Carl the Llama Posted 12 November 2012 Posted 12 November 2012 No doubt MK ****** fans will be creaming themselves over the prospect of finally meeting their "rivals" and will no doubt find some way of trying to claim they're "the real Wimbledon". Cretins. Would love Cambridge City to go through. What about the dons supporters who support them because Milton Keynes is their hometown? Are they cretins?
Guest Bilo Posted 12 November 2012 Posted 12 November 2012 Brilliant game, horrific defending. Seb Brown has had a disastrous night.
Leicesterpool Posted 12 November 2012 Posted 12 November 2012 I hope they televise the MK Dons v Wimbledon tie
Voll Blau Posted 12 November 2012 Posted 12 November 2012 What about the dons supporters who support them because Milton Keynes is their hometown? Are they cretins? If people from Milton Keynes wanted a league football team they should've done it the same way as everyone else throughout history did and built up a local club from the non-leagues, not wait for one to drop on their doorstep as part of a deal to build a supermarket so some nobhead could fund a few more lines of the white stuff in the process. Like I say though, hope they're irrelevant to this competition anyway and Cambridge City get through. The more non-league teams capable of getting into the pot for January the better.

I agree with you 100%, they cheated there way up the leagues. Milton Keynes have had two teams before I think one was Milton Keynes Borough or something and that was flop because nobody turned up to support. I can't work out the people Milton Keynes who support, it's there hometown team yes but supporting a club that cheated and stole another to get there. To be honest nobody like MK Dons, alot of people will be cheering on Wimbledon come this tie.
Carl the Llama Posted 12 November 2012 Posted 12 November 2012 Fair points both of ya. Think it's a bit harsh to hold it against MK locals though: They didn't make the club move there. Make the best of a bad situation and all that. I obviously feel the Wombles' pain, but given the following quote from wikipedia I think we can cut Winkleman a bit of slack: "Wimbledon remained at Plough Lane until 1991, when the club was told to redevelop the old ground by the Taylor Report. The club's owners could not afford to do the necessary work, and so arranged for the club to temporarily share Crystal Palace's Selhurst Park ground, about 6 miles (9.7 km) from Plough Lane, while they sought a new stadium site for Wimbledon in south-west London. They searched fruitlessly for nearly a decade." Feel free to chime in if I'm missing anything else.
Samilktray Posted 13 November 2012 Posted 13 November 2012 Hoping MK beat Wimbledon if they get the chance.
Finnegan Posted 13 November 2012 Posted 13 November 2012 Hoping MK beat Wimbledon if they get the chance. the second I saw you'd posted in this thread I knew what it would read. Haha.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 13 November 2012 Posted 13 November 2012 MK Dons are 3-0 up. Looking like this will happen. Surely it will be an intense rivalry from the AFC Wimbledon perspective? I can't wait!

I doubt many will want to line Winkelman's pockets and turn up at Milton Keynes. It'll be pretty damned special if it goes to a replay though.

It'll be pretty damned special if it goes to a replay though. Don't forget MK would still get 40% of the gates at Kingsmeadow, so I'm not sure they'd turn up then, either.

Corky Posted 13 November 2012 Posted 13 November 2012 Look at the stats from that game: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20216720 I think Milton Keynes were slightly determined to get through.

David Guiza Posted 13 November 2012 Posted 13 November 2012 Been watching the majority of the Braintree v Tranmere game, the result was never really in doubt after Tranmere's first. However, one thing i did notice is even a side struggling in the conference can deliver a better dead ball than us. Then again most Sunday league sides can. Love watching the FA Cup, really hoping for someone like Barrow. It's been years since we've had a draw like that.
Part Of The Crowd Posted 13 November 2012 Posted 13 November 2012 I agree with you 100%, they cheated there way up the leagues. To be honest nobody like MK Dons, alot of people will be cheering on Wimbledon come this tie. There was also MK City, but someone involved with Wimbledon purchased the club, sold off it's assets and left it to die, which it eventually did. There was another incarnation of MK City but it didn't get the people turning up or financial backing. Another interesting little twist in the whole MK/Wimbledon thing which isn't mentioned all that often.
Leicesterpool Posted 14 November 2012 Posted 14 November 2012 Just found out that MK Dons v AFC Wimbledon tie is to be televised on Itv following after that it will be the important draw round three!
Basingstoke Fox Posted 1 December 2012 Posted 1 December 2012 Cov were 2-0 up against Morecombe but Morecombe have pulled one back at the Ricoh. This could be funny.
Aus Fox Posted 2 December 2012 Posted 2 December 2012 Come on AFC, hammer the cheating bastards! Should really be a bye for AFC. Mkdonalds the only team I would love to see go bust
MC Prussian Posted 2 December 2012 Posted 2 December 2012 I'm looking forward to a rather tasty replay at AFC Wimbledon. EDIT: Or maybe not. Deflected shot. 2-1 MK Dons after 91 minutes.
