Guest Col city fan Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 We have to have a squad? It's a long season... They can't all play every game can they and having a big bloke on the bench gives us another option. I was surprised he didn't come on against Palace though. That game was crying out for a big fella. The crosses into their box were gobbled up by Damien Delaney.
Guest Col city fan Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 I'm surprised by the lack of action he's had, it must be that Pearson doesn't rate him that highly at the minute. We've very few alternatives to have on the bench, let alone strikers who are good in the air so that's why he is named in the matchday squad. I would like to see more of him, but I trust Nigel to a certain extent with this. I hope he goes and signs a new striker on loan next week as we've some tough games coming and if we don't maintain our good form then we could regret it come next year. Our strikeforce is worrying me massively right now. Good post Ric. IMO, and I said this at the time, the over reliance on Beckford and Nuge last season was Pearsons biggest error so far in this tenure. Getting another striker of some quality makes real sense to me.
woddyuk Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 Looked ok in preseason friendlies.. Sending off waiting to happpen though as he was very physical. He is plan b that we should have used against palace
ithuriel Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 He was worth a punt being on a free, now maybe he is worth a punt
TrentFox Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 Coplication is if we suddenly needed him, he's done nothing in eons ! As with many others on the bench, he just can't walk on and play at the level required without some matches under his belt. Gally and Wellens have been on loan - feel a loan with 'emergency recall' option for Futacs would be a good shout as we will need him at some point, I'm sure. Someone would offer him some matches, surely ???
Raj Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 Cant be any worse than Wagorn on current form surely???
Kitchandro Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 I've not see him play myself but he's come off the bench a couple of times and all I've heard about him is the ball bounces off him all the time. Maybe that's why Pearson isn't picking him. I do think he would have been useful in a couple of games, namely Wolves and Palace, wouldn't like this type of player to start for us though and to be honest he'll be down the pecking order even further if we bring in a striker on loan.
Mack Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 Seems like a speculative signing to me, a bit like Moussa. Probably not good enough to be a regular first teamer, but a decent option in reserve if we have a bit of an injury crisis. At the end of the day, he's not getting game time for a reason - Pearson and his staff see the bloke day in, day out yet when Vardy was injured they still preferred the misfiring Waghorn... doesn't inspire a lot of confidence - they really mustn't rate him. Then why sign him?

IMO, and I said this at the time, the over reliance on Beckford and Nuge last season was Pearsons biggest error so far in this tenure. Getting another striker of some quality makes real sense to me. Or maybe loaning out a guy that can obviously score regularly at this level?
indierich06 Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 Then why sign him? It wouldn't be the first time a club has scouted a player, signed him and then he's turned out to be a bit of a duffer. Anyway, all I was saying was that they rate the rest of our strikers higher - at least he's making the bench. It might just be a case of preferring the other alternatives rather than him. Just like with Danns, there will inevitably be injuries and suspensions during the season and he'll get his chance. Up to him whether he takes it or not.
indierich06 Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 Or maybe loaning out a guy that can obviously score regularly at this level? The guy who didn't want to play for us because he wasn't considered automatic 1st choice? He had his chance to nail down a starting spot right from the off this season and he blew it after a couple of piss poor performances and then threw his toys out of the pram because he wasn't playing first team football week in, week out. If he'd gotten his head down, waited for his chance, he'd probably still be here and playing first team football now. As for 'a guy that can obviously score regularly at this level' - how do you work that one out? He was hardly on fire last season and he's scored a grand total of 2 goals in 10 games this season. Prolific!
Corky Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 Or maybe loaning out a guy that can obviously score regularly at this level? We haven't loaned out Nugent or King.

Our strikeforce is worrying me massively right now. The problem is in most games we have been holding on with a narrow lead, or when we have got a comfortable lead we have already made a few subs, the ideal situation is to bring him on when we are 1 down and throwing everything forward and they opposition are just holding on, but that hasn't really happened for a while, or when we are 3-4 goals up and coasting it, again not happened for a long while. Trying to hold on to a narrow lead it is better to have someone up front who can retain the ball well, and win it back off defenders and get back and support the midfield, which is where Vardy and Waghorn offer more than Futacs.
Manwell Pablo Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 Don't mention Waghorn you'll start it off again!

Captain... Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 You could argue Vardy and Waghorn have also been poor, but I dont see them training with the kids and getting frozen out. Who has been frozen out? This has been repeated a number of times, nobody has been forced to train with the kids, if you are not in the match day squad you do normal training, if you are you do match preparation, there is no point preparing people for a match they are not involved in when they can be working on fitness and skills.
Corky Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 Vardy hasn't been that poor, 4 goals so far is ok.
Walshy5 Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 Vardy hasn't been that poor, 4 goals so far is ok. 3 goals actually. You should know by now that cup goals dont count
AKCJ Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 Vardy hasn't been that poor, 4 goals so far is ok. Agreed, people are expecting way too much oh him. For 1m, in this day and age, you can be happy with 4 goals in 9 games (Wiki, not sure if this is correct). He's a team player and his work rate is higher than that of Paul Dickov and Ian Hume. He will find his feet more and more as he gets used to the game at this level. He has my faith. However, where the problem lies is goals. Our strikeforce of Nugent and Vardy isn't scoring, but do you buy a new goalscorer and drop one? I couldn't pick one to drop. 3 goals actually. You should know by now that cup goals dont count What about his perfectly legitimate brace against Blackburn?
dannythefox Posted 2 November 2012 Posted 2 November 2012 Vardy 4goals and 3assists, what do fans want from him if he carrys on on like that all season he will have done very well.
kingfox Posted 17 November 2012 Posted 17 November 2012 People said he is crap. The guy is the flaming master. He is now my new favourite player, until St Ledger comes back. That pic is better than Knockaert's topless one.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 25 November 2012 Posted 25 November 2012 Marko Futacs's agent confirmed that his client may leave Leicester City when the transfer window re-opens in January. The 22-year-old Hungarian forward joined Leicester from Portsmouth earlier this summer, but he has seen his chances limited. Now his agent Vladan Filipovic has confirmed he could be set to leave in the New Year. "I'm working on Marko's case because I think he needs more chance (to play) for his development," Filipovic told Nemzeti Sport. "It's true that his name appeared at Portsmouth as a possibility but there are interested teams from the Championship too, but Leicester weren't willing to let him go on loan so we have to wait until January." Marko
casablancas Posted 25 November 2012 Posted 25 November 2012 We'll make some sort of profit from his sale surely?
Jaspa Posted 25 November 2012 Posted 25 November 2012 Timings too perfect Think Mr eastern european agent wants some more dough somehow, whether it hinders Markos development here or elsewhere. Let's see what comes of this
