Ric Flair Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 Still a lot to work on. Vardy's first touch is as bad as Beckford's, his decision making needs to improve as he twice should have shot 2nd half when clean through and only 12 yards out but tried to pass it? But he looks a talent. Nugent has now gone about 10 games without a goal for us and he was very quiet yesterday. Beckford had a stinker and nearly cost us. Kingy was superb AGAIN, he's a joy to watch in this form. As is Marshall and Morgan. Dyer sees so much of the ball but is atrocious, Knockaert should start over him surely? Although he was very quiet when he came on too. Great result and we now need to show some mental resolve away from home.
jamesmilner Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 we ground out a result ! not about performance yesterday . well done city !
foxfanazer Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 Schlupp looked like he was loving it at left back, what a lad!
fleckneymike Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 I think what has been really impressive, and what has been largely ignored, is the complete turn around in philosophy from last season and the apparent lack of growing pains normally associated with that. I know people bang on about a 'plan b' but I'm impressed by how good our plan A is. My only minor concern would be the form of Konchesky.
Captain... Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 we ground out a result ! not about performance yesterday . well done city ! But it was a great performance, destroyed them for 60 minutes, their only chances came from stupid errors. After we scored they came at us Holloway threw on every attacking option he had and our makeshift back 4 held firm limiting them to a few chances. Top performance against a very attack minded team.
Corky Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 Can't argue with that result or performance, we were at it from the start and deserved to win the game. Holloway's complained about the penalty decision but if the referee had given the clear foul on Dyer then I doubt he would've given the one on Vardy. Our tempo was good, we pressured Blackpool early and restricted them to very few clear cut chances. Much needed win, a clean sheet and we bounced back from the midweek shocker. There are still concerns and areas to be improved on but after four games I've seen plenty of encouraging signs.
Captain... Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 The great thing about the performance is that the threats were coming from all over the pitch, there is no star or focal point of our attack, we can hurt you down the left, down the right, through the middle and over the top, we can hit you fast or we can patiently increase pressure and force chances. The only thing we seem to struggle at is converting these chances, but 2 weeks of shooting practice and we will give Wolves a proper cvnting.

Wolves are so far not looking as good as I thought they might be. If we play against Wolves like we played yesterday I can't see why we can't beat them. They've kept Doyle though I think? He's gotta be stopped IMO. Good player at this level.
Corky Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 Delighted to see the all-round improvement in King's game. Gets "stuck in" more without being reckless and a couple of time seemed to brush players off the ball.
C-man Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 Just a thought but maybe King is looking more impressive this season as we are playing through midfield more, rather than him simply watching the ball fly over his head all game?
Babylon Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 Delighted to see the all-round improvement in King's game. Gets "stuck in" more without being reckless and a couple of time seemed to brush players off the ball. Yup. I've been one of his biggest critics over the years, but he seems to have upped that side of his game and he's influencing play so much more now for me. Been delighted with him and DD in midfield the last two games, really dominant against two midfields with some quality players. Just a thought but maybe King is looking more impressive this season as we are playing through midfield more, rather than him simply watching the ball fly over his head all game? We might have been direct sometimes but we were hardly Wimbledon like.

I'm with you on this and admit too I wasn't his biggest fan for all the reasons I've stated. He's started this season on fire. Long may it continue.

That and playing a formation that suits him, rather than Sven's diamond, and having genuine width to stretch the midfield, as well as a good dynamic midfield partner in Drinky that he is forming a great understanding with.
Babylon Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 I'm with you on this and admit too I wasn't his biggest fan for all the reasons I've stated. He's started this season on fire. Long may it continue. How old is he, 23? Feels like he's been around forever.

I think almost all our efforts on goal have been good efforts (Robinson played a blinder & Gilks rode his luck at times), they've just been saved well or blocked well, what we need to gamble on is the second ball... it's always gonna bounce somewhere and we just need to get on the end of those second balls a bit more often... the same goes for the extraordinary volume of Marshall's crosses & our ridiculous number of corners. But we're very hard to stop, if you stop Marshall's crosses, Drinkwater pushing up & King arriving later will hurt you, if you stop them the chances are Dyer will break well. As the season settles down there's goals all over our team. Unlike current leaders Blackpool where if you stop their widemen, they've got fvck all else
Guest Col city fan Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 How old is he, 23? Feels like he's been around forever. It certainly does. Really nice bloke n all is Kingy. Met him a couple of times down the training ground a few years back ( when he was playing in the youth set up).
Bluetintedspecs Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 I've been quite vocal about us having a squad that looks like a unit to be reckoned with and I will stand by that.. Think NP has unearthed some gems and they will keep improving especially Mr Vardy who I feel will be a goal machine with more time and experience as he's looking very dangerous after only 4 league games. The future looks very bright indeed.

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 You should ring up Radio Leicester and tell them what you think about things. Same old Haydos. I can always rely on you to come up with some brilliant comment. :yesyes: I suppose you will be saying that Vardy didn't dive, next? By gum,he should get an Oscar for that performance.

I can always rely on you to come up with some brilliant comment. :yesyes: I suppose you will be saying that Vardy didn't dive, next? By gum,he should get an Oscar for that performance. Except that he did not dive, he did not need to, he placed his body in front of the defender and the momentum of the defender meant he was going to take Vardy out regardless. Clever play if you can get into that position where you just cut across infront of a player since to the referee it looks like you were brought down by being clattered.
cc_star Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 You must be absolutely gutted when we win, makes it that bit harder for you to whinge and complain. It doesn't. He just used his skewed view on Pearson to distort reality a little bit further. If we won 10-0 he'd be moaning about there being no bog roll in his trap
foxaholic Posted 2 September 2012 Posted 2 September 2012 Moore was poor? Did you go to a different game? Agreed if you think Leicester were poor suggest you go Man City . Apart from Beckford everyone played well and the stick Dyer gets on here does not represent majority view hence his raptuous applause when substituted
