Don't forget, although he didn't score, the two best chances in the first half came to Beckford and surprise surprise, they were neatly slotted through balls for him to run onto.

Back 4 looked solid.

This is something I expect during this season. If there is anything, Nigel will have the back four solid and playing as a unit again. It's something I am (hopefully) looking forward to see develop.

Was really impressed with pretty much everyone as a whole today - looked like a pretty solid unit throughout.

Vardy was just as I expected - talented and really hard-working. I lost count of the amount of times he managed to break away and gain serious distance, just a shame he didn't get many chances to shoot.

Knockaert was ace. Can seemingly outwit most opponents and his pace will up our attack rate nicely this season. Also made me laugh with his little pisstake dribble-dance!

Also agree that Drinkwater made some great commanding play today, think the summer with the squad has settled him in nicely.

Can't really judge the upcoming season's chances based on a friendly but I definitely feel more positive now. Great day

Very very impressed with today... could have been a rout if we'd put more chances away.

Schmeichel had very little to do.

Moore was impressive, strong, confident, hard in the tackles but at times seemed a bit rash and went for headers that Morgan had covered. Prefer him much more at right back. Big Wes just totally controlled the game, helps so much with no Bamba.

Konchesky was just standard Konch - consistent. Schlupp was also very solid at LB and burned the RB on a couple of occasions to get into dangerous positions in the box. Can see Kennedy going as it seems NP has more than enough trust in Schlupp to cover at LB if needed.

I felt that Parkes was a bit dodgy at times, distribution wasn't the greatest, but seemed strong in the air and sound positionally. The rest will come with experience I reckon.

De Laet I really like. He has a good presence about him made one fantastic run on a counter attack and did well. Improvement on Peltier.

Marshall looked sharp. Drinkwater was excellent. James was a bit quiet but did a lot of grafting, seems an upgrade on King, who was anonymous. Danns' distribution not great but has so much energy. Lloyd did well too and Knockaert, very impressive.

Vardy, I like this lad A LOT. Pace, energy, nippy, gets stuck in and fantastic movement. Worked very well with Beckford and their partnership tore apart Kilgallon and Bramble. To KingFox who criticised Beckford again, he was through on goal twice, his first effort was very well saved and the second he was brought down last man which would have been a red if it was a league game. They were menacing together, has extreme potential.

Nugent looked slow and unfit and Waghorn offered little but some hold up play was good.

Everyone has different opinions, but I said they linked up well from time to time, but Beckford still didn't look that good. The player who made the through ball pass should be praised, and if Beckford finished his chances I would probably be more happy about his performance, but like last season again though, with his chances he spent way too long mulling over them, then the Sunderland defence tracked back and tackled him.

I said earlier in the week, I want Beckford to stay but the performance today in my view was just basically like any other performance by him, the odd quality spark here and there, then he gives up and doesn't look bothered. Fans will not want to see that again this season, he needs to improve, he needs to give 100% at all times and needs to be finding that net, if not he needs to be sold.

I was impressed with a lot of players today, my main victim Danny Drinkwater being one of them. Beckford though didn't impress me.

But maybe that was because it was a friendly and no-one wanted to risk being out of the curtain raiser and that's fair enough I suppose but £10 to watch such a luke-warm encounter was not my idea of good value. I'd like to assume that the second half was brilliant and that I'd missed out but there are some commentators reckon it w as worse than the first.

And there was precious little excitement to that.

I don't see People wanting to get rid of Waghorn and he puts in crap performances pretty much all the time, yes you can factor he has injuries but for me he needs to leave on loan to regain some of his former form.

People are talking about us beating a Premiership club but Sunderland didn't look any better than the likes of Barnsley from the evidence of 45 minutes,

in fact they were as forgettable a side as I've seen down here, a view that seems to have been more than confirmed by their own disgruntled fans who were no doubt cheesed off to witness their club's fourth defeat in pre-season friendlies

If you somehow thought we did well against a good side then I'm pleased for you. To me it was little more than the a training run-out.

Solid. Schmeichel was reliable, I thought not a single player who was in defence today had a bad game. Morgan was my MOTM again, he's looked absolutely solid every time I've seen him this summer. Liam Moore - take a chance on the lad. For me he should start there v Posh, he looked solid at centre half, composed on the ball and got the job done, good in the tackle too. Parkes was a bit rash with his passing but got the goal so fair play. Konchesky impressed as usual, Schlupp actually had a good game at left back I thought and De Laet was impressive too, he seems a positive player.

Improved again, Drinkwater had a very good game, he's gonna have a big part for us this year if he keeps up his form like this, he seemed to dip at the end of last year but this is far better. James impressed me too, a pretty solid player and he's actually fairly similar to Drinkwater, both of them like a tackle and can pick a pass, I'd have nothing against either of them starting v Posh in a 4-4-2. King wasn't as bad as people say either, a couple of mistakes early on and whilst I wouldn't say he caught the eye, he was nowhere near as bad as some are saying and I can't help but feel they're basing it on making early mistakes. Now onto the interesting bit, the wingers. To think a year ago we had one at the club, and that was Dyer, who was too quiet again today for me. Marshall started slowly but was everywhere in the end and nearly scored a great goal, impressive display from him. Of course, we move on to our very own FLAIR king. Knockaert is exactly what we've lacked out wide, he's positive, he can defend, he's not scared to try ridiculous things, the lad's got unreal potential, how anyone can say they'd start Dyer over him next week, beyond me. Absolute FLAIR.

Beckford & Vardy were far more dangerous than Nugent & Waghorn. I'm no Beckford fan but he wasn't bad today IMO, he squandered a decent chance through poor decision making and taking too long, on the whole he wasn't bad. Vardy impressed me, he's a hard worker and like Knockaert he's positive and always wants to make something happen, his ball through to Beckford was great play. Nugent on the other hand who I am a fan of was crap and barely touched it, Waghorn didn't look too bad for once.

Solid win against a top flight opposition (although they were poor), not surprising stuff but glad we look a more solid side with potential to excite the crowd.

Give me this side over the one 12 months ago any day of the pissing week.

Got to say I was very impressed with what I saw today, only a friendly I know. The real work starts next week.

First time I've saw Liam Moore play and I thought he was very solid, looking forward to seeing more of him.
