Booing Gally

Recommended Posts

I can understand why most people would have a problem with gally getting booed, however in the SAME game we hear chants towards Beckford, which in my opinion is worse than booing someone for 5 seconds....

Was this topic created off the back of the comments by stringer on radio Leicester or by somebody who was actually at the game?

Don't know about anybody else, but I didn't hear a single boo when he came on, get the impression some people were sitting near stringer who didn't like Gally and he made it sound like half the ground boo'd him.

Thought he did alright when he came on

Sorry to break this to you. You may need a hearing test.

It may have only been a minority but that minority was heard.

I was at the game and was shocked. But it was clear. Knocky got clapped off gally got booed on.

It was extremely clear to me sadly.

I wish I could just say "probably just a one off" but sadly the only thing that are one offs nowadays are decent atmospheres.

Main reason for the poor atmosphere???

The 18-30 year olds cannot afford to go week in week out. The atmosphere used to be created by this age range when a group of mates went together.

Surely the club could try a few 18-25 pie and pint tickets for £15

Is he really getting booed for having a few shit games in the past? Because that is absolutely ridiculous. Are our fans only happy when they've got something to boo about? Mental.

Why did some people have a go at Grayson?

He was at the club for many years and gave his all.

I suppose they think he's fair game as he's not here anymore. I think it's ok to boo, take the piss or have a go at ex players and managers if they were useless when they were here but Grayson certainly wouldn't be one of those in my book

Agree with this, regardless of whether he wants to be here or not, he's still our player and may be back here next season if we can't offload him. He's not fair game yet

As much as I agree, why would the club just isolate the younger generation, and not involve everyone? I'm sure the club probably don't care that the atmosphere is a bit poor, so long as they're making their money on the gates, unfortunately.

I joined in the boos.

I don't like the bloke. Arrogant and hasn't played well for us since signing his new contract at the same time as Wellens, both been turd since.

Hate the bias shown to players such as Gallagher, Danns, Wellens by Stringer who acts as their best mate, which isn't his job.

I support the team, not individual players who get payed a handsome amount. If the team plays pathetic against a team we should be beating then I will boo then, just like when I go bananas when we score.

Football is entertainment and the crowd can do what they please.

Some people get too attached to players and believe they are apart of their lives, some of you folk on twitter are an embarrassment to humanity... 'A RT would make my day'.

I'll continue to boo Gallagher because I'm not a real fan, obviously.

What makes you think he's arrogant?

Yeah we were pathetic against Huddersfield, you had every right to boo.

Football is entertainment and the crowd can do what they please.

Yep and I paid my money and have a right to criticise you for making the rest of us look bad, for making us look incredibly ungrateful by booing one of our players when we were winning 5-1.

I'll continue to boo Gallagher because I'm not a real fan, obviously.

You're a real fan, but you're clearly not a particularly good supporter.

But congratulations for having the balls to admit it.

Would you have continued to boo Gally if the shot he took sailed in from 30 yards out? Or would you have just been silent?

You dismiss people who follow players on twitter, yet you claim to 'know' that Gally is arrogant? How do you know this? Do you know him as a bloke?

I've never been a fan of Gallagher, the footballer. Despite having a great shot on him, I see him as too lightweight, physically and too quick to shy out of challenges. I'm happy now that Gally isn't first choice.

However, to boo any player who came on yesterday, whilst we were running away with the game is futile. What are you going to gain from it?

Supporting a 'team' implies supporting the players in the team. You might not like them, but you still support them.

One such player was Beckford. I never wanted him in a City shirt and always thought he was the most frustrating player I'd seen down here for years. Flashes of talent amidst a sea of mediocrity. But not once did I boo the lad. Whilst he was in a blue shirt, he gets my backing.

Thanks!

I wasn't booing the team, I was just booing him, for about 3 seconds.

I've had run-ins with him on Twitter and he came accross very arrogant, I wasn't abusive, just gave my opinion. His 'mate' Stringer joined in too!...

Granted, probably not the posterboy 'supporter' but I have a ST and go to my fair share of away games and love the club like anyone else on here. I jsut don't like Gallagher, like most hated Beckford, Gallagher is my hate figure.

How does that relate to Gallagher this season, given he's played three league games in which we've won two and got a draw at the team in 2nd?

Gallagher is a Leicester City player. Leicester City were winning 5-1. Gallagher is no Marlon King, or El Hadji Diouf, he may have said something nasty to you on twitter ( :ill:), but that doesn't make him a bad person it just means that like anyone else he doesn't like someone criticising his work. If you think he should be booed for that, especially when the manager sending him out has masterminded a superb performance well worth your money, then you're a bit of a twat to be honest.

Fair play for having the balls to admit it, but I still don't understand why you would do it, he may be arrogant and paid well and played shit for us last season, but that can be levelled at many other players that don't get the same treatment, it is not going to help anything and will only motivate him to leave, that may be what you want, but when he is coming on the pitch that is not the time to do it.

He has clearly worked hard to get back into the team, and we have to trust NP that he is there on merit for what he has done on loan and in training, he has upped his work rate and done ok since he has come back into the team, if one of those long rangers had flown in, it would have been a very successful return, but so far he is doing ok as a sub.

First one to have the bollocks to admit to doing it, and after seeing your reasons, it's pretty clear why.

Embarrassed for you. I don't get why you go, you act like players being over-paid is a new phenomenon.

I started the topic after hearing the comments on the radio. This fueled my anger as I live in Cornwall so cant get to games but wish I could be there every game cheering them on. When I hear of this sort if thing its like an added kick in the teeth that these idiots are there doing that and i'm at home constantly refreshing the match day page.

He may not be a bad person because he was a meany to me on Twitter but am I a bad fan becuase I boo him?

We act like their is a law against booing. Me booing in the stands should have no effect on his performance. if a whole stadium does it then yeah, he might shrivell a bit.

I'm not proclaiming to be a hero because I aired my views in public, half the people on here berate Wellens/Danns/Beckford, why not do it at the game? it's just as hurtful to a player to read it here as it is to here someone booing in the crowd.

You'd be foolish to think players don't search for themselves, I know I would.

As I said, football is entertainment and being displeased with a performance or a player coming on that you don't want to see should be allowed, and it is, but why should I be embarrased or ridiculed for it?

Because we were winning 5-1, does your hatred for the player run so deep that instead of simply enjoying an incredible performance you have to boo him?

You make us as a fan base look bad by doing things like that, which is why you will be rightly ridiculed.

To anyone who booed:

Can you please let us know your place of work so we can turn up early to boo you as you walk in?
