August 2012 Posted 6 August 2012 Can anyone confirm whether this has happened? Yep, your post has definitely been posted.
lcfcsnow Posted 6 August 2012 Posted 6 August 2012 No, he'll probably be 3rd above SSL. Joint 2nd the amount of games Whitbread will end up playing.
Fox42 Posted 6 August 2012 Posted 6 August 2012 He'll be 3rd for now. We need him as back up since SSL is injured and we have an injury prone as our second choice and we really have no back up ATM so it's vital we get him in, although I would've preferred to see Maguire joining but he's three times at least more expensive than AG.
TrentFox Posted 6 August 2012 Posted 6 August 2012 It's a small thing, but if we have 4 CB's, someone will be 4th choice - by definition. I hope that whoever it is hates it. Otherwise it means they are happy to sit on the bench / ressies and probably agree with the manager that they aren't good enough to play. And why would we want that person ?

TrentFox Posted 6 August 2012 Posted 6 August 2012 I'd like someone who understands they need to wait for their chance, and that throwing their dummy out won't get them anywhere See where you're coming from, but I don't ! I want someone who wants their place back yesterday and wants to move heaven and Earth to make the manager see the error of his ways in dropping them .... without headbutting anyone, though - we agree on that part !!

Understand what you're saying but there's a difference between someone whose happy to be on the bench and somebody that won't spit there dummy out if they aren't in the team. It's hard to find these players that will be happy to have to fight for their place in the starting 11. Not saying Gerrard will be one of these players
Finn Claw II Posted 6 August 2012 Posted 6 August 2012 Given our current crop of CB's, adding another makes perfect sense We all love Logan (do we?), we know he isn't going to play much but he is an important part of the squad, as will a 3rd / 4th choice CB

kingfox Posted 6 August 2012 Posted 6 August 2012 Name which three centre halves Cardiff used more than him last year. Yeh, god help us, how would we possibly cope having two players who've both received season awards at this level before, how could we cope having defenders bought by a manager who's only ever built a solid defence for us. Do you do it deliberately? Don't care if he was used more often, at the end of the day he went from first choice to fourth choice. Hudson and Turner were much better. I don't do it deliberately I think we can do much better than Gerrard, Cardiff fans know what his like and even our fans should know what we might be getting ourselves into. Why the hell would someone like Gerrard so bigheaded who wants to play week in week out, come here and settle for fourth choice again, just doesn't make sense to me im afraid. I just don't rate Drinkwater, just compare him to those midfielders I mentioned then really think, can he and Danns dominate a opposition midfield consisting of Etuhu and Murphy or Pratley and Andrews, very very doubtful. James may be more defensive but we should buy someone more physical than him, if we had a player of Liam Trotter's calibre many fans like myself would be more optimistic about our chances this season. When will people realise that Kingfox is just trying to be controversial. Ignore him and he will go away. And I am not going away, I have good views about some players, and bad views on others. I am a fan, I have had a season ticket for for season's now, but there are other fans which moan more than me, probably not on this forum haha, but when your at games, you do get some idiots at the back of you saying all the time oh he is crap etc... I am not that confident yet, especially in our midfield and compared to other teams I don't think our signings are quite strong enough.
kingfox Posted 6 August 2012 Posted 6 August 2012 From Cardiff fans on the Cardiff City forum. What a c**t, fed up of his bites on Twitter, sooner he goes the better. The quicker Gerrard is gone, the better for us/the team and Malky. Gerrard throws his toys out of the f**king pram and crys. Cringy. Argues with Dave Jones and Malky, coincidence I think not? Didn't play after the Cup final? Coincidence I think now? Grade A Twat. Gerrard has loads of digs at fans when they never abused him. Hes supposed to be a role model to young fans and his attitude is disgraceful. Think those just sum up my points over the past day.
Mark_w Posted 6 August 2012 Posted 6 August 2012 Yeah ok Kingfox, that's a lot more comparable to our situation than when Gerrard was at Hull with that Nigel Pearson bloke as his manager.

He gives us a higher standard of competition, and as weve seen under Pearson before, his system can make Wayne Brown play well

Heres my take on your posts: You seem to be a passionate City fan You seem to be fighting back because so many people are disagreeing with you. Fair play that's your prerogative. Some of what you say I agree with, some I don't. However, taking that into account I'm not sure if you are genuine or trolling? However, and here's the rub... Why don't you give Pearson and his new signings the chance to see what they can do? You could be right and they don't fit in, or you could be pleasantly surprised when you see that Pearson has made some signings which seem to click. Whatever, you are flogging a dead horse. People don't want to hear your views on our squad being pants AND Pearson will do what Pearson will do do nothing that you say is going to suddenly make him go out and sign Koren or anyone else for that matter. Sit back, accept that the majority want to discuss the positives and lets have this conversation again at least 10 games in. If you are right at that time, you can then say 'I told you so'. Until then, give it a rest and wait and see.
Mack Posted 6 August 2012 Posted 6 August 2012 Few points. Pearson knows Gerrard, so he'll know his personality. This sounds very much like Mills in reverse, most people here think Mills will go well at Bolton so why shouldn't Gerrard go well with us?

Those comments do not fair well tbh, we want to get promotion this season but we go buying idiots like Gerrard. Going on my comment again, why would a fourth choice centre back want to come to Leicester just to be fourth choice again? Gerrard may have a decent relationship with Nigel, but why would any player want to come to a side just to be fourth choice. Anthony Gerrard knows that he is good enough to start for some clubs especially the lowly Championship sides, he was linked with Millwall and Bristol City and I believe he would certainly start for those sides, but he wants to come here and be fourth choice when he probably could be starting week in week out for a team like Bristol City. It just doesn't make sense. I wouldn't want to go to a side just to sit on the bench, that's why St Ledger moaned when he wasn't getting played, because he knew he was good enough to be starting.

What is their to suggest he will be Fourth choice? he well may be partnering Wes come the first game of the season as Whitbread may not be fit in time.
ARM1968 Posted 6 August 2012 Posted 6 August 2012 He's mediocre at best, but we need the cover so...........
marty78 Posted 6 August 2012 Posted 6 August 2012 Where does the assumption that Gerrard will be 4th choice come from?

I am passionate and I have my views like many others fans and I am certainly not afraid to post my opinions, some people will agree on some points like you just said while others won't. I like some of the signings we have made, but this Gerrard move just baffles me, I will give De Laet and James a chance and like you say give them 10 games or so and my opinions on them may change and I actually hope they do. Gerrard though, the thought of this signing just makes me angry, but I am not gonna go off in one of my Matt Mills type rants.

He may well do if he signs, but when Whitbread is fit he will start, and hopefully when St Ledger comes back he gets pushed up the pecking order, then that will mean Gerrard will fall into third or fourth choice if things don't go to plan. Cardiff fans know what his like and knows what he is like on social network sites, they were the fans who were watching him every week last season. And Pearson will have a better opinion that the lot of them, seeing as he actually knows the bloke unlike you and them. Going on my comment again, why would a fourth choice centre back want to come to Leicester just to be fourth choice again? Because he likes Pearson? Because he believes Pearson could perhaps in time make up player of the year material again? Because he'd rather try and force his way in here over time than play for a shitter team?
