Vacamion Posted 26 March 2013 Posted 26 March 2013 Hart Walker - Jagielka - Ferdinand - Baines Parker Gerrard - Wilshere Walcott - Rooney - Sturridge That's what it should look like, because I'm better than Royston. Ferdinand? In the words of the great Danny Dyer, you're having a Girrarrrf, you MAPPET, intcha?
ADK Posted 26 March 2013 Posted 26 March 2013 We didn't try to win the game so we got what we deserved, i hope we don't qualify. A world cup qualification would mean alot more to a country like Montenegro.
ScouseFox Posted 26 March 2013 Posted 26 March 2013 Angry. Hodgson has to take all the blame for us not having a comfortable win tonight. First half was great, we could've been 3 or 4 up and they barely crossed the half way line, and even when they did they looked woeful. Keane was right when he said San Marino could've given them a game on that first 45. Then second half they made one change. One simple change. All we needed to do was accommodate that change and change slightly ourselves, as from 45 minutes onwards it was clear they were well on top. Then not only were we looking poor, players got tired. Cleverly should've been off sharpish, Milner was goosed by about 50 minutes too. Welbeck should never have started and I don't know if any of you noticed but Michael Carrick actually played 90 minutes. Without touching the ball. Or tackling anyone. Or doing anything. AT ALL. What a load of bollocks. We somehow turned a routine victory into a draw just by being stupid. We should still qualify by beating this rabble at home, but we're doing our best to make it especially hard for ourselves.
kingfox Posted 26 March 2013 Posted 26 March 2013 Ferdinand? In the words of the great Danny Dyer, you're having a Girrarrrf, you MAPPET, intcha? I put him in, because the media keep banging on about him, so I'm just thinking it's likely he will get recalled.
ScouseFox Posted 26 March 2013 Posted 26 March 2013 I've refereed games and touched the ball more times than Michael Carrick did tonight. Absolutely fúcking pointless. Couldn't give a flying fúck if he's been good for United this season, he's never been good for England and based on tonight that'll never, ever change. If ever there was some "deadwood" we shouldn't be trying out again, lash him on that pile. Useless.

Have to say I thought Gerrard was gash second half too. Gives the ball away far too often for a supposedly 'world-class' player. Looked one-footed all night too - embarrassingly so I thought.

I'm being serious here, I only watched the first 45 minutes but I didn't here them say carrick's name once or see him touch the ball.
Tielemans63 Posted 26 March 2013 Posted 26 March 2013 At least after the crushing disappointment of a game thrown away against a team we really should be superior to because we didn't have a plan B....we can now focus on supporting City.

Gives the ball away far too often for a supposedly 'world-class' player. Looked one-footed all night too - embarrassingly so I thought. Yeah he was poor by what you'd expect of a captain and a player we all know can be one of the best. He didn't start off too badly but like everyone else, once they sorted their midfield out there was a lot of chasing, he got tired and started giving the ball away. We had Lampard, Osman and Scott Parker on the bench. Any of the three would've given fresh legs. Osman and Parker would've been suited to tracking runners, getting a foot in etc. Although I guess that's what Carrick was there for, he just didn't do it. We needed a change(s) from about 50 minutes or so, when it was clear they had the measure of us. But none came until we brought on Ashley Young (!!?!) in the 78th minute or so. Waaaay too late. And let's not even get started on Joe Hart kicking the ball straight out of play on our right hand side at least 4 or 5 times in a row. There's enough quality in our team to pass the ball around, calm it down, hold it up etc, just to take a bit of pressure off. But we didn't. Just so poor in that second half.

Thank you. That cheered me up a lot. Carrick's still a load of my arse though, whether you like it or not
Leicesterpool Posted 26 March 2013 Posted 26 March 2013 Sometimes I really do question Hodgson leadership, we've got a lot of good young players but for me every since Roy as took over, we haven't seen much potential from them, i also don't think he encourages them enough. If England don't qualify then Hodgson should be sacked! and if that does happen then I think the Fa should appoint somebody young with fresh ideas and no matter of there nationality.
Tom17LCFC Posted 26 March 2013 Posted 26 March 2013 Most important thing is we didn't lose. We'll still qualify. Montenegro have us and Poland left to play away from home. Our only real test is Ukraine away, and we've proven we can win there.
Tielemans63 Posted 26 March 2013 Posted 26 March 2013 Mad as it may sound, there's only one man I'd really like to see as England boss and that's Jose Mourinho. I honestly think he'd be immense as England coach. Never happen though

Super_horns Posted 26 March 2013 Posted 26 March 2013 We'll probably still edge through but you'd think with the current team there won't be the same hype and expectation built up in the media. Too slow at times 2nd half and lacked leadership.
Alf Bentley Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 England don't seem to be mentally/psychologically capable of playing passing football for 90 minutes. The same has happened before (e.g. Euro 2012 finals): capable of matching opponents for possession football, passing, moving opponents around, creating openings, being patient enough to wait until openings are possible....but only for 45 minutes, at most. At the slightest pressure, we then seem to resort to hoofed clearances, lose possession and the ball just keeps coming back at our defence, which eventually crumbles... I know that continuous passing football has not been "the English way" historically (yes, some passing football, but mixed in with long ball, physicality etc.), but surely English international-level players are capable of playing this way now? Is this just a lack of mental/psychological strength? Resort to panic measures as soon as things get a bit difficult? Lack patience or concentration to maintain this style of play?
escape2victory Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 thought carrick was best of a bad bunch tonight. actually put his foot on the ball and passed it. also thought welbeck did well, didn't just stay wide left, came inside and linked well with rooney. swap milner & cleverley with walcott & wilshire & sort the defence out, no more johnson or lescott!
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 Draw isn't too bad as long as we beat them at home and don't lose away to Ukraine. Not as easy group as made out.
Dan Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 If I had an online account (which I refuse) or lived near a bookies I'd be lumping heavily on a 1-1 draw. Sounds like 4-4-2 with Cleverley and Milner out wide. It's painfully predictable that we'll sit back and try and nick a goal, that we'll allow them to control the game etc... it's just going to be so shit, it's Poland away all over again, we've dropped our best attacking threat of last week in Baines and we're playing a midfield with absolutely zero pace or FLAIR what so ever. I hope I'm wrong but that line-up just stinks of negativity. It's just too easy. Piss poor display but fully expected from a team with absolutely no character and one who are getting made look technically average by sides like Montenegro. We're a joke. Tonight showed so many of our mental deficiencies, footballing-wise we're full of fear, we could've had the game sewn up by half-time.
Kitchandro Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 Fortunately I was out tonight. Are we still shit then?
Dan Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 Still. The team has absolutely no belief. People laugh at some of the things Thracian says but he's the total opposite of England's mentality and I can safely say I sway far more towards his philosophy than England's.
AyewJoking Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 Too many players scared shÃtless by the mighty Montenegro. Even before their inevitable equaliser, I was hanging my head in shame because if we're struggling against this calibre of opposition, we havent a prayer of doing any better than just making up the numbers in a major finals. Hodgson waited too late before changing things. It was painfully obvious to see we had bottled it. Even then his only answer was Ashley Young while he watched from the dugout, shÃtting himself like the players. I didnt think England would revisit the awful lows of the 2010 world cup but last night it came flooding back.
Manwell Pablo Posted 27 March 2013 Posted 27 March 2013 Fortunately I was out tonight. Are we still shit then? We were actually quite good in the first half, for once, and Rooney actually looked like a proper international player for 20 minutes of it. Second half we tried to shut up shop and failed miserabley. After they scored we started to threaten again . Frustrating.
